|Minimum Stay||4 - 7 nights|
The apartment is located in the picturesque and sunny village of Saas at the edge of the Klosters-Davos ski area. Saas is a traditional Swiss village comprising charmingly decorated wooden chalets, a beautiful church and is in a stunning location in the Praettigau valley in the Swiss Alps.
The house contains six apartments and is set in a quiet
area. The large private terrace and garden make it particularly ideal for children. A children's playground and small free ice skating rink are located 70 metres away. The village shop and restaurant, bar and guest house (Guasthaus Rathaus) are located 40 metres away.
The apartment is decorated in modern Alpine theme comprising oak floors, carved wooden furniture, art work and luxurious soft furnishings. There is a large comfortable lounge with open fire place and extensive views of the Gotschna and surrounding mountain ranges. With two comfortable bedrooms, a bathroom, and separate toilet and a fully equipped open plan kitchen living room and a sunny terrace, the apartment is a relaxing haven after a day on the slopes or a day exploring the local walking or biking trails. The house also has a shared ski room, laundry room and ample parking including lockable garage.
The cable cars of Gotschna and Madrisa are easily reached by local bus (bus stop is a two minute walk away), train (Klosters is the next stop) or car within minutes. The 8 km Madrisa sledge run ends 200m from the house. Visitors to the chalet are able to secure a 10% discount at the Saas Ski School.
Things to do in and around the area: Klosters is 7 Km away and has become world famous over the years - renowned for its ski and snowboard venue par excellence and as the favourite winter resort of royalty. Klosters shares much of its skiing area with neighbouring Davos and the ski pass grants you access to 320km of pistes, 55 lifts and 20 or more mountain restaurants. The resort also boasts one of the longest continuous pistes in Europe - over 12km long and which runs past Saas village. There are also 105km of prepared cross-country trails as well as numerous opportunities for off-piste and ski-touring.
For the non-skiing winter visitor, there is almost an endless variety of other interests to pursue, including three giant sledge runs, 45km of winter walking trails, ice hockey, skating, curling and horse-drawn sleighs.
In summer, the Swiss Alps transform themselves into breathtakingly beautiful mountain meadows echoing to the sound of cow bells. The cable cars and mountain railways that served the skiers so well in the winter now transport hikers and sun worshippers alike to the numerous peaks that surround Saas. Golfers will revel in Klosters' 9 hole golf course. If this is not enough, head over to Davos for a full 18 hole championship course.
Other summer activities in and around the Saas area include horse riding, mountain biking, downhill cycling, fishing, water sports, indoor/outdoor tennis, mini-golf, swimming, summer tobogganing at Schatzalp, rollerblading, rock climbing and mountain railways. There are outdoor swimming facilities (Lidos) in Klosters featuring diving boards, climbing walls, slides and toddler areas. The highest lido in Europe is in nearby Pany. The first adventure park at Madrisa is now open during the summer months delighting young and old alike.
Mountain biking enthusiasts will not be disappointed, the local area offers a spectacular experience for all skill levels. There is a 10,000 elevation free ride tour which takes advantage of five cable railways to get to the top of mountains.
Saas is also a great base for exploring other alpine resorts such as St.Moritz, Lenzerheide, Flims and Arosa.
This apartment is well situated for access by train to the Davos/Klosters ski area. We had a wonderful time, the place is well equipped and provided a very comfortable stay for a great ski-ing trip.
Owners are very responsive to any questions and could´t be more helpful. Once again thank you for making your property available to us, look forward to visiting again next year.
