Two Night Stay at Riversmead

  • 5 of 5

There were five of us in our travel group and we were quite comfortable in Riversmead. Jayne and Keith provided a nice welcome basket of wine and chocolates. Having a reserved parking space at Riversmead is a definite bonus. Walking to town center of York is just a few minutes away through Fishergate. The Shambles of York are fantastic with hidden slips, closes, yards and alleyways with plenty of shops, cafes, bakeries, pubs and restaurants. We walked sections of the Town Wall and had beautiful views of York Minster and lovely gardens. We learned about the rivers Ouse and Foss and the wonderful waterfowl that reside there. Many ghost stories such as Lady Peckett and Dick Turpin were very interesting, as were the stories of Priests' Holes. We had a scone competition between Betty's Fat Rascal and Hadley's Minster Monster and I personally declare Hadley's Minster Monster the winner. The Minster Monster was more moist and also 25 pence cheaper. Lucky Days Café was an excellent stop for tea, scones and cakes. There were several grocery stores to select from that were within walking distance. The outside patio area at Riversmead offers a secluded respite overlooking the River Foss. We had a fantastic and memorable time at Riversmead and our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. Thanks Jayne and Keith for your wonderfully accommodating property, Riversmead. Perfect get away

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful home from home. Everything is done for your comfort, and it's all the little extras that mean so much, the welcome pack, wow!, the chocolates on the beds, even the lovely fresh smell as you walked through the door. It's just a short walk from the city centre, on the flat so no steep hills and the fact that an adjacent parking space is available is worth its weight in gold. There is a convenience store just around the corner. The house is emmaculate and being able to sit in the garden and watch the river flow by was so relaxing. I want to thank the owners for a wonderful stay. We will be back.

Small and beautiful

  • 5 of 5

This is a small modern three bedroom house overlooking the Foss, in a quiet cul-de-sac, with its own parking space. It is an ideal base for a family or group of friends attending a conference at the Barbican Centre (3 minutes away) or just wanting to explore the city.

The house was spotlessly clean, with modern fitments, a good sized kitchen and very comfortable sofas. Jayne and Keith had left us cereals, bread, milk, eggs as well as two bottles of wine and chocolates - a very welcoming touch.

Some other conference attendees popped in and took away details of the properties as they were so impressed. Will definitely book here again if we come to another conference.

Perfect location with just a five minute walk in to York, yet on a nice, quiet residential street.

  • 5 of 5

The house worked really well for our family of four. There were plenty of seats in the lounge area and at the dining table, for us all to relax. The kitchen was a good size, the only thing I would say is that it would have been handy to have another cupboard left empty for our food. There was only one small one that we had to fit everything in.

The bedrooms worked well and were comfy and the bathroom shower was lovely. The welcome pack of food, wine and bathroom bits was a really nice surprise.

Attractive comfortable house in a good location

  • 5 of 5

My family of five, all adults, stayed here for the weekend and we were really impressed by the quality and comfort of this house and the efficiency of the owners. We would definitely book it again It's in a good location, about a ten minute easy walk from the centre of York. The beds and linens were excellent, and we had a very good bathroom with shower.

Our arrival was quick and easy with the key in a locked coded box and a car park permit which allowed us to park right outside.

The owners provided a fridgeful of food, plenty for breakfast the next day, and there were chocolate snowmen and bottles of wine to greet our arrival. Very welcome after a six hour drive.

NB: As someone who once lived in York 50 years ago (!) I deliberately chose not to stay near the Minster because I'm aware the noise of all the bells, both from the Minster and its nearby churches, can start very early in the morning. Beautiful, but annoying.

A beautiful place in an incredible location

  • 5 of 5

The house is very comfortable, perfect for five people. Very well equiped with all what we needed.

The rooms are warm and well decorated, inmaculated clean, with comfortable beds. Spacious bathroom with abundant hot water.

Full equiped kitchen, milk, bread, butter, jam in refrigerator. Lovely welcome details, such chocolates and wine. Excelent customer service.

Excellent located, minutes far for the center of the town walking along the river.

We don't hesitate recommend this property to a friend. We hope to back again!

York is a beautiful ancient walled city dating from Roman times with many historical sites. The city is home to some excellent museums including the National Railway Museum which now houses the world famous Flying Scotsman. This train now runs between York and Scarborough on the Yorkshire coast during the summer months.

York has many visitor attractions (too many to list here), including two world famous attractions, 13th century York MInster is the largest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe and the Jorvic Viking Centre where you are transported underground in Time Cars to explore the sights, sounds (and smells!) of the Viking city of Jorvic.

The city holds many festivals throughout the year including the Jorvic Viking Festival every February and there is always something going on to entertain, amuse and delight the visitor. York also boasts many fine shops, restaurants and theatres, and claims to have more pubs than there are days in the year.
