If you are looking for a special holiday whether it be adventure, activity, romantic, fun, relaxing, or all five combined, sailing yacht Shanti will definitely be the choice for you.
Mal is the owner/skipper of the yacht. You will be in safe hands as for many years Malcolm has worked as a professional sailor on large private, charter and racing yachts. A job that has taken him all over the world and gained him a wealth of knowledge in the sailing and hospitality industry. Early on in his career Malcolm worked as a sailing instructor at 'Plas Menai' the national water-sports centre in Wales. He is always happy to teach sailing and pass on his experience during your time on the yacht. A friendly and relaxed host with excellent knowledge of the Ionian islands and who has many local friends, you will be sure to have a memorable time on this beautiful yacht.
Mal Stockton purchased this yacht in 2012
We have just returned from our Fabulous "Shanti" Holiday having had the happiest of holidays. My husband and I and our two teenagers loved the adventure, all made possible by Malcolm our amazing skipper. The boat was immaculate, comfortable, stylish, gave us a wonderful sailing experience and was by far the most beautiful boat in the harbour! We swam off the boat every morning, snorkelling and admiring the lovely sea life and unspoilt views of the stunning Ionian islands and then headed out into the wider sea for some thrilling sailing every afternoon. Malcolm was a great guide for the area - a font of knowledge on the best places to moor, eat, drink, shop, sail and generally have a great time. He was also a brilliant sailor and a really fun person and we all learnt a huge amount in the short week we were on board Shanti with his gentle guidance and encouragement with lots of laughs along the way. Thank you Malcolm for such a special holiday.
We have spent the most amazing week on board S/Y Shanti with Malcolm. It was a first real sailing trip for my wife and son (8 y.o.) and they absolutely loved it.
Shanti is very spacious and comfortable fast cruiser with all the modern amenities - the stay was really comfortable in terms of having living space, large cockpit area, well-equipped galley, etc. However, the boat alone does not make the experience so special - Malcolm does.
Malcolm is a very professional host and skipper. He handles the boat with grace and always in a safe and considerate manner. As guests, we discussed our route and multiple options every evening and in the morning, Malcolm knows the area really well and can always suggest a harbour, restaurant or an anchorage. Small things, like ability to call a restaurant owner at noon and reserve marina space for dinner made the whole experience very relaxing.
The Ioninan itself is a perfect spot for such a vacation - lots of islands and harbours in close proximity of each other, with beautiful, clear water.
We will be back next year :)
Shanti was a great sailing boat loved and cared for by mal the owner/skipper. To which he extended that attention and care to ensuring we got what we wanted out of our week. He taught us a great deal about sailing and shared some amazing experiences- a true genuine man. Would recommend hiring shanti and mal for your sailing experience, whether you are novices (like us) or more experienced sailors and want to experience a beautiful sailing boat - surpasses any experience you will get with a mainstream sailing holiday company. We are hooked see you soon!
We (parents and fourteen year old son) spent five days in the middle of August on Shanti, a beautiful 50 foot sailing yacht. We were looking for something more than a villa with a pool and were able to slot our time on board in the middle of our two week holiday to Kefalonia.
As complete novice sailors we did not know what to expect but it turned out to be a great first sailing experience for us, enhanced by our brilliant skipper, Malcolm. As well as learning some basic sailing skills we had a very relaxing time, saw some beautiful places and enjoyed many laughs along the way. From the moment we stepped onto Shanti Malcolm ensured that we felt at home with his relaxed yet fully professional approach. The cabin space on board is a good size with comfy beds and well equipped cooking facilities including a large fridge for nice cool drinks on board. We also had the opportunity to sample local dishes along the way at various tavernas which were all great value.
We came away feeling that our five days on board (Malcolm had advised booking for longer!) was a little too short and a full week would have been better to do everything we wanted to. Nevertheless we managed to visit three other islands during our time and found this a great way to explore the area. Highlights, particularly for our son, were diving from the bow of Shanti into the crystal clear waters, snorkeling (especially the sunken airplane!) and of course taking the helm of Shanti!
We would thoroughly recommend a trip on Shanti and hope to repeat the experience again ourselves.
Our holiday on Sailing yacht Shanti really was an incredible adventure and an amazing holiday experience I would recommend to anyone.
We were all first time sailors with no idea of what to expect from our holiday. On arriving at the yacht we were pleasantly surprised of just how spacious and modern she was. We sat down with Malcolm and discussed where and what we would be doing that week. All our suggestions were listened to and incorporated in to the plan. We really wanted to visit Ithaca as we have holidayed there before and wanted to experience it again from the sea.
Throughout our holiday Malcolm took us to some incredible places. We snorkled in turquiose waters, enjoyed some amazing sailing and even saw a school of dophins one afternoon who came up and swam along side the boat for a while.
We spent some nights in harbours where we took the chance to dine out in the local taverna's and others nights were spent anchored out in the most beautiful coves. One of my many highlights was taking a morning swim before breakfast straight off the back of the boat.
No one was ready to leave and we all would have loved to stay another week. Thanks again Malcolm for making our holiday so memorable we will talking about this experience for a long time to come.
Our week aboard Shanti with skipper Malcolm Stockton totally exceeded our expectations and ranks as one of the best holidays we have ever had. We were hoping for a relaxing time around the Greek islands that somehow combined some serious sailing adventure for Ed, whilst giving a safe and non-threatening introduction to yachting for Penny and some fun swimming and chilling opportunities for our two teenage girls. We achieved all this and more!
Malcolm cleverly tailored our itinerary to incorporate the things we like - eating fresh fish in lovely tavernas, getting some peace and quiet away from the bustle, swimming in the crystal clear sea - and also managed to encompass our special requests like sailing to see the sunset and anchoring overnight in secluded coves to make the most of every day on the water.
Shanti is an elegant boat - sleek and yet spacious and luxurious. She is well designed and maintained and capable of some impressive performance, whilst being large and stable, never making us feel uncomfortable or vulnerable.
If you're looking to try sailing for the first time then this opportunity is definitely for you. Malcolm's priority is safety and comfort for everyone, adapting the plan to ensure that everyone is enjoying themselves. His local knowledge is impressive, covering everything from where the best wind can be found to where the nice tavernas and bakeries are.
We were a bit apprehensive about having someone join our holiday but Malcolm turned out to fit in perfectly, judging when to join in and when to allow us our own space. He was lots of fun and took the time to make everyone's holiday special, including teaching Ed some new sailing and boat handling skills.
Even though the whole experience was amazing, our special highlights were swimming by moonlight, a sunset sail and twilight cruise, overnight anchorages in quiet coves, eating dinner on the boat to our own favourite music, seeing dolphins, and of course some great sailing, We definitely want to go back again.
During your stay on the yacht there are many beautiful and interesting places to see and visit. We will cruise between Kefalonia, Ithaca, Meganisi, Lefkada, Skorpio and other islands in the area.
