Overview

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday villa in Axarquia (Costa del Sol) - La Casita de Las Colinas

Lovely 2 bed semi detached traditional house and private pool.

Tucked away down a winding lane 25 minutes walk or a 5 minute drive from the pretty village of Canillas de Aceituno with wonderful views from the pool and patio over Lake Vinuela, La Casita offers spacious accommodation and marvellous seclusion.

The interiors are light and airy with beamed ceilings and traditional features such as a log burner as well as a modern kitchen.

There are 2 spacious bedrooms , one double and one family room with 2 4 foot beds. This room can sleep 4.

Outside there is a lovely covered terrace and BBQ area which incorporates an indoor/outdoor kitchen. Next to this is the fabulous pool and terrace and seating area where you can enjoy the views up to La Maroma and across the valley to Comares, the highest village in the area, and Lake Vinuela which changes colour with the seasons. The sunsets viewed from the outside terrace are magnificent.

Suitability:
  • children welcome

Fantastic getaway

  • 5 of 5

Highly recommended. Firstly, the location is stunning. Perched on the mountainside, the views down into the valley and up into the mountains are second to none, and whilst there is a house next door, it retains a feeling of seclusion. The pool has almost an 'infinity' feeling as the land drops steeply away. The outside area is spacious and great for relaxing in the sun (or shade). An earlier comment about noisy dogs next door did not reflect our experience. The next-door neighbour was very friendly and helpful -her dogs were fine (im no dog lover either) and they were no cause of disturbance. The local village (20 mins walk, <5 mins drive) is picturesque and has a few options for eating or drinking out, whilst the house itself is well equipped for cooking or bbq. The owner, Linda, was incredibly friendly and helpful with quick responses to any questions. We were very glad to have chosen this place and would happily return if we have an opportunity.

Terrific Holiday - a great break

  • 5 of 5

What a great place! We wanted to escape August Bank holiday and at the end of the week we didn't want to leave, ever! A great location with stunning views, beautiful sunsets and starry nights! The villa is close to the local village for restaurants, shops etc but is set in such tranquil surroundings. It has everything you could need and Heather next door can help with any problems - terrific, we will be there again, soon.

Peace and tranquility

  • 5 of 5

Eagles seen above the casa on day one . Star filled skies at night and good food at 3 restaurants in the local village of Canillas.

Facilities excellent and villa well equipped with everything you need. You couldn't ask for anything better.

Heather next door is amazing and will help out in any way. She is an absolute Gem. It's a home from home and would most definitely return again and again. This was our second visit in 12 month's almost to the day. A perfect location to laze away the day's by the pool, visit the beach and enjoy the ambience of the local 'White villages'.

....And relax...

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely place to unwind and relax. The location of this villa was perfect for us, close to a village and only a short drive to Torre Del Mar and the beach. The Casita has everything you need and is so comfortable and well thought out, it has everything you will need, down to salt and pepper! The pool is just fab, we were in it nearly every day. The views of the surrounding area and mountains are just the icing on the cake! We ended up spending the majority of our days just lazing by the pool, watching the changing colours of the mountains and the occasional shepherd with his goats wandering around there. Heather next door is a diamond, always on hand and nothing was ever too much trouble for her. We ate out at La Maroma restaurant in the village which is a must if you like good size portions and good food. We really enjoyed the huge steak and the relaxed atmosphere. We were made extreemly welcome by the owner and his family/staff. I would happily recommend this little gem to anyone who loves a quiet relaxing holiday in a beautiful villa that is in a wonderful location. We will definitely be back next year!

Spectacular holiday that ticks all the boxes !!

  • 5 of 5

This holiday ticked all our boxes. The villa is in a perfect location away from it all in 'real Spain' and only a few minutes away from the beautiful village with lovely resteraunts and bars. The welcome you get in the village is genuine and heartwarming. The beach and lovely town of Torres Del Mar is approx fifteen minutes away and the gorgeous Nerja a bit further .Back to the villa , the views from the villa are just spectacular you cannot help but feel relaxed as you wake up to the beatiful vista, just amazing. The villa is extremely well equipped and immaculately clean. The large pool and outdoor area take advantage of the wonderful 360 panoramic views with no obstructions. If you want a holiday that offers the choice of tranquil relaxing villa with a typical Spanish village on your doorstep with easy access to beaches then look no further . Can't wait to go again.

Andalusian idyll

  • 5 of 5

The Casita is a real gem hidden away down a country lane but only 5 minutes by car from the village of Canillas de Aceituno. The views by day from the terrace across the valley towards Lake Vinuela are quite spectacular. By night the twinkling lights of the hilltop villages just add to the atmosphere. The house itself was spotless and well-maintained, with everything we needed to make our stay most comfortable. The pool was a bonus which, I'm sure, would be most welcome come the heat of July and August. Heather, the lady next door, was always very helpful if we wanted any advice. We have already recommended the Casita to friends and we are, ourselves, planning to return in the near future.

The restaurants in the village are excellent value, with good, local, food, and most welcoming and friendly staff.

The Casita is the perfect base for visiting not only the beautiful Andalusian villages of the region but also, a little further afield, the beautiful palace of The Alhambra in Granada.

We stayed a week in the Casita, and wished it could have been longer! If you are looking for a completely relaxing holiday we could not recommend the Casita highly enough. For us it was simply perfect.

Canillas De Aceituno is located in the Nature Reserve of 'Sierra Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama'.

It sits high on the slopes of La Maroma, the highest of the mountain range and hence offers spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.

It offers countless possibilities for activities such as trekking hiking, canoeing, speleology etc.

As usual in Andalusia, the village has many fiestas(holidays) as well as a Carnival, which is held in February,Canillas de Aceituno has its unique fiestas.

One such is held on the last Sunday in April to honour the patron saint ' La Virgen de la Cabeza'. This day is also known as, Dia de La Morcilla, when free beer wine and morcilla(black pudding) is served.

In August there is the main 4 days fiesta. Finally around the 7th or 8th September we have 'Candelaria' (Bonfire night).

The Moorish white washed village is a maze of cobbled lanes lined with orange trees and dotted with bars, restaurants and local stores offering fine local produce. There is a bank with ATM,a pharmacy and municipal pool with bar/restaurant at the end of the village.

The village is over 1000 years old and evidence of its ancient past can be seen at the House of the Moorish Queen in the square by the Town Hall and also the Arab well located in a building just outside the village passed The Bodega restaurant.
