About Gwen Kinney - Casale
Our Father purchased this property for his 4 children around 1968. We later purchased 2 cabins from a motel that wanted them removed. So down the road they went. We attached them and added space between to make a larger cabin. All we had to add was a kitchen. Later we added a deck and screened porch.
Why Gwen Kinney - Casale chose Friendship
It offers privacy and quiet seclusion. It is very near the water and close to many attractions and things to do.
What makes this Cottage unique

We enjoyed our stay in this quaint cottage.
Thank you for writing a review, much appreciated.
Wonderful cabin in the woods
We loved our stay at Mainestay cottage. It's surrounded by woods and wildlife but also has sea air and lovely walks down to the cove. Plenty of room for 2-4, even on rainy days. We spent several lovely evenings in the screened porch, immune from the Maine mosquitoes. Easy access to Boothbay, Damariscota, Acadia and Belfast areas. We had a super time and hope to visit again. Thank you.
Wonderful Time at the cottage
We really enjoyed staying at the cottage. Cute cottage. Everything was there to use. Nice location, got to use the bikes'. Very affordable to rent. We had a wonderful time.
We had a nice time at the no frills "rustic" Mainestay cottage. Found lobstah at the dock in Friendship and cooked at the cottage. Made wild blueberry pancakes the next morning. Delish!
Mainestay Cottage is not for high maintenance folks. We had everything we needed but nothing more. The antique decor and history of the cottage lends to it's charm. Only criticism I have is that the walking paths to the water no longer exist. Not a huge deal but should be updated in the cottage bio.
Gwen was always available whenever we had questions.
Our favorite place to Vacation
This was our fourth visit to Mainestay Cottage, we have our favorite places to visit and things to do. As usual the local foods are wonderful, the lobster divine! The Sunsets breathtaking! This year we introduced a friend to Maine summer living and she loved it! We love to share our little bit of Vacation Heaven!
MAGICAL PERFECT PLACE
Just stayed here for a few days and found it absolutely perfect! —Cozy and secluded, set back a bit from the road. The cottage has a great location, a short walk from a stunning cove to kayak and canoe in (Gwen provides bikes and canoes/kayaks), and driving distance to the beach, Beth's Organic Farm and places to get delicious fresh local lobster. The deck was a gorgeous place for morning yoga and coffee and the screened-in porch was the best dining room I could ask for! I can't wait to come back.
Located on a quiet, dead-end country road, ideal for hiking and bicycling (bikes available). Nearby attractions in Boothbay, Damariscotta, Camden, Rockland and Rockport. Tour historic coastal villages, lighthouses, antiques, galleries and museums. Boating nearby. Visit Monhegan Island or further North to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
