We fell in love with Italy on our first visit and holidayed there for several years, we always had the idea in the back of our minds that we would like to own our own property there one day. One year, for a change, we decided to explore the region of Abruzzo, a place we had never visited before. This is when we discovered Citta' Sant'Angelo; it was the end of May, the sun was shining and we were able to swim in the sea and there was still snow covering the mountain tops. We couldn't believe this beautiful town we were looking up at- the surrounding views were just staggering. We realised that this had to be the place for us. After doing some research, a couple of years later we embarked on a property tour of the region- on our very first day we arrived at the top of the drive and looked down at the house and, without seeing inside, knew that this was the one. We dreamed of a house in a rural location, with some land, in walking distance to the town, with spectacular views - and boy did we find what we were looking for!
The incredible view is what really made us fall in love with this house. From the Adriatic coast to the Appenini mountains, it really does have it all. We like to make the most of the stunning location and spend most of our time outside in the garden, whether it's taking a dip in the plunge pool, sunbathing, playing table tennis or sitting by the outdoor fire place in the evening. Hidden within the hills of Citta' Sant Angelo, the house is surrounded by olive, apple, pear, plum, apricot, fig and walnut trees- we encourage all guests to help themselves! We harvest the olives ourselves and work with a local farmer in order to make our own olive oil which is a real treat! Although the house is situated within a rural setting, the beauty of it is that we are just a stones throw away from the bustling medieval town of Citta' Sant Angelo. Within a 10 minute walk you will reach Margazillo's, one of Abruzzo's finest restaurants or you can carry on for another 10 minutes and arrive at the bar where all of the locals congregate- we love to order a take away pizza and have a drink with the locals whilst we wait. Another huge benefit of our location, is that within a 15 minute drive you can arrive at the coast. We love spending the day on the beach, swimming in the sea and stopping for lunch at one of the local lido's where they serve mouthwatering, freshly caught fish and homemade pastas. In the autumn, we love nothing better than a long countryside walk, from the house you can enjoy stunning views of the local mountains, Gran Sasso and Maiella. The house really is our very own paradise with everything we could hope for on our doorstep!
Very nice villa set in rolling hills with a beautiful view of the local hilltop town. The ground floor and terrace in particular are very spacious with plenty of room for 10 people to spread out and relax.
Very picturesque. Rolling hills, vineyards and olive groves all around. The house is a considerable distance from other properties so is very peaceful.
The owner and manager are both very helpful. A delight to stay there!
Comfortable country house recommended for families and all those interested in discovering Abruzzo. Superbly located with views of the rolling hills, sea and the ancient town of Citta Sant'Angelo. Easy, private access road, well-maintained and a gem of a terrace for relaxing evenings.
The house is set in a private location but still close to town, coast, restaurants, shopping facilities and Pescara airport. The plunge pool is suitable for cooling off but is relatively small and cannot be used by larger groups at the same time. The owner and house manager are very friendly and helpful. Definitely had a great stay and hopefully we'll be back in this wonderful part of Italy.
