This rare and unique property is located in Villefranche old town 200m from the quayside and a 10 minute walk to the beach. It has two substantial terraces giving panoramic views of the bay and Cap Ferrat. The lower terrace is set up for al fresco dining, while the upper is perfect for breakfast, cocktails or sunbathing while enjoying the beautiful view. The property was completely renovated in 2013 and has a new well-equipped kitchen and dining area. The living room has folding doors that open fully, creating a beautiful indoor/outdoor space with the upper terrace. Two of the three double bedrooms are en suite, while the third bedroom has its own separate bathroom. The master bedroom is on the main floor, with each of the other bedrooms on two separate floors below.
The parents of the current owners fell in love with Villefranche in the 1960s, and decided to purchase this holiday home in the old town. It has been a family home since then, and is now available to rent for the first time.
This amazing house is perfect for a relaxing holiday in Villefranche. It is well appointed, clean and in a perfect location. The best thing is the view from the terrace which changes daily as you see all the movements in the small harbour. Although there are steps down to the harbour, restaurants and shops this will probably be the case wherever you stay in this lovely town. There are excellent restaurants close by, our favourites were La Mare Germain and Garcons. The supermarkets are close by and we suggest using the larger one just up the hill as it is then downhill on the way back with the shopping!
The layout of the house means that there is one bedroom and bathroom on the main floor, with two bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms downstairs. This looked daunting at first but after the stairs were negotiated a couple of times this was not a problem.
Local transport is close by with reliable trains and buses taking you to other locations on the coast but with such a lovely view from the terrace it is hard to want to go anywhere else. We did walk into Beaulieu Sur Mer which is charming and an easy walk along the beach.
We were four ladies who were there primarily to see the Monaco Grand Prix, alas the only day it rained in the 12 days we were there was on race day!
A big thank you to Geraldine, the managing agent who met us on arrive and again on departure. The booking was easy and response was always quick.
We look forward to returning in 2017!
Our group of four adults enjoyed the beautiful home. It is clean and refreshing. The views are amazing. The location is nice. There is no off-street parking, and there is a lot of activity on the street, so be prepared to walk several blocks up hill to the paid parking deck.
We were disappointed at the lack of responsiveness from the property manager. Before leaving home, while trying to send our deposits and payments, we never received a prompt response. All e-mail messages had to be sent several times and usually phone messages were obliged to follow in order to answer the most simple questions. Because of our flight schedule, we needed to leave the property early. We made arrangements with the property manager upon check in to meet and check out at a certain time. When she didn't show up, and did not answer her cell phone, we were forced to call the Real Estate company and they were able to contact her and she arrived. These are not earth-shattering issues, but they were inconvenient.
The house itself, is beautiful. Steep stairs, so I wouldn't recommend for anyone who has trouble climbing stairs.
I’ve been lucky enough to visit this lovely house twice now – coming from Bristol (UK) it’s a very easy journey with a direct flight to Nice making it a very viable option for even just a weekend away. The house has been beautifully refurbished and is very comfortable even for a large group – each of my visits has been as part of a group of 6 or 7 adults. It also has a fantastic terrace that overlooks the bay and catches the sun throughout the day – great for lazing on if you can’t quite make it down to the beach, and for al fresco dining.
The town itself is a picturesque maze of old cobbled streets leading down to the waterfront, with lots of good quality restaurants if you want to eat out. If you want a bit more variety then Nice is just a short bus ride away, and is well worth a visit in its own right. Otherwise there are plenty of local shops (including a delicious boulangerie) near to the house where you can buy pretty much anything you might need, so it really is ideally situated.
All-in-all a fabulous place to stay in the area – I can’t recommend it highly enough.
The house was easy to find and public transport from the airport was simple with wonderful views of the coast from the bus.
I would recommend the house with its unusual upside down layout that maximises the roof terrace with its stunning views over the bay. There was no reason to move from this quiet sun trap.
All facilities in the house were of a beautiful quality and extremely clean with very comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen and good bakers and grocer stores a short walk away.
The town is really lovely to explore with characterful cobbled streets and plenty of small shops and restaurants to choose from. The beach is a short walk away and perfect for swimming and paddling.
We would love to return as there are so many places locally to visit that we didn't manage due to enjoy ourselves, relaxing on the terrace.
The listing description was accurate: the apartment was modern, air conditioned, fully equipped and spacious. The terraces had spectacular views of Cap Ferrat. It was clean and well maintained and centrally located to the beach, restaurants and shops. Nearby buses to Nice and a train system to Monaco and neighboring towns were available.
Customer service was excellent and we have recommended this property to family and relatives.
We were having vacation on the villa in August 2014. We had 2 families, 8 people in total. Despite the fact that there are only 3 bedrooms, all of us were able to stay comfortably, thanks to two additional mattresses. The villa has been recently renovated, new furniture, all the beds are very comfortable, interesting layout on several levels. The kitchen has everything you may need. The terrace offers stunning views of the bay, the mountains and the rooftops of the city!
In the morning during the ringing of bells, we watched the sunrise and coming ships, had coffee with fresh croissants. And in the evening we were admiring the starry sky and drinking wine with cheese. It was very romantic: relaxing on the large terrace! Location of the villa is very convenient. Nearby there is everything you need: shops, grocery stores, bakeries, restaurants, bus stop, train station. There is no need to rent a car to go to any city. It is better to get a bus or train. Clean beach a 10 minute walk down the stairs and through the beautiful streets of the old city. Because of the many stairs way to the sea turns into a fun fitness. Geraldine (rent agent of the villa) - very friendly young woman, Who was always ready to help us. Many thanks to her for everything! We spent an unforgettable two weeks in the beautiful town of Villefranche-sur-Mer! We will definitely stay at the villa ever again. We highly recommend this villa for a perfect holiday for all of you!
Our house is located in the heart of Villefranche old town, minutes walk from restaurants, bars and shopping. We are just 200m from the Quayside. There are two beaches within walking distance. The Plage des Marinières is just 500m away and another beach near the Darse just 12 minutes on foot. Nice is easily accessible by regular buses that stop 400m from the house. Beaulieu-sur-Mer is a pretty half an hour walk or short drive away. The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild on Cap Ferrat has lovely gardens and makes a good day trip. Beautiful mountain villages such as Eze are a short drive or bus journey away.
Old Nice is just 3 kilometres away. Monaco is 7 kilometres away. Nice airport is 10 kilometres away. Antibes is 15 kilometres away and Juan les Pins and Cannes just beyond that. St Paul de Vence, Vence and Grasse are also just a few kilometres away. And the border to Italy just 15 kilometres away. You do not need a car to enjoy all these sites. The public transport, either train or bus, are superb and go to all of these places easily and inexpensively.
