|Minimum Stay||3 - 7 nights|
Truly STUNNING VIEWS from Hillcrest Cotswolds cottage, by day & by night.
In a beautifully romantic setting, Hillcrest cottage is "one of those places which stay in your memories for ever' -( from the visitors book). The views are panoramic and from all rooms, the garden and BBQ terrace. It is a home from home Cotswolds cottage in a contemporary rustic style, supporting local businesses with from furniture makers, artists, to 'wonderful' vintage warehouses ( info in the cottage).
I believe a picture says a thousand words and so I hope I have posted the best pictures to describe our cosy cottage but in words, starting with my favourite room.....
Stepping out onto the main bedroom balcony as the sunsets is truly quite magical . The lights sparkling along the valley by night and with dawn breaking spotlights along the Golden valley early morning. (But the views are from all rooms). The main bedroom has a Kingsize bed with a pocket sprung matress firm and soft pillows. There is a large corner sofa from which to enjoy the views on stay at home days too!
THE TWIN BEDDED ROOM also has pocket sprung matresses and we dress it with a few accessories when little people stay, (happy children have happy parents)!
THE BATHROOM is white, simply furnished and has a shower over the bath with curved glass screen.
Downstairs there is plenty of current holiday reading and best sellers should you want to chill and relax with the log burner in the cosy lounge, (we supply kindling and brickets from end September to beginning of May).
KITCHEN /DINING (entrance door)
The cottage feels spacious with the open plan kitchen dining area . The cottage supports local businesses with gorgeous wooden products, the rustic dining table a firm favourite has been ordered by many guests... As well as all the essentials it has a microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, iron, cafetiere , hand mixer , creamer , white crockery and large wine glasses etc! Double patio doors opening onto the garden and front door....with stunning views.
If there specific items you require as a keen cook, please ask at booking and if we dont have already we will always do our best to supply in the cottage for your stay.
For a special vintage style afternoon tea , do ask and we can arrange beautiful vintage china to set the scene too.
We hope you are here to experience the area, so the cottage doesnt have massive tvs but it has a tv dvd with freeview, plenty of recent paperbacks , i pod docking station.
The garden is well maintained and has those same STUNNING VIEWS. Down a few steps and you are on the sheltered BBQ terrace with quality garden furniture and charcoal weber BBQ....a great place to eat as the sun goes down.
There is driveway parking outside our cottage next door for one car .We do advise guests seeing each other out of the property as the Cotswolds stone walls can block views, especially on lower chassis cars.Further cars can park in the lane opposite or the nearby layby.
We, next door, have a well behaved dog Chester, who loves children. He attends agility training so has several tricks to show you . Please let me know if you dont like dogs- though you may change your mind!
I am sorry we dont take pets (or Chester)in the cottage though!
I moved to this part of the Cotswolds in 2004, having absolutely fallen in love with the area , the countryside and finding there was so much to do and see.
I have been a textile and product designer for many years and so thoroughly enjoyed getting the cottage ready for holiday rental.
I love painting, photography and many of my pieces are in the cottage. I love gardening but my most recent passion is collecting from auctions ,carboots, and charity shops for my prop hire business...which is ever growing !
Tricia Prince purchased this cottage in 2004
It was part of a family home but is now 2 totally self contained cottages for us and our holiday guests...it has the most STUNNING VIEWS and from every room.. I keep saying it but even locals say 'WOW' to the views. The cottage is lovely, stylish and well equipped too . I hope the pictures will tell the story but I am told they still dont show the enormity of that VIEW.
This property is in an area where there is genuinely so much to do and see from Cotswolds history, to gliding, ballooning, arts festivals, walking, auctions and antiques, golf, equestrian eventing, castles to visit , horseriding , Country Fayres and so much more........ It is no accident that the Royals have chosen to livein this part of the Cotswolds!
This cottage will really stand out for the absolutely STUNNING VIEWS, which many guests say, my photos still dont do the views justice but you cant see the "enormity" of the view and the depth as it drops away into the valley too. The views wrap around Hillcrest cottage and us next door, and we still say WOW, even after 12 years living here.....
I am happy to answer any queries re the cottgae and the area......
The cottage too is very homely with a Cotswolds rustic feel and a contemporary twist. I have tried to make it everything I would want in a cottage. I also painted the canvases on the walls and the photos in frames were all taken locally.
We, the owners, live next door. so we are on hand should you need anything but we are dicreetly absent too....We are friendly welcoming hosts, as backed up by many visitor reviews on tripadvisor.
I am happy to collect travellers without tranport from the local train station, take you to the nearest car hire place ( check with us documents required for car hire prior to your stay) and similarly drop/ collect you from local locations if caught walking in the rain etc...
Most of our repeat business is from returning guests or from recommendations of previous guests to family and friends.
We are friendly neighbours and as such you will arrive to a lit, warm, cosy cottage and I will be here to welcome you in with keys, show you the basics , give directions to the supermarket etc...so you can settle in straight away.
I am happy to recommend eating out and make your reservations too.
If you have a special occasion, you can also borrow a few vintage props!!!PLease ask for details. We have had a few marriage proposals , weddings from our cottages etc
The cottage is well equipped , including wifi and there is genuinely so much to do locally.. please feel free to ask with your preferred requirements-we are happy to give advice and help.
"Stunning views, beautiful comfortable cosy cottage, and the host provides a wealth of information to make the most of your stay."
Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend in the Cotswolds and coming 'home' to the cottage every evening. The cottage is located well with panoramic views over the valley towards Stroud.
The cottage is fully equipped with everything you need for a stay home from home and the log burner make for a cosy warm cottage.
Our two and half year old especially enjoyed the box of soft toys in the lounge and the cuddly doggies in his bedroom! "
Highly recommend Hillcrest.
We had a wonderful stay at Hillcrest cottage. The views are absolutely stunning and the cottage has everything you would need for a relaxing stay. Tricia, the owner, could not be more helpful and was really good at offering suggestions about where to eat and what to see. There are some lovely walks from the cottage and beautiful villages and towns close by. The local pubs are good, with nice food, although some of them can get very busy on the weekends. A great stay. I would thoroughly recommend it.
My family had a great stay at Hillcrest Cottage. The location was unbelievably picturesque and the cottage had everything we needed for a two week stay. Tricia was very accommodating and helped us find places to visit, local shops, great restaurants and even helped us navigate the parking! Hillcrest was a fantastic base to explore the Cotswolds and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend.
We had a wonderful break over Easter, despite the rain. Tricia was very welcoming and provided us with loads of info and places to go etc. Hillcrest is a very cosy place to stay with stunning views - highly recommended.
SURPRISING ACTIVITES to TRY
Our hills and valleys make some additional sports possible .We have 2 gliding clubs, hot air ballooning, paragliding.
A walk from here is Rush skate park, a world class indoor bmx /skate boad park or staying on the active theme learn to waterski on the safety of a man made lake on the Waterpark.
On a practical level, Waitrose and Morrisons are just 2 miles away with our Saturday award winning Farmers market. There is a Tesco under 3 miles and Sainsburys 4 miles.

If we are booked in Hillcrest we also have Ambrose cottage too.It also sleeps 4 and is partially behind Hillcrest but still with some lovely views and all the benefits of the area. Please ask for details.
The price is linked to it being a smaller cottage with a good but less of a view than Hillcrest cottage.
FARMERS MARKET/EATING OUT
The Award winning farmers market provides local organic products and is a must on Saturday mornings. If you dont want to cook we have an excellent choice of great eating out within 3 miles - I provide plenty of advice to help you chose including those with open fires.
Gatcombe Park and Badminton horse trials , home to some key equestrian eventing are just 2 and 8 miles away.
We have excellent riding stables too, for a lesson or a hack on 300 acres of private land.
It is a very arty area full of interesting people who help devise the food, music, film, arts and textiles festivals. Antiques and auctions
I provide alot of extra info in the cottages with photos to make your choices on where to go to make the most of your stay with out spending hours researching.
But for walkers and ramblers....you will be totally spoilt and set off from the cottages, taking in spectacular views , award winning local ice cream, and lovely pubs ...2 of my walks are listed in the cottages so you just take a sheet and go....
VINTAGE BARGAIN HUNTERS
For the vintage bargain hunter, we have antique shops galore (15 minutes away in Tetbury) , and auctions regularly featured on TV and boot fairs all year too...info in the cottages.( my particular passion).
PICNIC AT POLO
Try a lazy Sunday afternoon 'Picnic at Polo', where matches are played in a gorgeous setting, just 10 minutes away....picnic baskets and foldaway chairs in the cottage, from May to September and watch the "Royals" at the charity event- world class!
Painswick, Minchinhampton ,Nailsworth, Tetbury, Cirencester Cheltenham, Gloucester are all close by . Bath is only 35 minutes by car.The very busy known tourist towns are only 35 minutes away too but be prepared as you can be waiting ages to get into the towns or to find a parking space...do ask for advice on best times to visit them...we are lucky here in the" undicovered Cotswolds" in that tourim blends in and we dont get coachs blocking the roads! But we are a magnet for film locations and we have been the temporary home for several film crews for Cidar with Rosie, the Casual Vacancy, and a few leser known ones too.
