Welcoming home in good location

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The owner provided food and wine was very appreciated and helped our week get off to a good start. My extended family was in town for the week around Christmas and the house was decorated and therefore much more festive than anticipated. The location was convenient - we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. While it was too cold to hang out outside, the small backyard overlooking the river looked pleasant. Booking the property was straightforward and communication with the owner was east. We would certainly recommend this place to family and friends.

Excellent homely house in a good location

  • 5 of 5

This was the second time we have used this house for our family visit to York, and its perfect for us. It's very well presented, scrupulously clean, and full of little touches by the owner which makes it a very enjoyable stay. We found the ingredients for a good breakfast in the fridge - milk, bread, eggs, jams and butter, plus there was a good supply of tea, coffee and sugar.

The bedrooms are not huge, but they're perfectly adequate and certainly comfortable. The owners supply lovely soft towels and plenty of toiletries. For the price charged we feel they go "above and beyond".

For anyone who doesn't know York the location is very good. It's just a few minutes away from the Castle museum and Clifford's Tower, and it's just a five minute walk up to the Pavement, where you find the main shops and The Shambles. A few minutes further on you can reach The Minster, Stonegate, Betty's etc. Don't leave York without a visit to Betty's for morning coffee or afternoon tea - it's a memorable experience.

We would highly recommend this little house for any other families wanting an inexpensive place to stay in York.

Nice place to stay in York

  • 4 of 5

We liked this cozy townhouse walking distance to all the main attractions in York. It's nicely redone with well equipped kitchen. The owners even left wine and few essentials which was a much appreciated added bonus. I think it was the cleanest place we stayed in our recent travels, wish she would come clean my house. Nice glass doors to small backyard and parking right out front 2 steps from the front door. The beds were a little too firm for our tastes, but everyones different, liked the Audrey Hepburn bedroom. An added bonus, it's almost right next to Novotel so we could run in and get questions answered etc. Traffic can be challenging in and around York so do walk when possible. We enjoyed a day trip out to Howard Castle and the World Birds of Prey Center, highly recommend those. Would be happy to stay here again.

Fabulous Stay in York

  • 5 of 5

Great setup and location. Our family of 5 enjoyed staying here and would again. We were welcomed with some snacks and wine and very clean flat. Easy walking to anywhere in York, quiet, and all the amenities to make a great stay, The owners are easy to communicate with about any questions.

Lovely property! Well decorated & immaculately clean. Wine & essential food items a welcoming surprise. Pleasant 15min stroll along the river to city centre. In nice & quiet residential street. Highly recommend staying here & would do so again if visiting with friends or young family.

York is a beautiful ancient walled city dating from Roman times with many historical sites. The city is home to some excellent museums including the National Railway Museum which now houses the world famous Flying Scotsman. This train now runs between York and Scarborough on the Yorkshire coast during the summer months.

York has many visitor attractions (too many to list here), including two world famous attractions, 13th century York MInster is the largest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe and the Jorvic Viking Centre where you are transported underground in Time Cars to explore the sights, sounds (and smells!) of the Viking city of Jorvic.

The city holds many festivals throughout the year including the Jorvic Viking Festival every February and there is always something going on to entertain, amuse and delight the visitor. York also boasts many fine shops, restaurants and theatres, and claims to have more pubs than there are days in the year.
