Relaxing, Rejuvenating, Comfortable, Amazing Getaway

  • 5 of 5

So much to write! Great directions to the purple mailbox. More of a private “country feel” than mountains. Very green. Should be colorful in the Fall. Felt very comfortable, like walking into the home of an old friend. Impressed with ongoing improvements and upgrades. Clean. Sheets. Towels. Robes!!! Lots of games! Grill. We enjoyed eating most meals outside. Lounging around was just great. So looking forward to returning especially in the winter to use the fireplace stove. Not a normal review-writer; however, this was such an awesome experience and great stress reliever for my wife and I. Most importantly, enabled us to reconnect with one another. Very grateful!

Cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently moved from Northern Virginia to upstate New York, but always had a fondness for the Shenandoah Valley. We would spend our summers hiking the scenic trails away from the craziness. We ended up back in VA for a few days due to work and decided to extend our stay. Pine Cone Cabin is located in a beautiful part of the national forest. It is your home away from home. The accommodations are comfortable, clean, quiet and the cabin offers everything you need to enjoy your stay. Patrick and Dale were lovely to deal with and we couldn't ask for much more. Thank you for making our stay very enjoyable and relaxing.

Peaceful getaway

  • 5 of 5

Patrick and Dale are the perfect hosts willing to share their piece of heaven. They have put lots of hard work and love into this cabin. There is so much to do in the area. Lots of history we went to the New Market Civil war museum, lots of thrift stores antiques and a few book stores. Bed was extremely comfortable. Any thing we could possibly need was provided. We went to local Food Lion and cooked several meals “at home”. Thanks ! Highly recommend!

We enjoyed our stay at Pine Cone Cabin very much. Met Patrick when we got there, he was mowing. Cabin has everything a person could possibly need for an enjoyable stay. Didn't get to meet Dale , but Patrick was a really nice person, and did everything to make our stay pleasant. Look forward to returning again. Tom and Dinah

Perfect, Relaxing Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I really enjoyed the cabin. I stayed in order to have a quiet, personal retreat, and to have access to the Skyline Drive and Shenandoah National Park. It was a truly beautiful place (and the drive in from the north through George Washington National Forest was stunning).

The cabin was cozy and comfortable. Patrick and Dale had it very well prepared when I arrived, and it had everything I needed.

Weekend stay for MMT100

  • 5 of 5

My husband and our two friends came to the area for the Massanutten Mountain Trails 100 Mile Run which my husband ran. This cabin was perfectly located and in a peaceful, quiet area with relatively easy access (by car) to many locations nearby. We arrived and everything in the cabin was perfect and ready for us - towels, cleans sheets on the beds, a manual with information about everything we may need, dishes, washer/dryer, etc. Patrick and Dale made it very easy to settle in and get ready for my husband's race, which is exactly what we needed. We reserved the cabin for two nights but ended up only sleeping there one (had to sleep in car on the trails the second night) but we used the cabin during the day for pit stops while we crewed my husband on the trail and it worked out perfectly. It was a lovely retreat and perfect set up for what we needed. Patrick and Dale were awesome during the arrangements of the cabin and had everything set up for an easygoing, relaxing stay. I would highly recommend this if you or anyone else is running next year's MMT100 or if you just want a lovely, quiet cabin. Wifi worked perfectly though cell service was definitely spotty as expected.

Patrick and Dale - thank you for being so accommodating and understanding when we came back late from the race on Sunday. We hope that you were able to have enough time to flip the cabin for your next guests, who will no doubt enjoy it as much as we did.

Owner's Response: Alison and her husband and friends were terrific Super Guests and we would welcome them back anytime for another stay. They followed all cabin rules and were neat and clean. If we did not have new guests coming the next day we certainly would have welcomed you to stay much longer. Please do come back again and relax away from the city and hike around the mountains. Alison thank you for the good communication and coordinating all that you did for this weekend for your Husband and your Friends you were terrific and I know they feel the same. We wish all four of you the very Best! Patrick and Dale
