This is not the 4 Seasons but it is unique and sure to make a memory. 4 Seasons isn’t noted for eagles, an amazing forest setting, and a Puget Sound view, but this place sure is.
It's a one-bedroom yurt in a nice wooded area with a water view in the distance. Less than 2 miles away from Vashon town. Perfect for a nice walk, bike ride, or a morning run. The yurt is 200 square feet inside with a wooden floor, a fold-out very nice futon bed, two nice sitting chairs, and a small coffee table and chairs. There is a lovely propane stove for looks only. It's currently not working. There is a water pump just outside where you can get water if needed...but no sink, shower, etc. There is an outhouse. Think of this as dry camping at its best.
If you are a glam camper and need a place to flop and reset while exploring and having fun on Vashon, this is for you!
Our family lives on the lower area of our property. About 300 feet from the Yurt. We also rent an Airstream directly across from the Yurt. It might/might not be rented when you are here.
Space
You will have access to only the Yurt. The lower property is a private residence, so off limits to visitors. Any questions or concerns should be handled by text and calls with the host Bruce.
Guest access
This rental is for the yurt, and you will need to park outside of the property on the public road...we suggest near the mailboxes. All amenities down below are part of our own home and not part of this rental.
Guest interaction
I prefer calls and texting to make sure your needs are being met. I’ll come to you in a second if I’m at the main home in the lower part of the property (about 300 feet away). Pre-pandemic, I was a super host. My goal is to have that status again shortly.
Neighborhood overview
1. You will be on a wooded property facing SeaTac from across the Puget Sound.
2. Uptown Vashon and all its great amenities is just 1.5 miles away.
3. KVI Beach, one of the best walking areas, is ~ 1 mile away.
Getting around
We ask that you park your vehicle on the street outside the property.
Other things to note
Pets are not welcome, unfortunately. We have a small dog on the lower property and want to ensure no harmful incidents.
- Bruce is very glad to talk about Vashon Island features, ideas for outings, and great places to eat. He’s walked and paddled almost every inch of the island.
- Smoking, non-paying Guests and Parties - strictly prohibited in and outside the Yurt. This truly is a chill zone, and we don’t want a fire!
- No hunting if you happen to be tempted! (I've been asked.)
- Sleeping:
+ As this is "glamping," we are providing eye shades and earplugs if that might improve your sleeping experience.
- For Vashon walks (our favorites):
+ KVI beach is fantastic - about 1 mile away.
+ Fisher Pond is also a lovely wooded forest walk. About 2.5 miles away.
+ Point Robinson is another winner...an old coast guard station and lighthouse are neat features.
- For Vashon restaurants:
+ Hardware store is a great, consistent restaurant with beautiful art adorning the walls. American food.
+ May's Kitchen is a Thai restaurant that's just as good as any you will find. Very popular place. Call to make a reservation.
+ Snap Dragon is a local favorite for breakfast, lunch, and dinner - it has vegan options.
+ Zamorana's is the best Mexican food by far. The owner was actually featured with Martha Stewart on the wall. Reasonably priced fresh food.
+ Thriftway has a very good salad, burrito, and hot food bars if you want to take your food to go.
+ Pure plant Kitchen and Organic Juicery - serves raw, organic, and glutton-free cuisine for the ultra-health-conscious.
+ Gravy is another winning dinner restaurant run by a noted chef. It can be popular...and not too many tables.
+ Cafe Luna is great for coffee, snacks, and WiFi.
+ Minglement is the old "Stewart Brothers Coffee" roasterie that became SBC (Seattle's Best Coffee). It's a quaint little place for many tea selections and locally roasted coffee. It also has organic grocery items, herbs, and supplements. They also have amazing ice cream! The building itself is a historical treasure. Sitting outside on the porch couldn't be a better way to pass the time and people-watch like in the good old days.
- For ice cream:
+ ZuZu's at Minglements is probably our favorite
+ Glass Bottle Creamery is right in the middle of town - the same side of the street as the Vashon Theatre
+ Thriftway has very good ice cream and drinks to go
- For water sports:
+ Jensen Point has a kayak/sup board rental shop that's part of the boathouse. Nice park area for lounging/eating at a picnic table.
