Overview

Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday home in Ventoux - Carpentras area

A large house down an imposing driveway and set back from a country lane in 4 acres of well maintained and private gardens with a heated pool.

The house was renovated entirely by the new owners with 2 new bathrooms, there are 5 bedrooms, and it sleeps 10 people comfortably. The bedrooms are all well presented and have air-conditioning.

The 13 metre pool is alarmed, has it's own fountain and is and at the far end of the garden, with a pool umbrella and sun loungers. There is an outside dining table near the house and kitchen and also a new barbecue. The garden and pool are well lit for night-time swimming/dining.

The kitchen itself is well stocked with dishwasher, copper pans and vintage crockery. Next to the kitchen there is a dining area with a table that seats 10. There is an i-pod speaker system and office area.

A washing machine and downstairs cloakroom are also on the ground floor, adjacent to a fantastic double-height sitting room with 3 large sofas, dvd player and television.

The first floor has 3 bedrooms comprised of 2 doubles, 1 twin and a bathroom with separate shower.

The second floor has a large double bedroom and a single room ideal for children with a bathroom off it.

The 2 local bars/restaurants can be walked to in about 20 minutes although there are a couple of bikes at the house, and the boulangerie in the village is next to the bar.

In 15 minutes you can be in Avignon, L'isle sur la Sorgue or Pernes les Fontaines where there is a multitude of choice for eating and drinking. Or, the local produce markets are even closer.

We loved our time here

  • 5 of 5

My family and I loved our stay at this house. A home from home and very comfortable. From 70 year old parents to 5 year old children everyone enjoyed our trip. The house is as beautiful as the photos suggest and the gardens are a delight.

You need a car if you as staying here and there is so much to do in the area. Lactose, Orange and Isle Sur La Sorgue are beautiful and interesting

This region is my favourite part of France.

We would very much like to go again.

a perfect place!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful relaxing week at this beautiful house. The house has everything you could possible need, and it is spacious and beautifully furnished, and has a very welcoming feeling about it. We had to drag ourselves away from the house and pool to do the minimum obligatory sight-seeing. There is plenty of choice for shopping and tasty eating in the nearby towns. We highly recommend it.

Fabulous family villa

  • 5 of 5

We spend two weeks at the villa and enjoyed the most wonderful holiday. The house is very well equipped and the garden and pool and absolutely wonderful - we literally did not leave the house for the entire two weeks as we had such a relaxing time at the house.

Highly recommended.

An idyllic family retreat in Provence

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful house in a stunning location with everything you could possibly want for a great family holiday. Peaceful, with a wonderfully heated pool, yet close to lovely towns with fine restaurants such as Isle sur la Sorgue, Pernes and Avignon is 15 minutes away. We cycled to the bakery in the morning and sometimes walked across the fields to the local bar. What a great place to get away from it all, completely relax and forget the rest of the world. The air conditioned rooms meant we could sleep at night and the pool kept us cool during the day. The garden was beautifully maintained. We have a 6 year old and some grown up children and they all absolutely loved it. I would most definitely recommend this fab location.

Paradise in Provence!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week in September, along with our two very young children & had a wonderful time. The house is spacious & welcoming & fully equipped with everything you would be likely to need for a week or two away (even having some children's playthings which was an added bonus).

The location is great, with many interesting towns & villages within easy reach & a good bakery in the local village. We certainly had more than enough to keep us occupied in the time we were there. The pool is large & really warm so the children loved it. Although it is not fenced it does have an alarm & is a fair distance from the property so we were happy to let the children roam around in the sizeable garden while keeping them away from the pool area.

One tip; if you have a large car don't even think of taking it in to Les Halles carpark in Avignon (recommended in the house book) - you will be lucky to escape the experience unscathed!

Overall, a great holiday rental!

Dream Come True

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 8 (6 adults and two teenagers) just had the most wonderful relaxing week at this beautiful country home. Coming down the private driveway lined with trees past the iron gates the property was like a dream come true. This country home is serene and gorgeous and was more than we had hoped for.

We were greeted by the charming and sweet housekeeper with a large magnum bottle of french rose which evaporated quickly after our long trip from Paris on the TGV train. What a special touch that was!

The home is spacious and has endless old world charm. It was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. There is a large sitting room (which was great for our two teenage daughters to escape from the grownups), smaller alcoves to hide out in, a spacious indoor dining area, an indoor work area to plan your next outing ( wi-fi was no problem at all) and a perfect outdoor stone dining table at which we ate all our alfresco meals. The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms were lovely with high quality updated fixtures. The kitchen is charming, spacious and well equipped. We did not eat out as we made most of our meals. There was even a barbecue which we used at least three times.

The pool was beautiful and refreshing and we used it daily after a long hot day of sightseeing in the wonderful small towns in the area.

The house is very central to all the places that you might want to make day trips to.

Pernes-les-Fontaines was literally <10 minutes from the house by car. We went there for most of our shopping. There was a nice store only 3 minutes in the small town of Les Valayans.

We went to Avignon (25min ), Orange (35min ), I'lsle-sur-la-Sorges (20 min), Pernes-les Fountaines(7 min ) Chateauneuf du Pape and more. The hill towns are far closer than they look on the map.

A more ambitious group could get a lot more in than we did!

It was easy getting around, but we loved being at the house so much that we raced back early every day to sit by the pool and read.

In closing, this is a heavenly spot to enjoy and I highly recommend it to anyone who wishes to experience Provence from a serene and pastoral home base!

The 'fruit basket' of France, the area is well known for it's fantastic produce markets, held several times a week. There are masses of restaurants just 15 minutes away in beautiful provencal villages and the larger L'isle sur la Sorgue is a well known antiques centre which has a weekly market. Avignon, again 15 minutes away has a theatre festival during the summer and is always a bustling city with the Palais du Papes at its centre. The Pont du Gard in Nimes is well worth a journey and is about 40 minutes away. There is a Blues Festival held 5 minutes walk away and each village has it's own festival at some time during the summer. Pernes les Fontaines is just 10 minutes away with its 40 fountains, Arles and the Camarague 1 hours drive. The Luberon is 30 minutes drive and is a beautiful wooded countryside with picturesque hilltop villages and vineyards. For those looking to leave the gardens and pool at the house there is rafting, horse riding, cycling, golf, caving and almost everything in between.
