Perched on the hills of the village, “Maison de mon Père” evokes the architecture of old farm houses. You will be immediately seduced by the muffled atmosphere that takes away the linen veiling and the soft light of the whitewashed wood. A small wood-burning stove has been installed to make the environment of this country side house perfect.
Discover the charm of our houses built with old stones from the Perigord region, just 4 km away from Sarlat, on a hill that overlooks the valley of the Dordogne River. It is a privileged setting for comfortable holiday rentals in a village of typical, recreated houses built with materials coming from ancient farms in the southwest: white washed lime, dry stones, or rough wood. Our houses propose simplicity and nature. There are leisure facilities in the middle of this preserved nature, such as a panoramic swimming pool, a mini tennis court, play areas, ping pong, and so on. With the creation of a small vegetable garden, the past and the present are mixed into a pretty balance. Holidays for two in the studio, with the family in a picturesque house, or with friends in our group farm house (which was inspired by the architecture of the Dordogne’s tobacco dryers): we invite you into the calm and the sweet Périgord life. Dominique I. The central position is only a few minutes away from the region’s many tourist sites (caves, castles, gardens, bastides, among others). Everything is located within a 25 km radius from the Hameau du Sentier des Sources hamlet.
I was born and went to school in Sarlat, in the Dordogne region. I studied sociology in Bordeaux and I have travelled a lot in Africa and Asia. I started working at the age of 23, in construction studies office in Perpignan. In 1985, I went back to Bordeaux to work in an architect’s office, where I was responsible for renovations of old buildings in the preserved area of Bordeaux. At the age of 27, I decided that I wanted to settle in my beautiful home region: Sarlat in the Dordogne.
Dominique Imberty purchased this cottage in 1990
My numerous trips made me realise that my home region, the Dordogne, was a little paradise. For this reason, at the age of 27, I decided to settle in Sarlat, close to my family. I bought a pretty lot with a beautiful view of the Dordogne Valley. I wanted to share with others my love for this region. I designed the plot of the future farmhouses that I constructed with my own hands. The concept was to recreate a hamlet of ancient times with an architecture that is typical of the Périgord. Then, a small farm and a vegetable garden came to complete the environment. Now, we are developing walkways, we are planting orchards, we are reconstructing the walls built with old stones, and so on. We try to maintain the historic heritage that our ancestors left for us. My pleasure, my life is to be able to share this beauty and this sweetness of life in the Dordogne.
My knowledge and my love for this region give me the opportunity every day to guide my clients in their discovery of Dordogne. Our architectural and historic heritage is part of the numerous tourist interests. But for those wanting to discover the beautiful hidden villages in the countryside, to go hiking or to do sport activities (canoeing, speleology, mountain biking, climbing, among others), the Dordogne is a very beautiful holiday destination. It is a region where living calmly rhymes with gastronomy. These are the attractions that I invite you to discover by choosing for spending your holiday in the hamlet of the spring trail. To describe it, one day a guest wrote “a little paradise, in a dream region ». I thank him. Maybe see you soon, Dominique.
