It's built (2009) over a hill with view of the Mediterranean Sea, with a small gorge crossing above, becoming a resort for various birds. From one side, a kitchen garden with organically grown fruit-bearing trees and 1 acre of lawn with bona fide green plants from the other side. The villa is built with high standards and is equipped with all modern facilities such us Wi-Fi, Satellite TV, Shower rooms with Jacuzzi-sauna, kitchen with gas and has its own private pool, barbecue and garden. Among all this ahead on the horizon you can enjoy the view of the blue sea and most of all you can enjoy the privacy of the area but yet again close to everything since its only 3, 5 klm away from the beach and 5 from the main town of Rethymnon. I am Manos, owner and manager of CreteVillas4U. I have been in the hospitality sector long before CreteVillas4U, however. I was actually born, grew up, and spent most of my life in a hotel owned by my family. So, I guess it came as no surprise when I expressed my wish to study in Rhodes’ Tourism School and, later on, when I decided to start my own business in the sector.
One thing I learned growing up in a family-run hotel is that hospitality is more than hotel management, logistics and operations. It is a culture, passing down from one generation to the next. You can study to be a hotel manager but you cannot study to be hospitable.
I apply this philosophy in my business as well. The rule is simple: the guests of the villas I manage are my guests. As an active traveller, I expect nothing less myself.
The fourth generation of Dafermos hoteliers has already been born. I know now that my two beautiful children will probably follow my steps, like I did before them. There is a small difference though: they are smarter, more educated, better (big smile).
All the best,
Manos Dafermos purchased this villa in 2009
We (group of 15 friends) stayed at this property for one week in September 2013. We all were very happy with every aspect of our stay.
To begin with, booking the property was a very easy procedure, and any questions/requests of clarifications were attended to very quickly by one of the owners (Manos). Upon confirming the booking, Manos provided us with useful information about places to visit, the best beaches in the area and other highlights. The description with pictures of how to reach the property (both from Chania and Heraklion airports) was spot on and prevented anyone from getting lost.
Upon arrival at the house, we were welcomed by Dimitris, who helped us settle and provided any necessary explanations. The welcome pack in the house included a few bottles of delicious wine and fresh fruit.
The house itself leaves no room for complaint. It is built and decorated to very high standards and in a modern manner. The description provided by the owners as well as the pictures are very accurate. The winning features are definitely the terrace from which we enjoyed the beautiful view, as well as the large garden and pool.
All in all, this is a great spot from which to enjoy and discover Rethymno.
We very much enjoyed our stay in Oreades Villas. Mr. Dimitris and Mr. Manos were very helpful whenever we needed them. The location is even more beautiful than in the photo. Day trips in the area were great and we were provided with many suggestions. We were a family of 8 but there was easily more space for 4 more...our friends had to drop out at the last moment. The only drawback was that the shower stalls are rather tight. Having a sunset barbecue and watching the sun go down was one of the highlights of our stay.
Rethymnon is a blend of modern and old-time dignity and charm. It has a population of about 20,000 inhabitants and is the administrative and commercial center of the prefecture, as well as a communications center. It is well provided with travelers facilities and prides itself on its cultural activity and its significant presence in the general cultural life of the island, much of which is centred around the Faculty of Letters of the University of Crete, established here.
Artistic events are regularly organized, as are exhibitions, plays, concerts and lectures.
Rethymnon is linked by bus with the main towns and villages of the prefecture and also with Herakleion and Chania. There is also a regular year-round boat service linking Rethymnon with the port of Piraeus, but the town also makes use of the nearby port of Souda. Rethymnon has no airport, but it does have regular connections with the Chania airport.
Crete. The lowest end of Greece and Europe. The birthplace of civilization all around the world. The island with consecutive alterations of sceneries attracts visitors and offers a trip to yesterday, that everyone would want to keep as a lifetime experience...
Crete is the biggest island in Greece. It is situated among Aegean and Libyan Sea. It is the crossroad between East and West, Africa and Europe.
Due to this strategic location, Crete was always the bone of contention for the strongs of every era. The geographic location as and the contact with different civilizations, attributed to the special culture of this island. Cretians are famous for their hospitality (Xenios - Zeus, the god of hospitality, was born in Crete), their love towards country and preservation of customs.
It is an island that has everything. High mountains (Psiloritis, Lefka Ori, Dikti), beautiful beaches washed by the Cretan and Libyan Sea. Fertile grounds where, the famous Cretan citrus fruits are cultivated. The endless olive groves produce the fine Cretan olive oil, while also known is the Cretan wine from the island's vineyards. Everywhere you turn your sight, you will see historic monuments that reveal the island's history.
