Beautiful property in a stunning location

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay at Strathlorn. The house is very well equipped, comfortable and warm, and the views are amazing. It's wonderful to be so close to the water. Lismore is a lovely little island, the locals are so friendly and the Pierhouse bar and restaurant in Port Appin is superb - it's just a 10 minute stroll to the ferry from the house and a short hop across the water and you're delivered right in front of it. The owners of Strathlorn are friendly and helpful too, great communication and told us everything we needed. We hope to be back as soon as possible!

Lovely relaxed home in beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 5, including 3 teenage girls and a dog. We had a very relaxing time watching wildlife from the balcony and walking to remote places on the island. The cottage has everything you could need and is very well appointed.

We bought most of our food from the Lismore post office shop and from some of the crofters. Port Appin, which is a short and fun ferry ride form the cottage has a lovely pub/restaurant.

We can thoroughly recommend Strathlorn for a beautiful, peaceful holiday.

Stunning location and excellent house

  • 5 of 5

My 2 sisters, niece and I had a fantastic week at Strathlorn. The house is in a stunning location with excellent facilities, well maintained and the owners have provided everything you need when living there. Sitting in the living room/dining room you feel as though the loch is an extension of the room and it draws your eyes to the wildlife and boats that pass along the shoreline. We loved the whole experience of life on a small, friendly island. We went across to Port Appin and Oban As foot passengers and also to Oban and other areas on the Loch Striven car ferry. We visited the places of interest on Lismore too and our week certainly wasn't enough. We didn't want to leave Strathlorn and feel like we've left a part of our hearts

there. We will definitely return.

A little piece of paradise

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful waterfront cottage couldn't be in a better position for stunning highland views; the loch, mountains, the ever-changing sky lightshows and incredible rainbows.

You are also treated to watching birds dart into the loch to catch their lunch, otters playing on the shoreline and I believe a seal or two have been spotted near the shoreline.

The cottage itself has been beautifully renovated to make the most of the scenery. Glass doors make up a large percentage of the wall space and the decking is also surrounded by toughened glass allowing uninterrupted views across the loch.

We had the most wonderful time, both in the cottage and exploring Oban, Glen Coe and Glen Nevis.

Thanks to Marilyn and John for their helpful correspondence prior to the holiday. We will definitely return soon.

Perfect for a tranquil getaway with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

This is a VERY special holiday location with stunning views that constantly change with the weather. We parked (for free) in Port Appin, had a meal at the Pierhouse and caught the little passenger ferry to the island (cheap and frequent). Ladened down with wheelie cases full of food, beer and waterproofs, we found it a surprisingly way/short walk to the cottage.

The new refurbishment and layout gives stunning views from large windows in kitchen diner lounge and one bedroom. There was plenty of space for our family of five adults. Three bedrooms and three bathrooms mean it would work for groups of friends too. Well equipped kitchen. Warm heating. Fast wifi. Maps, info, books and games.

Walk straight off the glassed-in deck onto the beach to collect shells. interesting walks over the north of island (didn't head further south). A few miles (each way) to heritage centre for lunch. Lismore is peaceful, pretty and people are super friendly. There is one shop.

House caretaker, Andy, is friendly and helpful.

Easy to get back to mainland for a day out but once settled in, we cancelled all such plans and enjoyed a slower pace of life.
