STUNNING VIEWS of the Cotswolds in AONB

Bedrooms 2
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

STUNNING VIEWS from luxury & Romantic Cotswolds Cottage

Truly STUNNING VIEWS from Hillcrest cottage, by day & by night.

In a beautifully romantic setting, Hillcrest cottage is "one of those places which stay in your memories for ever" -( quoted from the visitors book). The views are very impressive from all rooms, but especially from the bedroom balcony.

The cottage is well equipped and stylishly decorated in a contemporary rustic style. As well as full central heating, it has a cosy log burner in the lounge for winter evenings or several sets of double doors opening onto the balcony and garden for balmy summer days too. Watching the sunset on the balcony with a glass of wine is quite special.

If a picture says a thousand words, these pictures of Hillcrest cottage and the incredible view should help to show why this cottage will make your stay quite unique experience.

A spacious , light and airy main bedroom includes a comfortable kingsize bed with choice of hard and softer pillows and a large white corner sofa for relaxing at the end of the day. Stepping out onto the main bedroom balcony is quite special, enjoying views of the garden and beyond along the Golden Valley.

THE TWIN BEDDED ROOM also has pocket sprung matresses and we dress it with a few accessories when little people stay, (happy children have happy parents)!

THE BATHROOM is white, simply furnished and has a shower over the bath with curved glass screen.

Downstairs there is plenty of current holiday reading and best sellers should you want to relax with the log burner in the cosy lounge, (we supply the firt basket of kindling and brickets from end September to beginning of May).

KITCHEN /DINING (entrance door)

The cottage feels spacious with the open plan kitchen-dining area . It has all the essentials including a microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, iron, cafetiere , hand held whisk, creamer , white crockery and large wine glasses etc!

In the summer it is lovely to be able to open the double doors from the lounge and kitchen dining room onto a patio area and garden or drop down to the circular BBQ patio....all with stunning views.

If there specific items you require as a keen cook, please ask at booking and if we dont have already we will always do our best to supply those items before your stay.

For a special vintage style afternoon tea , do ask and we can arrange beautiful vintage china to set the scene too.

We hope you are here to experience the area, so the cottage doesnt have massive tvs but it has a tv dvd with freeview, plenty of recent paperbacks , i pod docking station.

The garden is well maintained and has those same STUNNING VIEWS. Down a few steps and you are on the sheltered circular BBQ terrace with quality garden furniture and weber BBQ( takes charcoal)....It is a great place to eat as the sun goes down and and the valley lights up against the night sky.

We hope you will make use of the traditional picnic wares available for days out from the cottage

There is driveway parking outside our cottage next door for one car .We do advise guests seeing each other out of the property as the Cotswolds stone walls can block views, especially on lower chassis cars. Further cars can park in the lane opposite or the nearby layby.

We, the owners live next door, & have 2 dogs Chester, who attends agility training so has several tricks to show you & the most gentle Tula rescued from Cyprus too. We ask prospective guests to let s know before booking if they have any concerns. No pets are permitted in the cottage!

The garden is well maintained all year and has herbs in the borders for culinary flavourings. Down a few steps is the circular BBQ area with a large round table and chairs to enjoy those wrap around views.

Most guests say "WOW" on arrival and how much they will miss them on departure.

We do whatever we can to ensure guiests enjoy their stay. Our aim is to create the experience we would like when we go away!

About Tricia Prince

I moved to this part of the Cotswolds in 2004, having absolutely fallen in love with the area , the countryside and finding there was so much to do and see.

I have been a Home product designer for many years and so thoroughly enjoyed getting the cottage ready for holiday rental.

I love painting, photography and many of my pieces are in the cottage. I love gardening but my most recent passion is collecting from auctions ,carboots, and charity shops for my wedding prop hire business...which is ever growing !

Eating out is another sociable passtime I enjoy and there is a list with my comments of some of the local eatieries balancing price and quality!

Tricia Prince purchased this cottage in 2004

Why Tricia Prince chose Brimscombe

With its lovely warm Cotswolds stone and wooden beams, but we fell in love with the cottage instantly and still do not believe how lucky we are to enjoy those simply STUNNING VIEWS.

I hope the pictures tell the story. We said WOW to the views 13 years ago and we still say WOW today!

What makes this cottage unique

The scale of the STUNNING VIEWS from the cottage will really surprise you and will make his cottage quite unique. My past guests say my photos still dont do the views justice.

Watch the amazing sunsets from the bedroom balcony & when the light goes, the valley lighting up is simply magical.

We think the cottage is pretty special too!

I am happy to answer any queries re the cottage and the area......

We are your friendly welcoming hosts & live next door, so are on hand should you need anything but are dicreetly absent too... ,

We will welcome you in to a lit and warm cottage, with your keys for your stay... No impersonal key safes to deal with. If you want supper out on your first evening, we are happy to recommend and make your reservation for you.

If you have any special requirements we are happy to help wherever we can.

Guestbook comments from the manager

"Stunning views, beautiful comfortable cosy cottage, and the host provides a wealth of information to make the most of your stay."

Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend in the Cotswolds and coming 'home' to the cottage every evening. The cottage is located well with panoramic views over the valley towards Stroud.

The cottage is fully equipped with everything you need for a stay home from home and the log burner make for a cosy warm cottage.

Our two and half year old especially enjoyed the box of soft toys in the lounge and the cuddly doggies in his bedroom! "

Highly recommend Hillcrest.

Owner's Response: So glad your enjoyed the cottage, your stay and the views.I hope the evening at Stroud Brewery went down well ....it is so quirky and great with live music most Saturdays and easy to walk to. This weekend is Stroud fringe music festival with stages throughout town and such a great atmosphere.. with a few well known musicians living locally we are always wondering if they will take to the stage too! I think you must have covered quite a few walks of our lovely walks from the cottage too.

Owner's Response: So pleased you loved your breakaway here in the Cotswolds and loved the cottage too. We have tried to make it a "home from home" cottage. ... and with those views we hope it is the bolt hole you can happily stay in or look forward to your return at the end of the day! Really lovely splurge

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was great. A real treat. Everything was in its place and nothing was too much bother. Definitely not the sort of thing we could afford to do every week, but romantic and with great views.

Owner's Response: Really pleased you liked the cottage and the views ...Please consider that the cottage sleeps 4 guests so when 4 adults are staying to share the cost, it is similar price (per adult per night) of many B&B's... not quite the Romantic Break with another couple though! We have had several marriage proposals made on Hillcrest cottage balcony with the view of sparkling lights by night in the valley views, so we like to it is quite the Romantic place to stay.

Owner's Response: I am so pleased you loved your stay at Hillcrest cottage. Regular Cotswolds visitors cannot believe the stunning views we have around here and especially from Hillcrest cottage. I have tried to make the cottage everything I would want when I go away and it is lovely that you suggest I have succeeded. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review, and of course we would love to welcome you back some time in the future, perhaps to try a different season !!

Amazing views and a lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Hillcrest cottage. The views are absolutely stunning and the cottage has everything you would need for a relaxing stay. Tricia, the owner, could not be more helpful and was really good at offering suggestions about where to eat and what to see. There are some lovely walks from the cottage and beautiful villages and towns close by. The local pubs are good, with nice food, although some of them can get very busy on the weekends. A great stay. I would thoroughly recommend it.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review of Hillcrest cottage ...It is very difficult for me to know how to best describe the cottage , as I only want to be accurate, ... so it is lovely that you, and probably all our guests, agree with my description of absolutely "STUNNING VIEWS" , which I write with confidence. My family feel very priviledged to live in an area with so much to do and see... and it is lovely that we have the holiday cottage to share with others too. I like to share my ideas on where to eat and where to go (in my locals folder) , so that anyone staying can make the most of their time here. Hopefully all our guests leave here, having had a true holiday!! Thank you again. Tricia

So many lovely walks from the doorstep, with plenty of pubs, good food and log fires.

This area is full of artisan shops from Cotswold crafts to Vintage purchases. Bid for a bargain at auction(often on TV).

There is a guide in the cottage welcome book.

The Award winning farmers market provides local organic products and is a must on Saturday mornings. If you dont want to cook, there is an excellent choice of great eating out within 2 miles - I provide plenty of advice to help you chose including those with open fires.

Gatcombe Park and Badminton horse trials , home to some key equestrian eventing are just 2 and 8 miles away.

We have excellent riding stables too, for a lesson or a hack on 300 acres of private land.

Our hills and valleys make some additional sports possible .We have 2 gliding clubs, hot air ballooning, paragliding.

A walk from here is Rush skate park, a world class indoor bmx /skate board park (with 3 rinks)or even learn to waterski at the Cotswolds Waterpark.

It is a very arty area full of interesting people who help devise the food, music, film, arts and textiles festivals. Antiques and auctions.

Painswick, Minchinhampton ,Nailsworth, Tetbury, Cirencester Cheltenham, Gloucester are all close by Bath is only 35 minutes by car.The more busy tourist towns of Stow on the Wold, Bibury, Boughton on ning Farmers market.
