Why James Harrison chose Newquay & St Austell area

I bought Penpol View in 2001 because of its location - situated on the peaceful and desirable Pentire headland, Penpol View has views across the Gannel to Penpol Creek and the National Trust headland beyond. We are close to all the amenities of the town but are in a very quiet location.

What makes this house unique

What better way to unwind than to relax in our hammock and watch the tide come in. Enjoy the benefits of the south facing garden watching canoeists, paddle boarders and swimmers having fun in the water, or stroll to the Gannel and join them !!

Lovely family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful family holiday at this property.

The house was very spacious and had a lovely view, it was also very well equipped and felt very much like home from home.

James the owner was very helpful and easy to contact if you needed anything, he even left us a bottle of wine which was nice and welcoming.

You can easily walk to the beach from here and into the town where there are plenty of restaurants.

We had some great days out, we went to Polzeath, Padstow, the Eden project and Tintagel all very beautiful and well worth visiting. Locally we went to Newquay Zoo and oasis water park and the beach. There is so much to do in Cornwall just not enough time to do it all.

We will definitely come back to this house as I've decided this can be my second home lol.

Thanks again James.

Lovely gem so close to town, but also private

  • 4 of 5

We were a group of 5, that turned into a group of 7 for a few days - there was plenty of room and privacy in the house. The house is located in a housing estate but is located a 10 minute walk from town, and therefore is lovely and secluded. The back garden overlooks the river, and has a lovely hammock, outdoor dining area and a couple of outdoor reclining chairs. We were lucky enough to enjoy some beautiful weather. The walking paths across the river are located just steps away from the house, and also a back trail into town from the house. I was able to get to the harbour without a car in 15 minutes using the back pathways. The house has lovely amenities, 2 bathrooms, 1 loo downstairs, washing machine and equipped kitchen. Lovely dining room with french doors overlooks the garden and the wonderful view of the river.

If you have teenagers, there are also plenty of things to do - deep sea fishing on the "Mystique" from Newquay harbour, surfing lessons in Crantock with Rob Small from Crantock Bay Surf School http://crantockbaysurfschool.com/. I highly recommend both.

We ate at C-Bay for lunch, wonderful views of the sea and great food.

Sainsbury's very close for groceries, and free parking for 1.5 hours (watch out as it's electronically monitored) so be careful to not exceed the time.

James the owner is very helpful and friendly, left us a lovely bottle of wine, tea, coffee and bread to get us started - lovely touch. He also made the entire process simple with paypal, and returned our security deposit the very next day.

Bedding lovely and comfortable - would highly recommend this house.

Thanks James!

Beautiful Spacious House & Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in newquay, we have been a few times but always stayed on caravan sites.

It was so much more comfortable in a house, especially this one. We was party of 2 families, 4 adults and 3 children, house was plenty big enough.

It has a huge living room, which was perfect for relaxing at night and very comfy sofas!!! There was enough room for us all sit and have breakfast around the table together in the dining room and this opened out to the back with a lovely view!

The kitchen is large and very well equipped, you have everything you need!

Garden isn’t huge but it has all you need, grassed area for the kids, patio set, BBQ and some very comfy reclining chairs. We sat out most nights with a glass of wine, very relaxing!

There are 3 Toilets so never a queue in a morning, the bedrooms are all good sizes and the kids loved the bunk beds! Plenty of draws and cupboards for your belongings.

All round the house was lovely decorated and very clean and tidy. I found it to be very warm and welcoming. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family.

We met the owner James a few times, he was a lovely chap, very friendly! I actually left a few bits behind which he very kindly posted back to me, which was really nice of him.

It was about a 10/15 minute walk into newquay town centre, which was perfect for us, we hardly used the car at all. Some of the walk was up hill but nothing major.

Fistral Beach was very close by and very beautiful.

During our stay we took a few trips out, to Padstow and Perranporth. Padstow a lovely fishing village with lots of cute little shops and Perranporth has an amazing beach, my favourite of all the beaches I’ve been to in Cornwall.

We ate out a few times which was lovely, 2 places in particular i would recommend was The Meadery TR71BD and a cosy little pizza place called Rossi’s Pizzeria TR7 1EY. Both served excellent food and very friendly staff.

I love newquay and i loved our stay, have absolutely nothing negative to say about the house or the location.

Cornwall needs very little introduction. The combination of being relatively so far south, plus the influence of the Gulf Stream on the long expanse of Cornish coast, makes this a very mild place, encouraging unusual tree and plant life. Cornwall is also full of history. From King Arthur's castle on the north coast to the tin mines that spread across the county, there are centuries of history to enjoy. The world famous Eden Project brings you right up to date and there are endless wonderful experiences to be found and enjoyed during your holiday.

With nearly 476 kilometres of coastline, Cornwall's beaches are rated among the best in the world. Just a few minutes from Penpol View is the world famous Fistral beach and Towan, Great Western, Lusty Glaze, Crantock, Tolcarne, Porth, Little Fistral beaches aren't bad either !!

Based here at Pentire, there are plenty of places to visit. Right on your doorstep is Fistral Beach, the world renowned surfing beach, Newquay town and the remaining 6 beaches and on this side of Pentire headland is the Gannel Estuary and Crantock beach. Other local attractions are Newquay Zoo, Blue Reef Aquarium, Lighthouse Cinema and for the energetic there are tennis courts, golf, coasteering, Go Karts, paint balling and riding. Not to mention surfing, body boarding, wave skiing, paddle surfing or take to the air with kite surfing and kite bugging

For dining there are many high quality venues in Newquay, the Lewinnick Lodge (dog friendly) with breathtaking views of Fistral beach and the coastline towards Padstow, is just a short walk along Pentire headland from your accommodation, or perhaps try Silks Bistro or the C Bar overlooking Fistral beach .A little further afield is Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant at Watergate Bay, or Rick Stein's Seafood restaurant at Padstow. Whatever your choice, you will find it here.
