About the property

Oceanfront, this home on a half acre of land in Hawaiian Paradise Park gives you the privacy and serenity you're looking for. Set just back from the cliffs it is in full view of the glorious sunrise and dramatic sapphire blue ocean year round! The landscaping, front gate and rock walls offer this home a nice degree of privacy.

The two story house has separation between the living areas and bedroom suites. Downstairs are two master suites, each with an en-suite bathroom. Both bedroom windows look out onto the ocean. Wake up and marvel at the views right from bed! The south suite bathroom has a full bathtub and shower and the north suite bathroom has a slate-tiled walk-in shower and two vanity sinks. The downstairs walls are finished with a lovely Venetian plaster decorative finish with soft ocean colors. There is also a laundry closet with washer and dryer close to the bedrooms for your convenience. Upstairs you will find an even more impressive view of the ocean from the covered lanai and from inside. Here is a living room, dining area and open kitchen. Also upstairs is a home office and another bathroom with shower. The floors are elegant wood with a decorative honu (sea turtle) in the center under the vaulted skylight. The gourmet kitchen is finished with granite tiled counters, stainless appliances, dishwasher and a Viking gas range, fun for cooks!.

The property is fully landscaped with beautiful bougainvillea, plumbago and colorful hibiscus flowering plants! The home is extremely well maintained. Water is provided via rain water catchment and is filtered for indoor use.

Hawaiian Paradise Park is conveniently located about 10 miles south of Hilo and the Hilo International airport. Gorgeous view and beautiful house

  • 4 of 5

Thanks for sharing your house with us. We especially loved sitting on the balcony and watching the sun rise, it was breath taking. We were limited to where we could travel because of the volcano eruption. We would have liked a Bible in the house, also, the wood blinds needed dusting and the shelves in the closet needs to be cleaned.

Lovely Oceanfront home

Gorgeous home. So close to the ocean cliffs that you get sea spray when the surf is high. View is breathtakingly!

Wet Stairs

  • 3 of 5

We had problems from the time we checked in. The shower in bedroom 2 did not work properly and the electrical outlets in that same bathroom blew. The handyman came and fixed the shower problem, but the electrical problem was never corrected to our satisfaction. We were told that the fuse would blow if using a curling iron. How can you rent out a house where you can't use a curling iron.

It rained the whole time we were there, (which isn't there fault) so the stairs were always wet. The bedrooms are on the first floor and the living area is upstairs. You have to use exterior stairs to go up.

The furniture in the living area is not comfortable. It looks more like porch furniture.

Owner's Response: Aloha Katherine, Thank you for the honest review of your experience at Kahikole. We value the opportunity to respond and hope that the information provided here will give future guests a full understanding of the nature of the problems you encountered. The shower was not and is not broken. After i stopped by the property, checked the shower operation and texted you photos of how to properly operate it you said you had no further problems. I'm so glad we were able to help so quickly! After speaking with a licensed electrician regarding the tripped GFCI outlet and showing him a photo of the curling iron you had, he stated that GFCIs are very sensitive and that the problem would be ongoing due to the nature of your appliance. We felt we did everything we could to solve the problem. Yes, the rain made everything in east Hawaii soggy for the duration of your stay. We were bummed too! Just to clarify for future guests, the stairs at Kahikole are within walls but the upper section is open and because the house is so close to the ocean (hence the AMAZING views!), moisture does cover the stairs especially when it is raining. The stairs are not directly exposed to the outside nor to rain. Thanks again for the review and the opportunity to clarify some issues you raised. We pride ourselves on great customer service and quick response times which I hope you'll agree we gave you. Mahalo and Aloha, Jessica and the Kahikole Crew

Exceptional views

  • 5 of 5

Outstanding views from this unusual but well laid-out floor plan. Both bedroom suites downstairs had wonderful views and the upstairs deck had the best of all. While we were there, whales came into view. The kitchen is great but the local food is so good you may never use it. This property is beautiful, but it is a ways out from Hilo (20-25 min). I would happily stay here again. The only drawback some in our party noted was that there's no beach or access to the water that we found. However, you can drive to some very nice beaches nearby.
