About Glyn West

We are Glyn and Elizabeth West from Great Ayton, North Yorkshire. We have two children Joseph and Thomas. We both grew up locally and met at University. This is our holiday home that we share with you.

Glyn West purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Glyn West chose Penrith, East Lakes & Eden Valley

We purchased this cottage in October 2011 and spent 18 months refurbishing it, a real labour of love with attention to detail. We use the cottage ourselves around bookings, our weekend retreat in a rural peaceful setting.

What makes this cottage unique

Set in it own grounds the woodland with it's babbling stream, make the place perfect to relax, giving the children freedom to run free and enjoy the outdoors.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Really glad we choose your cottage for our weekend away. Great location and a fantastic cosy cottage. A real home from home, with lovely grounds.

Superb property!!

  • 5 of 5

Great welcome from Glyn. What a wonderful place to stay. Right on the doorstep of the Lake District. Perfectly relaxing location. Excellent woodland garden. Extremely clean and modern within. Best of all was the log fire !! Thank you so much for the log supply too. We'll be booking here again, no doubt about it.

Beautiful cottage!

  • 5 of 5

A fantastic cottage in a great location; near to Penrith, Carlisle and Ullswater. My sister and I booked to come here for my mum's 60th birthday and we certainly weren't disappointed. Parking is available off-road right next to the cottage although be careful when exiting the cottage onto the main road as it's a bit of a blind spot! Spotlessly clean inside and Glyn even provided a bottle of prosecco which was a lovely touch. There was an issue with the drainage system but Glyn replied to my messages immediately and the problem was fixed. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anybody wishing to come to this part of the country. You definitely need a car to travel around as restaurants aren't in walking distance (unless you wish to walk up a country road with no street lights or pavements!).

Overall, 10/10!

Gorgeous cottage, relaxing setting

  • 5 of 5

Gorgeous cottage! So clean and well equipped. Full of character and style, finished to an extremely high standard. So relaxing in front of the fire after a full day out and about. Had a great week exploring Penrith and the surrounding area. Our 2 1/2 year old loved the garden and tractor!

Would definitely recommend! Thankyou for a great stay!

Cosy comfortable clean peaceful and relaxing!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay it was just for two nights but the cottage was really nice, very clean and comfortable. We could have stayed longer. The prosecco was a nice touch especially as we were only staying for a short break. We loved the wood burner and used it throughout our stay. Kids loved the television in their room which was a novelty as there's no tv's in bedrooms at home. The kids loved the garden pathways to find fairys and used their imagination having fun. A nice break thanks!

PERFECT BASE CAMP

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cottage for a week and it could not be faulted. Spotlessly clean and to a high standard. It was the perfect base for us to get around the lakes and it was a real pleasure to return after a hard day on the fells and sit and plan the next day in wonderful relaxing surroundings.

We would highly recommend.
