About Jenna & Nate
The owners: Amie and David lived in the DC area for over 20 years and have recently (summer 2019) relocated to the UK for work. Their family loves to travel and experience not only the sites, but the people of the areas they visit. They are a British and American family who love meeting people from across the country and the world. Upstairs tenants: The main floors of the house are inhabited by three, young, DC professionals. Please do not disturb them during your stay. Your hosts: I grew up to the tune of reveille and taps living across the river from an army base in southern Virginia where my folks settled to get away from the hustle and bustle of North Jersey. I attended culinary school at Johnson and Wales University and honed my skills in local kitchens until I moved to DC in 2009. After a short stint experimenting with the west cost way of life, it was clear DC was home so home I went. In 2015, after nearly two decades experience as a chef, I left my last professional kitchen and set out to start my own business. SaltSugarFire personal chef services was born and has since flourished. Nate was raised in Northern California, studied at the University of Colorado - Boulder, and had the time of his life living a block from the ocean in San Diego. We met in DC but he joined me in California for a year where he found his true calling: coaxing life from seed and soil. Back in DC, he's built a boutique home-gardening consulting business teaching DC residents to build productive, permaculture-inspired, urban growing systems. Our hope and desire as hosts is to use our talents and skills to enrich our guests' experiences and, if we're lucky, inspire them too.
Why Jenna & Nate chose Northeast Washington
The location can't be beat. The area is growing rapidly with restaurants, bars, and stores. It's wonderful not having to use a car to get groceries, dinner, drinks, etc. The Smithsonian is an easy walk on nice days and DC's public transportation puts all its interesting spots at your fingertips.

Great spot on The Hill
Great spot on The Hill For a couple to crash after a day of activities in DC. Everything you need at a fair price. The property managers are extremely responsive and only live a few blocks away if you need assistance.
Great place to stay
We had a wonderful time staying here. Thanks so much.
Perfect! Everything you could want or need
The owners and managers have literally thought of every convenience, from coffee to comfort. The unit is clean with solid surface floors (so no stained or smell capturing carpet), and a fully functional kitchen. Plenty of seating and sleeping places for myself and my adult son. The bed and bedding were comfortable with nice fluffy towels and a modern shower. Even very nice televisions with audio fire sticks. And any question you could have will be answered in a thorough and organized visitor’s book.
The one 4 star (rather than 5) rating I gave was for neighborhood and this is a very picky one - the street tends to collect a lot of trash; but certainly not so much as to feel dirty, nor is it a reflection on the owners/managers. The unit is toward the H street end of the block, where there is every kind of take out food that you could want (I do NOT recommend the Taqueria, ugh - worst enchiladas ever) as well as convenience (cvs, 7/11) and (Whole Foods, Giant) supermarkets with a short walk. A streetcar also stops there, though I took the lazy way and a cab or lyft will get you to Capitol Hill for $8. A parking pass allowed us to save some money by driving and then have a free parking space, of which there was always one available nearby.
I seriously couldn’t think of a way to make a place more convenient and comfortable. I’ve stayed in a few others in DC that were fine; this one is far above and beyond; though I suspect that spreading this info will reduce the chances of my using it again!
Thanks, Nate and Jenna

What a cute apartment
We stayed as a couple, no kids, but were really impressed with the selection of books, some toys and dvd's for families to watch. Everything was clean and fresh. Everything we needed was provided for us. We lucked out with a parking spot right in front of the property! Everything was easy to find, really appreciated the guest book explaining the metro, and the passes with instructions on how to fill them. Comfy bed, very nice bathroom. We felt the apartment was well designed and very nicely decorated. The bus got us down to the Smithsonian & all the gov't buildings. Everything was beautiful. The grocery store was so close, we just walked. Very convenient. We would definitely consider staying here again the next time we come to town. Jenna was also so very helpful, and was always quick to answer calls or emails. (Thanks Jenna)
Wonderful place to stay!
My husband and I stayed at this great apartment for a long weekend. I always worry that places won't be clean but I needn't have worried about this place. Everything was sparkling clean! The apartment is very nicely decorated and had all the amenities you would need. I would definitely stay there again!
My sister and I stayed here a few days ago with our adult daughters. The apartment is cute, pristine and centrally located. There is so much to see and do in DC; David and Amie created a fabulous binder chock full of helpful info. Will definitely stay here next time I’m in town!
We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and look forward to having you back. Dave and Amie
