Beautiful, spacious 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment with separate WC, providing comfortable and modern accommodation for up to 4 people in the heart of Edinburgh's historic Old Town.

The apartment is equipped with modern furnishings and fittings within a building of great character. The apartment is accessed through a secure common entrance into a private lobby. The apartment is on the first floor of the building and the accommodation is situated over 2 floors - the open plan living room and kitchen, with a toilet and wash hand basin situated off, are on the lower floor, and the double bedroom and en suite (shower, wash hand basin and toilet) are located on the upper floor accessed by a narrow staircase. The living area had a double sofa bed and dining table, chairs and sofas to seat 4. The bedroom provides ample drawers and hanging space.

A very comfortable apartment in a great location

Heather's apartment is very light and bright and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It was spotlessly clean, and well presented; everything worked, the bed was comfortable and we slept well. Although in a building converted into many flats, the configuration of Heather's meant that there was no noise from other tenants, other than occasional footsteps on the communal stairs. There was no street noise to disturb us as the apartment is on a relatively quiet side street away from the much busier South Bridge. Heather-was there to meet us and to show us around and answer questions; the shortbread welcome pack was a nice touch. The apartment is very well located with easy access to Waverley Station on foot or by bus and to the airport, by bus or tram. The Royal Mile is less than 10 minutes on foot, Princes Street about 15 minutes. The bustling Grassmarket and delightful Victoria Street are also just a short walk away. There are two supermarkets within 5 minutes walk and any number of restaurants and coffee shops. But go no further than Ciao Roma/Hispaniola on the corner of the street - delicious Italian cooking and a very warm and friendly staff. We've stayed in Edinburgh several times so are familiar with the main sights but the star attraction this week was the Royal Yacht Britannia, just jump on the No 35 bus on South Bridge to go straight there. An amazing week and Heather's apartment will be the first one we'll try and book for our next visit.

Neat and clean and very functional, great location

Overall very good. The stairs up to the bedroom are narrow but manageable. Generally fairly quiet at night even though this is close to a busy thoroughfare of Edinburgh. Everything worked well and we enjoyed the stay. Our hostess was there to meet us and made it easy to check in.

Good location, lots of space, well equipped

The apartment had all the amenities, a well equipped kitchen, space to relax, good utilities including a bathroom heater, plenty of hanging and drawer space for clothing, a washer, plenty of electrical outlets, basic good staples, plus a welcome package of shortbread from Heather! Would definitely stay here again, and it has space for more than two.

Ideal!

Heather's place is the perfect location for checking out Edinburgh. The apartment itself was clean, well supplied, and the two floor set-up is nice for alone time when needed. A plus was the small sink and toilet downstairs.

The apartment is situated in a newly refurbished 19th Century Schoolhouse on Drummond Street, located in the popular Old Town which has a variety of cafes, bars and restaurants.

This is an ideal position for the Festival Theatre, the National Museum of Scotland, the Pleasance and numerous Festival and 'Fringe' venues.

Waverley train station and the Royal Mile, with Edinburgh Castle at the top and Holyrood Palace at the bottom are also within a 10 minute walk, along with the famous Greyfriars Bobby and the Grassmarket.

Various Art Galleries, Arthur's Seat, Princes Street and the Royal Commonwealth Pool are also within easy walking distance.

For rugby international weekends, buses (nos. 48 and 31) can be taken from North Bridge, just a few minutes walk from the apartment, directly to Murrayfield Stadium.

Transport links are excellent, with the apartment close to several main bus routes which access most areas of the city and beyond. Waverley Train Station which links you to the rest of Scotland is a short walk. Train journey times to Glasgow, host of the 2014 Commonwealth Games are approximately 55 minutes and depart every half hour. The city bypass and motorway networks can be accessed easily by car.
