We do not have a garage, but it is very easy to park in the street. Guests are required to leave € 80 (or € 60 if you bring your own sheets) in the house before you leave for the maid. The spiral staircase inside the house and the stairs to the lower terrace present a certain danger for young children and a problem for people with reduced mobility.

Quirky house with brilliant outdoor space

  • 5 of 5

We spent 2 very enjoyable weeks in Bonnieux. The house is a traditional village house, tucked away in the jumble of houses that make up the village. The accommodation is split over 3 levels, with the 2 bedrooms on the first floor, lounge and kitchen on the ground floor with the shower room, loo and washing machine in the basement. As the whole village clings to the side of a hill, each side of the ground and first floors are on a slightly different level.

For us, the best aspect of the house was the outside space. There are 3 terraces, each on slightly different levels. The first, outside the front door, is fully shaded by the house in the morning and the vine growing over the trellis gives dappled shade for the rest of the day - most welcome when the temperature gets into the mid thirties!! It looks roughly west, along the flank of the Luberon, and catches the breeze/wind. The other 2 terraces, accessed via steps, catch more sun and less wind. Although the Mistral wasn't blowing strongly during our visit the lower terrace should be quite sheltered from it.

The house is a little more cluttered than the photos suggest, with a lot of stuff around the house and in the cupboards. This does rather restrict the space, for example in the kitchen there isn't much space to stow away your groceries. However this has the advantage that the house comes with the best equipped kitchen I have ever come across in a holiday rental. Being a tea lover I appreciated the kettle and teapot (quite unusual in a Continental rental), there are a range of pots, pans, kitchen gadgets and ovenproof dishes, and (in my experience exceptional) the kitchen knives were of good quality and sharp.

Bonnieux is a lovely village, and benefits from a weekly market, 2 bakers, a reasonably priced mini supermarket and an excellent butcher. Do visit the local cave co-operative, they have a wide range of excellent wines. Domaine de la Verrière and Chateau Canorgue are also worth a visit. The Flambé does great pizzas, Heure Bleue by Yoha and Le Fournil are both great places to eat.

Do contact Peter, we had a great time and would recommend this rental to friends.

Beautiful house, great lovation

  • 5 of 5

You can park your car below or above this lovely old house, and walk to everywhere with ease. Lots of stairs, but then it's Bonnieux where stairs and steep streets are a fact of life. If stairs are a problem, you may prefer a place in the valley. We found the house clean and well appointed, with everything we needed for comfort and enjoyment.

We enjoyed the nearby bakery, the Friday market, Andre's restaurant on top of the hill, a walk to the bories, visits to mearby towns, and just walking around.

We would definitely recommend this property to friends or relatives.

Ein besonderer Ort mit grossem Charme

  • 5 of 5

  • 2 of 5

Dommage !

Traumhafte Ferien in der Provence

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

The villages of the Luberon are superb. And Avignon and Aix-en-Provence worth the trip.

In summer, cultural events abound! Avignon Festival, piano festivals in Lourmarin, opera festival in Aix-en-Provence etc etc etc

Daily supplies are available in the village, as it contains several grocery stores, a pharmacy and a newsagent, outside the market, which is held on Fridays.
