About Gwen Kinney - Casale

Our Father purchased this property for his 4 children around 1968. We later purchased 2 cabins from a motel that wanted them removed. So down the road they went. We attached them and added space between to make a larger cabin. All we had to add was a kitchen. Later we added a deck and screened porch.

Why Gwen Kinney - Casale chose Waldoboro

It offers privacy and quiet seclusion. It is very near the water and close to many attractions and things to do.

What makes this cottage unique

The 50 acres of forest on which it sits is a nature wonderland.

Exactly what we wanted!

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have picked a better place to spend our honeymoon!

The cottage is comfortable and homey. It was far enough off the road and we had complete privacy the entire week. We were able to unwind, relax and spend quality time together.

Everyday we discovered something different in decor. Its evident that everything means something and was put there with love. We enjoyed learning about the history and the family reading what was there and the pictures.

We took a walk in the woods everyday. Just beautiful landscape!

The only suggestion we would have to make it better is to leave a map to the water. We finally gave up went down the road.

Can't wait to return!

Wonderful cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Mainestay cottage. It's surrounded by woods and wildlife but also has sea air and lovely walks down to the cove. Plenty of room for 2-4, even on rainy days. We spent several lovely evenings in the screened porch, immune from the Maine mosquitoes. Easy access to Boothbay, Damariscota, Acadia and Belfast areas. We had a super time and hope to visit again. Thank you.

2015

  • 3 of 5

We had a nice time at the no frills "rustic" Mainestay cottage. Found lobstah at the dock in Friendship and cooked at the cottage. Made wild blueberry pancakes the next morning. Delish!

Mainestay Cottage is not for high maintenance folks. We had everything we needed but nothing more. The antique decor and history of the cottage lends to it's charm. Only criticism I have is that the walking paths to the water no longer exist. Not a huge deal but should be updated in the cottage bio.

Gwen was always available whenever we had questions.
