Jacky and Marie-Jeanne purchased this apartment in 2012
We are discreet but present at if needed!
Included in the price, our hosts find in the fridge: fresh drinks (mineral water, fruit juice, milk), some fresh products.
At your disposal too: coffee, tea, jam, sugar, toasts, etc
We are also very happy to welcome our guests with a special gift, a souvenir from Dijon to take back home !
I can not recommend this apartment enough, the location alone is fantastic. The main square is right there and I never tired of the view of the Notre Dame. The fantastic market is a very short walk away. The car park is easy to find and close by. Make sure you get the landlord to help with 'negotiating' the price.
But the apartment is so lovely, so well appointed. Nothing missing, welcome pack much appreciated. Such a bonus to have a kitchen and washing machine. Little things like the umbrellas and the stocked cupboards of necessities (olive oil, coffee, salt pepper, garbage bags etc.)was much appreciated.
We had a small 'glitch' on arrival but was sorted immediately by the lovely and very charming Jacquy. What a treasure, and his exquisitely charming wife, Marie Jeanne were a highlight of our time in Dijon. The afternoon we spent with them will be forever a very fond memory of our time there.
I will happily recommend this apartment to friends and family and can't wait to return one day.
The apartment is situated right in the center of the historic center of Dijon in a Hotel Particulier. The property is tastefully decorated, very clean and well organized. The historic center, restaurants and the market are just a short walk away. Our hosts, Jacky and Mary Jeanne were very friendly and helpful in responding to our needs. The communication and email response time when I booked it was fast and clearly communicated. Encore merci a tous.
Every element of this rental experience could not have been better. Making the booking and communicating before we arrived was very easy: emails were replied to promptly and in good English.
The property itself was as described and shown in the photographs. Spotlessly clean, it was comfortable but had definite French flair in it's décor. There were many thoughtful touches such as a well stocked bathroom cabinet (boxes of plasters for blistered feet!), an umbrella and a bowl of bonbons. A lovely selection of goods for our first breakfast was a particularly good feature.
The location of the apartment really could not be improved on. It is right in the heart of "old" Dijon, there are great restaurants, cafes, a bakery, supermarket and a traditional covered market within a few steps of the front door. Also there is a stop for a free bus that circles round the town every 10 minutes just 25 metres or so down the road.
All of the above would make L'Ecrin Ducal a fantastic place to stay but the undoubted standout feature are the owners, Jacky and Marie Jeanne. Other reviews suggested that they were great hosts but my husband and I were still unprepared for just how kind , generous, warm and welcoming they were to us. Even though our French is poor and Jacky and Marie Jeanne speak little English we spent a wonderful , entertaining evening with them where we were treated like old friends rather than 'clients'. It really was a privilege to have met such an interesting, charming and kind couple.
I know this review does sound a bit "gushing", but in our opinion L'Ecrin Ducal really is the perfect rental.
L'Ecrin Ducal couldn't have been better. It was clean, spacious, and located one block from Notre Dame (and across the street from a bakery). Our gracious hosts had stocked the kitchen with breakfast items and all the staples that we would need to keep house and be comfortable that week. We would highly recommend this apartment for one's stay in Dijon.
Jackie and Marie-Jean are the most gracious and generous hosts we've ever had the pleasure of meeting. We really felt like personal guests in their home rather than "clients". Jackie gave us a personalized tour of Dijon on our first day (while helping us move our rental from the street to a garage), then on our last day Jackie and Marie-Jean had us over for coffee and fresh-baked apple pie (delicious). They obviously enjoy meeting people and doing what they can to make the stay as enjoyable as possible.
The apartment was perfectly appointed and right in the centre of old Dijon - steps away from everything. We cannot recommend this property enough.
Merci Beaucoup Jackie and Marie-Jean!
We stayed two September nights in L'ECRIN DUCAL of Jacky et Marie-Jeanne, and can't over express our positive experience about it:
1. Most importantly, the location is bar none - you can see the spires of Dijon's Notre Dame from the large French window of bedroom and walk cross street to enter it; all the major historical, architectural, or artistic attractions one comes to Dijon for, let alone other conveniences such as restaurants, markets, and shopping, etc, are within a few minutes of walking distance. To the best of our knowledge, there are no major hotels in the close vicinity, therefore one can say this property is indeed in the center of centers of tourist lodging in Dijon.
2. The rooms are exactly and even better than the photos depicted. It is more than fully equipped, abundantly provisioned, and impeccably clean.
3. The hospitality of the owners is exceptional. Their family friend Viviane kindly rode us from the Dijon train station to the apartment, where Jacky was awaiting. We also received a bottle of the famous Crème de Cassis from him as a welcoming gift. He and the beautiful Marie-Jeanne bid us goodbye warmly and tipped the taxi driver with special instruction to take us to the lesser known backdoor of the Dijon train station so that our heavy luggage can avoid the long stairway of its front gate.
All in all, this stay added an equally wonderful experience in our Dijon trip.
We will recommend it to all our friends and colleagues. Ourselves will definitely come back to Jacky et Marie-Jeanne again.
