About Sheila Cross
Born and raised in WI, have lived in Colleyville TX for 24 years. This is a summer home that we have decided to vacation rent as a result of having lose my husband in 2014, and recently having lost my 20 year old son shortly before my youngest son was diagnosed with a rare Brain Cancer. We have been thru unfathomable hardship these last 3 years. The revenue from these rentals will allow us to keep the home for years to come.
Sheila Cross purchased this House in 1997

Family vacation July 2019
Our family had a great time overall. The adult children and oldest grandchild really enjoyed the kayaks and paddle board, while the littles had a great time playing in the sand. Close to attractions, so we made excursions to CircusWorld Museum, Ochschner Park and Zoo, and Devil’s Lake for a day of swimming. Our several rides on the ferry - a mainstay of my summers as a child - were definitely a highlight for some, especially when there was time for ice cream.
There were a few items we weren’t completely satisfied with - the “King” bed in the room with the bunk bed was just two twin beds made up separately and pushed together, which was a bit of a disappointment. Also, the graphic of bedroom #2 showed 2 queen beds, but there was only one. My fault for not reading the description carefully, but it made for some last-minute logistic challenges.
There were also a few items in need of repair - e.g., outlet covers missing, loose tiles on the tub surround, and several broken lawn chairs. These were concerns particularly because of the several small children in our group. However, the many amenities outweighed the few issues we had.
The two upstairs bedrooms were lovely and airy, with lots of light. The week we were there was hot and humid, so the lower level felt a little stuffy, but we were able to move fans around to make sleeping tolerable.
We aren’t planning another such family vacation until 2021, but if the property is still available (it is currently up for sale), we would certainly consider it.
Family Gathering 2019
We had a great time at Sheila's home. The home was well appointed and had everything we needed for a wonderful week. Sheila was responsive to texts and answered promptly. Plenty of room for our group of 8. Nice pier which we were able to tie our boat to. Great lawn area to enjoy outdoor activities.
Quilting Family Retreat
The garbage disposal didn’t work. The goose droppings on the dock were understandable.
We had the best time in this home. It was beautifully decorated, big house, every little detail the owner thought of. I would highly recommend this home, location is perfect.
Lovely relaxing family spot
This home was lovely!!! The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was great, the hearth room was warm and inviting and the "kids room" was perfect for the grand kids and our gown ups time together hanging out on the porch, or by the fire was awesome.
The lake does have quite a bit of algae and Lillie pads on the shore, so no swimming. We brought our boat though, and enjoyed the rest of the lake. Bring a rake to loosen the sand for the kids to play in.
Other than that, we'd go back to this place in a heartbeat. #hellolovelyvacationhome
Fantabulous Family Fun!
We thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family in this beautiful lake house. The perfect spot for a family reunion! Hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, floating, sand castles, riding the ferry and making family meals. There was something for everyone right outside our door. Thank you!!
35-45 min from House on the rock, cave of the mounds and Frank Lloyd Wright Museum. 45 minutes from WI Dells, 5 minutes from Merrimac Ferry to Devil's Lake State Park and Devil's Head Ski Resort. Several great boat up restaurants on lake, all a short drive from home. Sunset and Fishtales Bar/Restaurant 1/2 mile walk from home. 2 mile walk to Gibralter Rock, many biking and hiking trails in immediate area including the ice age trail. View a rare live bog from atop Gibralter Rock, in fall it turns crimson (very rare experience)
