Beautiful Venetian Retreat in the Heart of Dorsoduro very close to Accademia

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,184 sq. ft.
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

2 Bedroom apartment with free WiFi in the heart of Dorsoduro

Perfectly situated between the Salute and the Accademia, Ca Venetia has undergone a complete renovation turning this traditional Venetian building into a beautiful modern retreat. It has two spacious bedrooms, a sitting room and a kitchen with dining area. Set on the first floor, access is gained through a shared hallway and stair case.

On arrival, the apartment is easy to reach. From Marco Polo Airport, the Alilaguna Blue Line will take you to Zattere, which is a very short walk from the front door. If you arrive at the Piazzale Roma or the railway station, it is very simple to take a Vaporetto to Accademia, which is also a very short walk from the apartment.

San Marco, Rialto and all of the major sites in Venice are within easy walking distance. Dorsoduro itself is a very lovely area - full of interesting shops and atmospheric squares, it is less crowded than the very busy centre and is quiet at night. However, a ten-minute walk from the apartment gets you to Campo San Barnaba or Campo Santa Margherita, where you will find plenty of lively bars and restaurants.

The Peggy Guggenheim Gallery is a five minute walk away, and of course the Accademia is also very close; there are several galleries and art shops in the area. The university is also in this part of town, so there is no shortage of bookshops.

There are two supermarkets within easy walking distance - one at the end of the Zattere and another in Campo Santa Margherita. A floating greengrocer can be found in Campo San Barnaba, and you can buy very good fresh fish from a stall in Campo Santa Margherita in the mornings.

The master bedroom has a beautiful wooden double bed ideal for a romantic night in; the second bedroom has twin single beds. Both bedrooms are fitted with mosquito nets at the windows and the apartment has central heating and air conditioning.

The sitting room has a comfortable sofa for relaxing after a long day sightseeing. It has a flatscreen TV, DVD player and iPod/iPhone dock. There is also free WiFi.

The Kitchen is well appointed and includes a full size dish washer and washing machine, a microwave, fridge freezer and coffee machine. There are plenty of things for chopping, slicing, sieving and cooking!

The Bathroom has a full size bath with shower, toilet, basin and bidet.

Ca' Venetia has been carefully restored with the aim of providing relaxation, comfort and practicality. It is in a fantastic location and we hope that it will provide an excellent base for your perfect Venetian experience.

The rental cost includes all cleaning, but there is an additional fee for 'meet and greet' which is payable in cash directly to the person who meets you, shows you the apartment, explains how everything works, and issues you with your keys. This fee is currently €35 (+VAT 22%) between 10.00 and 19.30, and €50 (=VAT 22%) between 19.30 and 23.30. This is standard practice in Venice. The greeter will also ask you for your card details to act as a security deposit when you arrive. We also ask guests to sign a short-term contract which we will email you as soon as you book.

If the dates you have enquired about are available we will hold them for you exclusively for 24 hours. I after this time you have not booked the dates are booked on a first come first served basis. Your booking is not secure until payment has been received.

Great apartment in Venice

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in this spacious modern apartment. The kitchen is well equipped, bedrooms comfortable, quiet at night and a great location. It is very close to the Accademia vaporetto stops, the Guggenheim Museum, and restaurants.

Great location and nice apartment

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our few nights at this apartment. Greatly appreciated the ease and allowance of early check in, and our greeter was wonderful and provided good guidance for local transportation and services. The apartment was nice, overlooking a beautiful courtyard, and the layout was great for our family of four (two kids). The couch in the living room could use replacing, it's rather uncomfortable, but other than that no complaints at all! Lovely neighborhood setting.

Great Location

  • 3 of 5

We met the greeter, Julia, at the Accademia waterbus stop at 11:30 am. The apt wasn't cleaned yet, which was no problem. FYI: Do not put anything in the frig until the housekeeper is done. I put in a couple of water bottles in frig. Everything got cleared out of frig. Kudos to the cleaner; job was well done!

Pro: location is great, apt is spacious enough for 3-4 people, clean apt, good restaurants and public transportation is near by. The master bed was nice and firm.

Cons: No interior light in the entry. The light was on one day in the morning. We were not able to locate the switch, but thank goodness for iPhone flashlights. We returned the 2nd night to find that the entry area was under construction; we stepped into a unlit dirt pit (10" down from original cement floor) w/the pile of brick and cement off to the side. We were not notified that they would be replacing the cement floor. The workmen were very nice and accommodating. They would lay planks down for us and helped us out the door. We felt bad interrupting their work, especially when they were pouring the cement. Even though we were gone most of the day, comfortable furniture to sit in would be nice.

Good location and clean but...

  • 3 of 5

Adequate lodging but we were there only 2 nights and it was bearable. Kitchen was awkward--not sure how you would cook in it. Air con is portable unit that isn't vented properly so is not worth much. Neighbor yelled at us several times for coming and going--we were not meaning to be loud and it was not early or late. Lots of rules and an unexpected service charge.

Owner's Response: I am sorry that you found our kitchen to be inadequate, many of our guests have previously commented on how nice it it and how well appointed. I regularly cook for our family of six without problems. The air conditioning unit is externally vented, howevever if it is moved from room to room it is important to securely re attach the vent hose to the unit as well as inserting it into the wall vent. All fees are clearly stated in the body of the listing as well as on the contract, so I am sorry that any of these were a surprise to you.

Great location with everything close by

  • 5 of 5

There were four adults staying and we all agree that the apartment is a 4.5 so I’ve rounded to 5. None of us had any real complaints. It was in a great location with what we needed not too far away. The grocery store was a bit farther than we were expecting but that was not a big deal to us (we’ve since learned that when an Italian gives you a distance by time, double it. They must walk twice the speed of the average person). The neighborhood is mostly quiet with nice shops and restaurants close by. The water bus stops were very convenient and easy for us to pronounce and remember. Most importantly is that the apartment is easy to find. It was not hidden back with lots of twists and turns which is a big plus in a city known for that.

These were the very picky complaints we had:

There were not any wash cloths in the bathroom or kitchen.

The shower is a bit weird. You had to stand to the side of it and the shower curtain was not wide enough and only covered half the tub/shower combo. Easy fix is to add a second curtain.

The couch could not fit four adults comfortably.

There is no dryer, just the washing machine.

None of these complaints actually bothered us. It was just a little inconvenient but we worked around them. I would definitely stay here again.

Dorsoduro has the benefit of being a quiet area of Venice within very easy reach of all the principal attractions. The apartment is within a few minutes' walk of the beautiful church of the Salute, The Academia and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. Nearby are the lively squares of San Barnaba and Santa Margarita. St Mark's Square can be reached on foot within twenty minutes, as can the Rialto Bridge.

Dorsoduro has plenty to offer in terms of bars and restaurants and there is a supermarket within easy walking distance of Ca' Venetia if you feel like eating in.

The famous Zattere promenade is less than two minutes walk away, and this offers incredible views over the Guidecca Canal, often with sensational sunsets.
