This 200 year-old traditional stone watermill has been cleverly converted into three individual and attractive cottage-style apartments. In an idyllic riverside setting beside tumbling torver beck, the apartments are full of character and retain many original features such as exposed stone walls and beams, whilst ensuring comfort and warmth after the day's activities.

A grassy lane alongside the beck leads to a large wooded field - a great place for children's games and a haven for dogs - and then on to the secluded waterfront.

If you love the tranquil beauty of the lakes, and find yourself drawn to the pretty becks and peaceful waterfronts, this is the perfect holiday destination for you.

Situated on the quiet western shore of Coniston Water, not far from Peel Island ('Wildcat Island' of Swallows and Amazons fame), and surrounded by beautiful countryside, Sunny Bank Mill boasts private lake frontage and has its own jetty where you can launch your own boat or just sit and enjoy the scenery.

The three cosy apartments (Dipper, Robin and Wren) sleep 4, 4 and 2 respectively. Thick stone walls and individual layouts give each its own quirky character. Furnished to a high standard they are equipped with everything you will need to enjoy your holiday.

Whether you like to sit and admire stunning views, or would rather get out and explore by foot, bicycle, sail or paddle, these cottages make an ideal holiday base for a family, or a romantic getaway for 2, any time of the year.

Formed from the original wheelhouse, Dipper cottage has a wonderful outlook straight onto the rocky waterfalls of the beck. The front door enters surprisingly at first floor level into a beamed entrance hall off which lie the 2 bedrooms and bathroom. The master bedroom looks out over the beck and boasts a king-size bed. The second bedroom has twin beds.

Quaint winding stairs lead down to an attractive and carefully thought-out open-plan living area comprising smart fitted kitchen, dining area and comfy seating with flat-screen TV. The low window-seat has a great view straight out onto the pretty waterfalls.

Here one can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the countryside so beloved by Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter, Arthur Ransome (to name but a few) and yet be within easy reach of charming villages and towns with all the attractions they have to offer. 4 miles from Coniston, a small but busy typical Lakeland town, and just three-quarters of a mile from Torver, where there is an excellent pub. Popular tourist centres such as Ambleside, Grasmere and Hawkshead are about half an hour away by car. Sunny Bank is an ideal location for mountain walking, boating, swimming, sailing and other water-based activities. Bring your own boat or hire our canadian canoes.
