Enjoy the experience of staying in a traditional salt-box home called the 'Louise House', that has been lovingly restored to respect it's over 150 year old past, with all of the modern touches of today, for optimum comfort. Called the 'Louise House' because both the past and current owners coincidentally have Louise as their names and during the restoration, a vase with the Princess Louise was found. She was one of Queen Victoria's daughters who married Canada's fourth Governor General. It was meant to be!
This three bedroom, two full bath (shower in one, clawfoot tub with a view of the harbour in the other) is located in the picturesque town of Joe Batt's Arm and overlooks the harbour, with an unobstructed view right out to the shoreline which is part of the property across the road.
It has a beautiful back deck to BBQ on and sit and watch the sunsets and the world go by, that is more private. Or enjoy the front porch (bridge) to say hello to folks passing by.
It is centrally located with a short walk to the world-famous Fogo Island Inn, the Scoff Restaurant, Growlers Ice Cream, Tina's Gas Bar and Grocery and the post office.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a new fridge, new stove and new dishwasher and the laundry has a new washer and dryer for your convenience.
The house has new mattresses (Endy mattresses), sheets, towels and pillows to round out this timeless experience. Two bedrooms have double beds and one bedroom has a large single bed.
The house has a wood stove for ambience or for those chilly nights as well as electric heat in all the rooms.
There is parking at the house for two cars and a shed out back for storage and wood.
Debbie (Fogo Island Catering) is available to help with hot meals and picnics for an additional charge. They can be arranged ahead of time or when you're on the island and you want to eat at home or take a picnic somewhere.
And Sarah and her family (Fogo Island Bus Tours) can be hired for a fabulous island orientation from a locals perspective.
