2 bedroom, 4/6 berth family apartment in Chateau

The ideal family location for winter and summer activities set in stunning mountainous scenery. This modern and recently renovated apartment is set up for our family of five, and has everything that you require for a comfortable stay. Big selling points are the football sized lawn and the patio, from which you enjoy amazing uninterrupted and private views of the Ariege mountains. The bedrooms are mezzanine and the beds are new and very comfortable. The master bedroom has a queen sized bed, and the other bedroom has two singles and a futon. Downstairs we have a sofa bed for those extra guests. The kitchen is very modern and set up for fine dining. We have a large bath and shower in the modern bathroom, which has a separate toilet.

We are teachers with three children who spend as many holidays as possible exploring this beautiful mountainous region. We love our mountain activities just as much as love our reading days sitting on the patio. We have been coming here for over 16 years, and we have come to love this magical Cathar retreat.

This is a very special place for family outdoor holidays, or just for getting away from it all. We've gone to an effort to make the apartment comfortable and well equipped for a relaxing visit. We have limited internet for a good reason, but we do have lots of books and games, and DVDs if you need some screen time.

What makes this apartment unique

Caves, Cathar castles, the train to Toulouse or Spain, good local ski resorts, proximity to Andorre and Spain, good access to a number of airports, great mountain huts for food and accommodation when hiking, GR10 is close by.

Peaceful perfect paradise

Just back from France and wanted to say thank you so much for the use of the apartment. I checked the guest book and I had indeed stayed as a guest back in June 2007 in the same apartment!! It was all I remembered and felt fantastic to be back in such a great apartment and beautiful surroundings. Rae was a great help welcoming us and recommending places to go.

The apartment was well equipped and a haven to come back to each evening after our adventures. Relaxing on the patio wine in hand and views out of picture books!! Awesome to drive up the route of the mountain stage of the Tour de France - right on the doorstep, to the ski station at plateau de beille. We took one of the hiking routes up in the clouds and took in the spectacular Pyrenees views. The village Les Cabannes(5 mins walk) had a fantastic restaurant ( A La Montanha) that served wonderful local produce -a gem!!

I hope to keep your details and would love to visit again sooner rather than later.

Une location au confort "comme à la maison" dans un cadre très privilégié. la location est grande et très bien équipée et le point de départ idéal pour sillonner dans les environs.

Pyrénées ariegeoises en été en famille : ballades et détente

Famille lilloise de 4 personnes avec 2 filles de 8 et 6 ans, nous avons passés 4 nuits chez Colin & Elinor Smith fin juillet 2017 et sommes ravis de notre séjour.

Plateau de Beille très facilement accessible, village des Cabanes a 5 min à pieds (ttes commodités), villes de Foix (visite du Chateau) ou Ax-Les-Thermes très sympa à découvrir (possibilité depuis Ax de prendre les oeufs jusqu'à la station de Bonascre pour profiter des activités de montagne l'été y/c la piscine en plein air avec un très joli panorama).

Nous avons eu la chance de pouvoir visiter le Chateau de Gudanes jouxtant la location, en pleine restaurations faites avec beaucoup de soins (peintures, plafonds décorés,, moulures, ..).

Points très positifs : l'attention portée par les proprietaires (non présents dans notre cas - en UK) pour répondre aux moindres soucis rencontrés.

Vin local (x2 bouteilles) gentiment offert à l'arrivée.

Points positifs : propreté du logement, literie, equipements (jeux, fond d'epicerie, linge de toilette/lit,..), emplacement (vue sur montagne, jardin commun/partagé agréable).

Espace de vie en RDC agréable.

Logement frais par temp. ext. importante.

Points à améliorer a notre sens : éclairage terrasse extérieure, (absence lave-vaisselle).

Point à noter : chambres en mezzanine ouvertes sur la partie en RdC limitant l'intimité (chambre x2 lits simples pouvant toutefois être fermée par porte de communication entre les 2 espaces chambres de la mezzanine).

Impression générale : très positive.
