House, 2 Bedrooms + Den, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

If there is paradise on earth, it is at wonderful Anini Beach. Our home is located about 3 miles down Anini Beach Road, away from Anini Park and the crowds that gather or camp there. Rise with the sun and walk for miles on the beach, swim in the warm waters right in front of the house without worry of big waves (unless it is stormy out), bicycle, skate, windsurf, hike to your hearts content.

This is a private home situated in a cove, that has approximately 1650 square feet of living area. The two bedrooms are separated from one another for total privacy. The master suite has an attached bathroom; the second bedroom is located right next to the second bath. Our kitchen is outstanding, with new appliances, and has a view that most homes at Anini Beach wish for. Plus, this house does not sit up on stilts like most do, which means that with very little effort, it can have wheelchair access. There are only two steps into the master bedroom.

You should know that our home has no television or VCR...by choice of our constantly returning guests who wish to escape with their families and have real vacation time together. Even the kids don't mind as they have their parent's full attention for the entire time they are there. We do have DSL, though, if you really need a 'what's happening back home' fix.

This home is not a fancy palace with fine art...it is a beach house where you and your family can truly make yourselves at home and wash away the worries of the world by soaking in the beauty that surrounds you. So, if you expect stained glass windows and silk sheets, you won't find them here. And, we do get rain at times and sometimes storms...so we do not guaranty the weather nor offer refunds if the weather doesn't suit you. I also have to acknowldege that the County of Kauai has taken it upon itself to create some parking out front (for 2-3 cars) just recently, to my horror as I was there when it happened, but as one guest who has been going over for years told me,'it was eventually inevitable, as it is such a beautiful and quiet spot to spend time at'. But, we do try hard to make your stay special...and can offer rainy day tips if you need them. All you have to do is ask.

About Jo Chisholm

Born and raised in Northern California, I married a 'local haole boy' and became immediately enamored with Kauai, most especially with Anini Beach. After Hurricane Iniki, I did search and rescue with the San Jose Mercury News for 6 weeks, locating 'missing' family members, and delivering tools, building materials, money, and notes of love from Mainland family and friends. I also did fund-raising for the Seniors and children in the little town of Kilauea, making Christmas and the new year a little brighter. At one time, I was considered the Kauai online expert to AOL when AOL was new. I love Kauai and Anini Beach, and enjoy sharing my knowledge and home with those who want a memorable vacation in Paradise with their family.

Why Jo Chisholm chose Kauai

This is one of the most beautiful spots on earth. I spent my honeymoon there 40 years ago. It is one of the most romantic places I have ever been to. My husband was born in Honolulu and raised on Kauai, mostly at Anini, and we spent the summers and holidays there with our daughters. Our oldest has twin daughters and they have started their own Anini tradition. It is a wonderful place to spend with your children, which is what Hawaiian culture is all about.

What makes this house unique

Waking with the sun rise, coffee and a walk on the beach, incredible sunsets during most of the summer months, watching for the 'green flash' from our deck, usually no waves on the beach to worry about, helping your little ones feed the crabs at dusk, reef walking at low tide, being able to let your children run on the beach most months without worry. Peaceful relaxation. No steep stairs to climb...

Paradise on earth

This is the place you want to be.

Pro: Right on a sandy beach or should I say gigantic bath since there are minimal waves. This was fantastic for our family with kids age 8 and 7. Snorkling in front of the house. Super quiet. Great beach supplies. Amazingly kind and organized owner. Fully equiped kitchen. Great porch for relaxing and dining.

Cons: This is place is so great...we did not want to visit the rest of the island! The only minor set back...no air conditionning. When it is super humid it can get a little warm in the house even with the fans on.

Escape from a Minne-snow-ta Winter

Can't say enough about this spot in "paradise". It is absolutely FABULOUS...!!! It is a perfect place to explore the island from or just sit on the beach. The information Jo sent trumped most of the research we had done regarding things to see and do. We simply ran out of time to do all the things we wanted to do. HIGHLY recommend this wonderful place.

Fleeing from New England for 10 days of paradise on the Garden island

You couldn't get much better than Anini Beach as far as the Garden Island is concerned. I had the opportunity to correspond with Jo the owner who seems like a fabulous person who has much to offer in this 2 plus bedroom rental. She also send lots of information about the island and what were the good takes. The kitchen has a Wonderful new refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave which make this a very workable kitchen. Swimming across the street is ideal for children or those with walking issues. The shed was equipped with beach chairs and activities. We did not want for much, Great outside porch to just sit and watch the pounding of the waves out at the reef. The white sand feels good on the feet and it was good for the soul. Thanks Jo for a wonderful vacation

This Anini Beach home is Heaven on Earth!

We arrived in Kauai with a long list of activities to complete during our stay on the Garden Isle. However, most were forgotten once we arrived at this Anini Beach gem! Comfortable and well appointed, we found that we never wanted to leave the lanai! The home is all that the owner describes and more. Plus she was very helpful and quickly responded to any questions we had about the property, surrounding area, and local attractions.

Jo, thank you again for sharing your home and for your hospitality. You truly have a little piece of heaven here on earth and we look forward to staying with you again!

*Some local places and activities we recommend: The bistro and the bakery in Kilaueah, Tahiti Nui in Hanalei. Smith's Luau, Capt. Andy's Na Pali sunset dinner cruise on the Southern Star (out of Port Allen). Also the Sunday morning service at the Hanalei Church of Christ is very uplifting!

Perfect

Aloha! We stayed at this gem for Christmas, New Years Eve and then was married on New Years Day. Words cannot express how this house just draws you in and allows you to soak up quality family time as well as the amazing sun. This house includes all the basics needs to live, not to mention previous guests leave a little something behind for the next guest to use. Six of us stayed in the house and there was plenty of room. The kitchen is large enough for several people to prep and prepare meals. There are two BBQ (charcoal) grills provided and we used them both! On our wedding day, we hosted close to 20 people at the house and the way the house is laid out is perfect for entertaining. The front porch and front yard were some of our favorite places to hang out in the morning, before going steps across to the beach, and in the evening to relax and listen to the waves. There are so many favorites we have with this house. We loved the fact that there was not a television. Two 16 year old girls & no TV = time to connect and talk. The entire area is beautiful! The pictures do not do this little bit of paradise justice. We hope to come back to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Mahalo!
