Ste Foy is ideal for us with young children. It has a really village atmosphere and all the amenities are very close. The Lifts are just a short walk away. The shop and ski hire shop owners are friendly and very helpful.
My husband and I spent a week at Chalet Aurelia in the middle of June. Debra from Sainte Foy Tarentaise Chalet rentals met us at the site and introduced us to our luxurious accommodation. The chalet was impeccably clean and the views from the windows and large balcony were mesmerizing. We both have quite a few food sensitivities making it difficult for us to eat in restaurants, so we really appreciated the well equipped kitchen. The wildflowers in the surrounding alpine meadows were in full bloom for our visit and we especially enjoyed the nearby protected ancient farming hamlet Le Monal (8 min by car to a parking area and then a half hour hike through gorgeous wildflower meadows). On another outing to the Parc National de la Vanoise we had the good fortune to come across the alpine ibex. We got a great picture of a male with huge horns. The house is equipped with high speed internet, cable TV and netflix and everything worked flawlessly.
We stayed at Aurelia the first week of August for our Dad Son adventure trip. Chalet Aurelia is a wonderful property in a ski lodge venue a short drive up the mountain road from Sainte Foy village. The region offers all manner of summer activities everything from hiking, kayaking to the more extreme, paragliding, canyoning, white water rafting, downhill mountain biking. This area boasts Val D'Isere and Tignes le Lac among others in the Alp mountains that just take your breath away. Morning views from the chalet balcony across the valleys are spectacular and fresh bread and everything else you need area two minute walk away at the local convenience store. My French is poor but the locals are very welcoming. Max and Deborah were also a huge help with logistics and getting set up for the week.
We booked most of our activities at 'Evolution 2' in Tignes Le Lac, about 30 minutes drive north of the chalet. Tignes Le Lac has a fantastic dedicated outdoor activity zone for sports enthusiasts and the tourist information desk is very helpful and there are plenty of places to eat and drink. Back to chalet and at night the village has several bars and restaurants (though you may need to book ahead in the smaller restaurant). If you are more adventurous there are numerous places to eat up and down the valley. The chalet is very spacious, clean and fully equipped for self-catering. Beds are very comfortable and the wifi and Apple TV box are great for the iPhone literate. The peace and air quality are everything you would expect from the location. I slept very well compared to back home in Warsaw.
You need a car to get around and it's about 3 hours drive from Geneva - but the drive is mostly along motorways - although once you reach the valleys if you are like me there are many attractions along the way for stop offs. Annecy and 20km lake Annecy are amazing places to visit - they even have their own lakeside beach. The lake is warm and the temperature stable whatever the weather.
If you get stuck for sport equipment or need anything for the car, there is an excellent retail park and complex at Albertville.
Thoroughly recommend chalet Aurelia and the area for an action packed summer trip.
