About this property

1886 Historic farmhouse cottage

Relax and get away to the countryside!
Short drive to historic sites of Harpers Ferry; explore the shops, art and fine food restaurants of Frederick; take a scenic drive to award winning wineries and breweries!

Historic Town:
Jefferson is a rural town, surrounded by bucolic views of farms and open sky. Its' central location: 15 min. from Frederick, Harpers Ferry, Brunswick train station and an hour from Washington DC, has made this quaint little town a perfect, quick get away.

Cottage:
This cozy, two bedroom, cottage is ideal for a family or group of friends. Each bedroom has a private bath. The living room pull-out sofa can accommodate two additional guests with a powder room on the main floor. The house has a fully equipped kitchen, laundry room, outdoor seating and porches.

Cottage History:
Built in 1886, this cottage was originally part of a large dairy farm. The main property, often referred by locals as Right is Right Farm, was previously owned by the Lovell family who lived there for over three generations. This cottage remained vacant since the early 1970's and had one bath and a second winding service staircase in the back. The original wood siding, shutters, plaster, trim and wood flooring was fully restored.

Access:
Guests park and enter the property from a shared driveway to the rear of the home. Entrance into the house is through the back door in the kitchen. Guests have access to the backyard and front yard of Cottage property.

Neighboring Property:
Since the cottage was originally part of the neighboring property, it is very close to barns and out buildings. As tempting as they are to investigate, please note that this is the neighbors private property. Please stay only on Cottage property.

Contact Me:
I live in a neighboring town but please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I will be available through a phone call or text message anytime and I can be at the cottage within 20 minutes if there are any problems.

Everything we dreamed of
Well stocked! Great mattresses and bedding & linens. WiFi excellent. Immaculate restoration and amenities. Enjoyed the smart TV, Washer and Dryer, Coffee Maker, Stove, Oven, Toaster, the kitchen with everything, including a table to seat 6 and space for 6 to move about! 2 modern full baths (upstairs) plus a modern powder room (downstairs). Beautiful furniture and highly functioning. We were very comfortable and had long chats about childhood Christmas traditions. Nostalgia of Grandma's house made new.

Fantastic home close to many sites
We had a lovely stay. The house was cozy and very well appointed. Everything was nicely decorated and updated. The neighborhood was quiet and put us close to everything we wanted to see in the area.

Lovely home!
This is a beautiful, comfortable, and clean home. My husband and I enjoyed the Memorial Day weekend in this lovely renovated farm house. Mary Ann was a wonderful hostess. She was gracious enough to personally bring us folding chairs so that we attend the parade in Sharpsburg.

Lovely house
The house was beautiful and comfortable. We had everything we needed. The location was generally really quiet and peaceful (except early morning truck traffic that was easily drowned out with the white noise machine). Beautifully restored old house, plenty of outlets, good WiFi, and great walk in shower. Will definitely return if I visit the area again!

We have been residents of Lovettsville, VA for 9 years. Dan is a contractor specializing in historic rehabilitations. As an interior designer, Dan and I have worked together to design and sell many historic properties in Maryland. Once our family started to grow, we spent 2 years looking for an ideal farm and community to raise our family. We knew our search was over when we stumbled upon a 200 year old farm in the quaint, rural town of Lovettsville, VA.
