Spacious log home close to Raystown Lake - sleeps 12 - host up to 18 dinner guests

Are you ready for a great weekend getaway or family vacation? Built in 2017, Bear Bottom is a 2,700 sq ft log home nestled at the base of a mountain near James Creek, PA, and centered between 7 Points Marina and Raystown Lake Resort (10 min drive to each). The home sits on a private, 25 acre wooded property overlooking a pond. Enjoy sitting around the fire pit telling stories, roasting hot dogs, or making S'mores. Some guests may enjoy a round of paint ball with the varying topography or trying their luck fishing for bass in the pond. Other guests may enjoy relaxing in one of the rocking chairs on the wrap around porch/deck. If you're lucky, you may catch a glimpse of turkey, deer, bear, birds and more!

Inside, you'll find three floors. The main floor is open concept with cathedral ceilings in the living area, maple hardwood floors, gas fireplace, half bath, laundry room, dining room, spacious kitchen & breakfast nook. You will also find the carpeted master bedroom and a private bath with Jacuzzi tub and spa-inspired, stone floor shower. The second floor has a loft with beautiful views outside the large windows (great for quiet reading). There are three additional bedrooms on the second floor - two Queen beds and one Bunk Bed (Queen & Full), along with a full bath/shower. One of the bedrooms includes a private balcony area! In the basement (unfinished), you will find a ping-pong table and dart board.

If you enjoy outdoor adventures, Bear Bottom is minutes from Raystown Lake. Raystown Lake's Seven Points Marina area offers beach swimming, picnicking, boating, mountain biking, and much more! Take a morning hike on the Allegrippis Trails or in Trough Creek State Park. You can even kayak on the Juniata River. In nearby Huntingdon, you will find Lincoln Caverns, several great restaurants, and home to Juniata College. Those who venture a bit further can find attractions like Delgrosso's Amusement Park, Altoona Curve Baseball, Penn State Football, and several shopping centers.

During the winter months, we recommend 4WD/AWD vehicles due to rural mountain roads.

We had a great long weekend at this house. It couldn't have been nicer. It's definitely off the beaten path, which is exactly what we were hoping for. We are already planning to return next year.

Very nice log home in the middle of nowhere with peace and tranquility!

  • 5 of 5

The home was nicely decorated and cozy! The dirt road to the cabin on the other hand was a little difficult in a car I would definitely recommend a truck because some of the pot holes are rather large. The house has absolutely everything you need for a great getaway. We did have a problem with big ants near any sink in the house that was kind of annoying. The seating around the firpit is rather uncomfortable and not very relaxing but Overall the house is beautiful and if your looking for seclusion and wilderness this is definitely the place for you. Our family is looking forward to returning. Thank you Mark and Lisa for opening up your beautiful home for everyone we all can enjoy.

awsome place!

the home is beautiful we loved our stay! We had a nice celebration by the fire pit for my sons graduation with guitar music and hot dogs cooked on the fire. the only challenge for us was coming up with the sheets for the beds as no one had queens.
