As noted by other reviewers, this is not the cleanest of apartments. We also found most of the dishes and pots in the cupboards to be dirty and the whole place could use a thorough scrub down, with particular attention paid to the wall behind the toilet tank. The apartment is large and the directions for finding it were very easy to follow. The location is good if you don't want to be in the busy bustle of London. It's very close to the Shepherd's Bush underground and overground stations so we had no trouble getting where we wanted to, and quickly. The people who live in the apartment above are quite loud, especially when getting ready for work early in the morning and late into the evening, but when you're in a building of apartments you expect to hear noise.
The apartment was plenty big enough for three of us and everything worked, including a very nice washer/dryer unit that looked practically brand new. Having laundry detergent available was a nice touch. The directions to the flat and for getting the key were excellent and we had no problems. The location is fine, not super-close to anything, but good access to the underground, and a very nice neighborhood. Although this place was satisfactory on all the important points, we couldn't give 5 stars for several reasons. Most of the dishes in the cupboard were dirty and had to be washed before we could use them, one of the towels had long blond hairs embedded in it (definitely not ours), the extra towels we tracked down were damp and and had to be aired out, and we saw silverfish. The sheets and bedding were worn but appeared clean. As another reviewer noted it did smell musty but we expected that as it's a garden (i.e., underground) apartment.
I was traveling in London for the Rugby World Cup. It was a great stay in this apartment. Even it is small, it is enough for a family of four persons. It has also a little terrace outside, which is very nice. What was really impressive to this apartment was that everything was working (WiFi, tv channels, oven, hot water, heating etc.) and, most important, that they are very well kept. Related to the location, you are in the heart of London (zone 2 - close to Shepherd's Bush or Olympia underground stations - 5 minutes walking) and in a very good area (Kengsngton-Chelsea). Museums (Science Museum, V&A museum, NH Museum) are quit close. City center by underground in 15-20 minutes (Oxford Circus). Usually I don't bother to write reviews, but this apartment was great. If I will travel again in London and the apartment will be free, I will definitely try to stay here.
The property was in the right location and was spacious but was not very clean, the bathroom had a very musty smell and the floor covering was not properly laid, there was also a lot of black mold around the bath and in corners. The skirting boards were filthy and the whole place could do with re-decorating. I do have photo evidence if you would like
He runs a great little spot, speaks fluent english and french, and was super responsive to our schedule and needs. He met us at the place, was convenient with returning the deposit, and had great advice about where to go, what to see, and how to get there. The place was right across from the Metro station, near stores for groceries, and the kitchen was well stocked. Walking distance to St. Germain, Montparnasse, and the Jardin de Luxembourge. Basically everything was perfect and our 2 kids (8 and 12) slept well in the main bedroom, while we could close the door and have our own space. The futons were very comfortable and there were plenty of sheets, towels, and amenities. I highly recommend renting bikes to ride along the river at night. There was some construction noise around 9am midweek, but c'est la vie. There were also several restaurants right close by and the tiramisu across the straight was my kids favorite. Tres bien Alexis, merci.
We found the flat to be very comfortable, very clean, in a very pretty, quiet neighborhood. It was less than a ten minute walk to the underground and buses, with a market right by. The kitchen was easy to cook in and we slept very well on the futons, which were easy to pull out and put back in place. The owner is a pleasure to rent from.
The property is 10 minutes by bus from The Royal Albert Hall and The Museums of South Kensington.. a 5 minute walk from Holland Park. 5 minute walk to Westfield Shopping centre and Shepherds Bush Train and tube stations. Central London is 10 minutes by tube or bus. .
