Minimum Stay 7 nights

Overview

About the property

4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, with separate toilets. Sleeps 8 adults + 2 infants

A rustic converted stable block, rented on a weekly basis. Change over day commencing on a Saturday. The house was originally part of a large hunting lodge, adjacent to the Chateau of Argoules and originates to before the French Revolution. The house stands within an enclosed characteristic courtyard with original buildings such as the hunting dogs kennels and the Pigeonniers. Which are the original pigeon dwellings, one of which stands very high above other buildings, including the great carriage house.

If you are looking for a quite peaceful, tranquil place to stay this is it, a bird lovers paradise. There are 3 areas nearby where fishing lovers can relax and fish. Permits are easily bought and all information is at the Gite.

It is within 45 minutes drive to beautiful sandy beaches, also the local town of Hesdin has a new swimming pool with a children's pool. There are water slides and an outdoor pool also (open in summer).

Belle Dune about 35 minutes from the house is a wTer park with wave machines.

The house is set in a quite area, great for bird watching former guests have sat out in the late evenings to watch the owls fly off to hunt, return with their catch for their chicks. If you are very quite, you can hear the chicks screeching in the tower. Also in the evenings the courtyard is a buzz with bats flying about catching insects. If you are very still you may encounter the resident hedgehog doing his nightly prowl looking for food.

During the day many different birds come to feed, while others nest in the surrounding buildings. The property has a pair of resident woodpeckers and a couple of pairs of wrens. Relax on a lounger, close your eyes and listen to the chorus of birdsong, just amazing.

The house can sleep up to 8 adults and 2 infants, travel cots with linen provided. Also 2 feeding chairs, and fireguard for the wood burner. There is also a door at both ends of the stairs, which helps prevent toddlers getting upstairs unsupervised.

The house is bright and airy with many original features including beams and a inglenook fire place containing a wood burner. Its a lovely room to relax in front of the woodburner.

The house comprises of two floors, giving plenty of space to relax and enjoy the space. There is a second quite sitting room, which leads onto the patio, makes a lovely place to sit and read away from the main sitting room, which has a large flat screened TV, and receives free sat TV.

This house is so designed, it almost comprises of two sections, which makes it ideal for extended family accommodation. The ground floor bedroom has it's own bathroom and toilet. This bedroom is at the opposite end of the house to the other sleeping accommodation, and does not have a floor above it, thus making it private and quite for perhaps grandparents.

By booking through Homeaway you are awarded the security of your payment, and we offer the secuirty of a clean and comfortable hoiday home.

You pay a security deposit in case of breakages, but this is refundable providing there are no breakages or extra cleaning. In the years we have been renting we have never had to deduct any monies, which prides us on the client of guest we recruit and the respect they have for the property and its surroundings.

The house is also furnished with 6 smoke alarms and CO2 detector, this is above and beyond the health and safety requirements. We also provide fire guard for small children and take every care to avoid or deal with accidents.

Why Daphne Power chose Argoules

It is in a wonderful setting, right on the village green and beside the Chateau, and opposite the historic Auberge Le Gros Tilleau meaning the large lime tree, which stands proud in front of the Auberge. There are also 2 other

restaurants nearby.

The Gite is part of the original hunting lodge courtyard surrounded on all sides by other buildings, such as the coach house, and the original hunting dog kennels. And another stable block.

It is very secure for children and we suggest guests follow the sun around the courtyard at various times during the day.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

An enclosed private courtyard, making it ideal for children, opposite an Auberge, where you can have a meal and be able to walk home. Also very near the Abbaye de Valloires with its wonderful gardens which are open to the public, where is also a restaurant, coffee shop and small tourist shop which sell well chosen items to reflect their gardens and the ethos of the whole area.

It is about 30 mins drive to the many sandy beaches along the coast. The house has been used by many guests who have visited Euro Disney while staying here, as it is very accessible to the A16.

In fact the guests who stay last New Year spent a very enjoyable New Year's Eve in Euro Disney.

The village has many great circular walks and only a few minutes drive away are the marches with beautiful walks. We are also close to the forest of Hesdin a very relaxing place to walk or picnic.

little paradise in Argoules

  • 5 of 5

We really loved this holiday home. It is the best house we have rented in France ever. This is a lovely ancient home (former horse stables) with beautiful surroundings. The house is very comfortable and equipped with everything you need, yes really everything. Really nice owners (Daphne is a great scones-cook) and the fact that they are Irish and speak English is very convenient for those who speak very little French. The little kittens in the garden were an absolute bonus for us :-). We really hope many people will have the same wonderful experience we have had! Tom & Daphne, thanks for letting us stay in your wonderful home!

Un havre de paix.

  • 5 of 5

Golfing at Nampont Saint Martin and Belle Dune, both very pleasant courses.

We are very enar to many historic memorials WW1 and WW2

The great Canadian memorial at Vimy Ridge is a must to see also near Arras and the beautiful squares therre to enjoy.
