Amazing property right on the beach!
The house was perfect for our two families of 4 adults and 4 teens. Plenty of space for everybody and all the common areas could easily accommodate us all (dining room, living room, outdoor patio area, etc...). The photos cannot convey how beautiful it is from the kitchen/living looking out over the beach/ocean. The property was in excellent condition while maintaining its local flavor. The outside area has an abundance of seating of all types. There is a large supply of lifejackets/snorkel gear and the kids had fun on the kayaks. Chenco and Lety (the caretakers / cooks) were so friendly and kept the place looking great - cleaning everything including the pool and outside area daily. We had 4 different dinners prepared by them and the Empanadas/Fish/Enchiladas/Ceviche we had were as good as any restaurant we visited without the hassle of finding a restaurant. The beach is a bit rocky in places, but as we are all big snorkeling fans it was amazing to see corals and fish just a few feet from shore. We took several walks in each direction and it was about a 35min walk to Akumal beach where you can snorkel with the turtles; do some shopping; or eat/drink on the beach and about a 20 min walk the other direction to a cool bar (Beached Bikini Bar) right on the beach. There was a security presence in/around the houses and it felt like they did a great job keeping an eye on things. It's about a 20min car ride to Tulum ruins (and the big grocery store right before it) and a little longer to go north to Playa del Carmen or XCaret. We will definitely be back.
Nine Ladies Who Loved Casa Texoma
We were a group of nine friends who traveled there for a getaway. We loved it!! The house was beautiful. We loved the staff who did all of our cooking and shopping for us. The food was delicious. The ocean was so close. I recommend renting a car to go there which we did not do as there were so many of us. We went to the ruins at Tulum and the cenotes. Enjoyed that very much.
Casa Texoma far exceeded our expectations!
Casa Texoma is a beautiful house with a pool and beach right outside your door. The house is well maintained, with large bedrooms, comfy living room and entertainment area. Plus a great roof top where you can sit and take in the sun or enjoy the view over the beach.
The caretakers, Chenco and Lety, were warm and kind, making us feel at home from the moment that we arrived. They were extremely kind to the kids. They came each morning and cleaned up the house and grounds, so everything was ready for us to start each day. We asked Lety to cook 4 dinners and each one was delicious and the cost reasonable. It was wonderful not to worry about cooking and Lety would leave the kitchen spotless and with the leftovers in the refrigerator.
The house had everything that a family needs from beach towels, well equipped kitchen, to outside gear - kayaks, snorkeling gear, pool toys/floaties, beach chairs, and my favorite, the hammock.
The house is located a short drive from Akumal where you can visit the local beach or eat at one of the many restaurants. We loved the Lol-ha which has a variety of food and is located right on the beach. The water is clear and warm, and provides a safe more shallow area for kids.
I would return to Casa Texoma in a heartbeat.
Beautiful, comfortable, great location
We spent a wonderful week here, enjoying the spacious and beautifully-furnished house, the beach immediately at our doorstep, the peaceful and quiet neighborhood, and the access to countless sights and activities - including the activity of relaxing in the hammock with a book. Chencho and Leti, the charming couple who provide cooking and housecleaning services, made several delicious dinners for us. It's an incredible luxury to come home from a busy day of climbing Mayan ruins or kayaking and snorkeling in the bay to a lovely dinner at the time of your choosing - no changing clothes, driving, looking for parking, cooking, cleanup; just a chance to relax at home and enjoy the evening with friends and family. When we did go out to explore the restaurant scene we had a couple of memorable dinners in Tulum, a foodie haven about 1/2 hour away. Arca and Rosa Negra were both top notch. As far as activities, we enjoyed the Rio Secreto tour, and the ruins at Tulum overlooking the sea are beautiful (go early, it gets crowded).
Mayan Riviera beachfront gem!
Wow. I loved the location and the house! Morning coffee on the beach every morning and then having the wonderful staff cook an authentic huevos mexicana was a great way to start the day every day. The security walking the beach all day/night was very comforting and I felt very safe in South Akumal. Okay, now for the highlights...watching turtles nest on the beach outside the villa and lay eggs was spectacular! Seriously, you walk out at night and onto the beach and you will see a 5 foot diameter turtle dig a hole and lay eggs. Amazing. I can't wait to go back and see it again. Another highlight was taking the kayak from the house and paddling over to the Akumal village for lunch, fun!
Very easy access to Tulum and Playa del Carmen. I will return.
Luxury Riviera Maya Experience!
Wow! Newly renovated Casa Texoma is the perfect beachfront destination. The service we received from the on-site caretakers was unparalleled. There is nothing like waking up to the smell of homemade Huevos Rancheros. South Akumal Bay's crystal clear waters were perfect for snorkeling with the turtles (gear is provided by the owners). We spent the evenings in town at "La Buena Vida" restaurant. Whether you are looking for a family vacation or a couples retreat, I would highly recommend this property.
Centrally located in the heart of the Maya Riviera, Akumal is easily accessible to many popular destinations such as Cancun and Tulum. In Mayan, Akumal means "Place of the Turtle" and brings visitors from all over the world to snorkel. Akumal Bay is located in the middle of 6 crystal clear bays that allow for optimal recreating including scuba diving, relaxing on the beach and even underground cave explorers. Directly offshore is the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second longest in the world. A number of Mayan ruins are also in close proximity. And for nature lovers and photographers, gorgeous jungles full of fresh water cenotes and exotic flora and fauna surround. We hope you enjoy!
