This superb holiday home, called 'Braemar' with kitchen, dining room, lounge, family bathroom and three bedrooms (master bedroom with en suite) overlooks Oban bay and sits a few hundred meters above Oban's town centre. The harbour below 'Braemar' has many unique Scottish style restaurants, bars, pubs and shops. The famous Oban whisky distillery can be accessed quickly from the house via Jacob's ladder and above the house lies the magnificent landmark and folly 'McCaig's Tower' (built between 1897 and 1902). A short walk from the house is Atlants Leisure, which offers swimming and fitness facilities as well as a climbing wall, cafe and a children's soft play. Recently the Oban cinema has been fully refurbished, only 400m from the house this unique community run small screen makes movie going feel like going to the theater.

From every window 'Braemar' offers breathtaking and ever changing views over Oban Bay and the islands beyond. Guests can enjoy the long Scottish summer nights and its beautiful sunsets from the newly build viewing platform above the house in the rear garden.

'Braemar' has been brought onto the holiday letting market after substantial refurbishment and 2014 is its first year for holiday letting.

The white rendered property is a traditional 1920s style house with double bay windows. Access through a traditional front porch with partly glazed oak front door leads onto the hallway. To the right of the entrance we have the lounge with its large and comfortable corner sofa, fire place and TV set with DVD Player. To the left of the entrance is the dining room with extending dining table with seating for up to eight people, gas fire place and sofa bed. A door leads into the kitchen, which comprises of an array of storage with dishes and all necessary utensils, a washing machine, hob, oven and fridge freezer. The back door to the rear of the house leads into the fenced garden next to the house.

The three bedrooms are located on the first floor. The Master Bedroom has its own en suite bathroom with large shower, sink and WC. Two chests of drawers and a walk in wardrobe offer plenty of storage and from the double bed one can enjoy the beautiful views across Oban Bay and the sea.

The second bedroom has its own sink, wardrobe and chest of drawers as well as a double bed.

The third bedroom lies in between the other two and has a single bed and a chest of drawers for storage.

The property has two gardens - one on ground floor level, secured with railings and gates making it a safe place for families with small children and the second one with large viewing platform above roof level - accessed through stairs to the back of the house. This newly built viewing platform is the ideal place to make the best of the long Scottish summer evenings with a glass of wine and enjoy the magnificent views over Oban and beyond.

All in all - This property is the perfect family retreat for those that do not want to get into a car on a daily basis, but who enjoy the convenience of being in a town and close to local amenities - without compromising on the holiday feel with stunning sea views.

One of the most enjoyable days that we spent at 'Braemar' involved having breakfast on the viewing platform, walking down to the harbour and catching the small boat across to the island of Kerrera. We explored the island and its heritage and then had lunch at the lovely small timber restaurant looking back over the bay towards Oban and 'Braemar'. After an afternoon trip to Dunollie House and Castle we rounded the day off with a glass of wine and a BBQ on the viewing platform watching the Western sun setting over Mull.

There are always plenty of things to See and Do in this pretty seaside town of Oban - no matter what time of year you visit. You can enjoy the local attractions such as the distillery, McCaig's Tower, the Seal Sanctuary in Barcaldine or the Bridge over the Atlantic and Easdale Island; and if you are looking to explore your adventurous side why not try a spot of diving, kayaking, sailing, horse riding or consternating.

As 'Gateway to the isles' there are ferries to a variety of different Islands - such as Mull, Iona, Jura and Staffa to name but a few and the buses and train that go on a regular basis from the town centre let you explore Glasgow, Fort William and all that's in between for days out.
