PRIVATE STRUCTURE Eremo delle Rocce (Hermitage of the Rocks) is an elegant house, a renovated 19th century noble residence which was built on one of the seven medieval hermitages of Spoleto, the Eremo dell’Annunziata. Just 4 km from the historic town centre of Spoleto and its famous cathedral, the villa is located in a magnificent panoramic position amidst the beautiful woods of Monteluco, described and admired by Michelangelo who chose this area as a haven for his old age and, in a letter to Vasari, wrote that he felt 'great joy in the mountains of Spoleto, visiting these shrines.' Today the Eremo delle Rocce bestows upon its guests a wonderful sensation of escape from reality, thanks also to the scenic infinity pool, the well-kept, discreet garden and the welcoming rooms, offering total relaxation together with the art, culture and the wonderful gastronomic traditions of this area. Just a short drive away are the main art centres of Umbria: Montefalco, Bevagna, Assisi and Narni.
The villa has two floors. From the gate you go along a paved driveway to the stone steps leading up to the terrace with the main entrance. This opens, on the right, onto an open-plan dining room with the main kitchen while, on the left, a corridor leads to the reading room (where you can still see a cell of the old hermitage), the second kitchen and the TV room. From here you come to a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower and the main dining room, connected to the lavish living room. From the entrance, a wooden staircase leads up to an intermediate floor with an elegant marble bathroom with tub and then on up to a corridor on to which open two single bedrooms, a bathroom with shower and two double bedrooms, one of which has an ensuite bathroom with shower.
Around the house is an attractive well-kept garden with elegant boxwood hedges, colourful seasonal flowers, fragrant herbs and a trim lawn with many old trees, including palms and lindens. A relaxing outdoor seating area has been set up in the shade of these trees, in a panoramic position.. On the terrace in front of the main entrance is a veranda with outdoor dining area and an additional seating area. From the terrace, steps lead down to the spectacular infinity pool.
Set in front of the villa at a lower level, in a breathtaking panoramic position, is the spectacular infinity pool, reached along the stone steps from the entrance terrace, 10 metres away. Irregularly-shaped, it has a total length of 12 metres and a width varying between 3 and 6 metres, while the depth ranges from 140 cm to 195 cm. The pool is lined with blue mosaic and has active oxygen purification. Access to the water is down large steps and there is internal and external lighting. The 50 sq m paved solarium area is provided with sunbeds and armchairs. The annex at the bottom of the garden contains a bathroom with shower.
