Overview

About the property

Trullo In The Countryside, On The Top Of The Hill With A Panoramic View

With panoramic views over the beautiful Puglian countryside, newly restored Trullo Isabella is the perfect location for a romantic holiday for honeymooners or two couples as its flexible sleeping can easily accommodate four people.

Although in a very rural peaceful location the trullo is between the two historic towns of Martina Franca, about 5km and fascinating Alberobello with its 1500 trulli clustered together, about 7km away.

The 300 year old trullo has been sympathetically restored to a very high standard. The main cone accommodates the living area which includes a fully equipped kitchen including a dishwasher, lounge area with sprung sofa bed and dining area with table and seating for four. A door leads onto the terrace.

In the smaller cone is the spacious bedroom which has a king size bed and ample storage. A door leads onto the terrace.

There is a shower room with toilet and wash hand basin which is accessible from both cones.

The property sits in two acres of grounds filled with wild flowers. This is surrounded by farmland dotted with trulli, many still not restored. There is a 5 meter pool overlooking the valley perfect for cooling off in the hot Italian summers, an excellent BBQ area with a outdoor gas burner. A dining table and chairs perfect for al fesco dining under a shady gazebo and sunbathing terrace with comfortable sun loungers and delightful rock garden all around. Trullo Isabella is the perfect place for relaxing and spending quality time with family and friends in a tranquil location.

The property is very well cared for by Chris & Alison who meet all guests on arrival in alberobello and accompany them to the property.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had never been to Trullo Isabella in December so we decided to go over the New Year period and experience the firework spectacle on New Years Eve. What we hadn't accounted for was the snow. Overnight we had over two foot, which turned the landscape into a winter wonderland. Everything looked so beautiful and with the sun out and a cloudless blue sky we spent many hours outside, making a snowman, snow angels, walking the lanes and having snowball fights. The Prosecco was literally on ice, we stuck the bottle in the snow!

Back indoors we were cosy and spent the evenings watching DVDs, listening to music and reading our books. On New Years Eve we ventured outside onto the terrace and witnessed the three local towns pyrotechnics. The sky was illuminated and the snow on the ground enhanced the celebrations. It certainly lived up to its reputation.

The area hadn't seen this amount of snow for 27 years, normally if it does snow it's a couple of inches and gone within a day or two. The day we returned home, 3rd January, the temperature went up to 16 degrees and we were tempted to have a bbq.

We sincerely hope that our 2015 guests enjoy their stay at Isabella as much as we just have.

A lovely trullo in a great location

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Trullo Isabella having enjoyed our stay so much the first time around. Trullo Isabella is in a fantastic location (in our opinion one of the best in the Valle d'Itria) being very peaceful and scenic, but still close (by car) to the towns of Martina Franca and Locorotondo for shops and meals out etc. We did a lot of sight-seeing on our first visit to Puglia so were happy this time around to simply 'stay put' during the day and make the most of the trullo, pool and surroundings which made for one of the most relaxing holidays we have ever had. Put simply we wholeheartedly recommend Trullo Isabella to anyone wishing to explore this lovely region of Southern Italy.

Charming Trullo in beautiful Puglia

  • 4 of 5

This is a beautiful property, very nicely furnished and extremely well equipped. There's lots of outside space, different areas to sit or use the sun loungers and lots of lovely garden areas with a separate BBQ area.

We enjoyed very much the open aspect, lovely pool and surrounding areas.

Things to be aware of, some previously mentioned:

The drive in and out of the property is not to be under estimated! Be aware when booking a hire car that you will be driving on very rocky, unmade terrain and we got lost, even with sat nav, map and a michelin app!

Insects - as previously mentioned, we also experienced wood lice and other insects entering the property night and early morning. We appreciate this is all part of country living, but, frustrating nevertheless.

Privacy - this property is not completely private due to the open aspect, with Trulli's above and below.

Cleanliness - overall, extremely clean, however we did have to wash dirty cutlery and pans. There's no excuse for this with a fully functioning dishwasher onsite and tablets and products supplied. No fault of the owners, more, previous occupants.

Overall, we had a lovely, relaxing week with amazing weather and wonderful restaurants and supermarkets and we very much hope anyone reading this understands that the points made above are to support an informed decision and enable a wonderful stay!

The Perfect get away.

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place. It was like a little corner of paradise. The trullo is in beautiful surroundings with amazing view. Inside it feels really homely and cool from the hot Italian sun. The property was very well maintained.... when we ran out of water at 9pm on the sunday night they managed to get the tankers up to the Trullo within a couple of hours.

If you want a relaxing holiday away from the hussle and bussle of everything this is the place to come to. Beautiful.

Trullo idyllic? Not quite..

  • 3 of 5

Minor irritations took the edge of a truly relaxed stay.

It was extremely hot during our stay (high 30's plus) and Trullo was not cool (no air con - probably okay when slightly cooler but not when this hot). Over the week nature invasions became an issue inside Trullo and in the pool (wood lice). Pool needed cleaning every day which I had to do myself. The water supply went off which I also had to fix myself under the guidance of the local handling agent. The track to the trullo is 'very' rough terrain which becomes a chore every time you go out by car.

Notwithstanding the gripes the Trullo is well appointed and the setting and views are hard to better, just spoilt by the above.

A heavenly get away!

  • 5 of 5

This precious country Trullo was everything we hoped it would be. After spending 10 days touring in Sicily and traveling 13 hours to get to Isabella, including a grocery haul in Locorotondo, and circuitous one lane roads to reach our destination, we were thrilled with the sight of this lovely historic home away from home. This well kept property is fully stocked and offers the privacy and peace we were looking for. Although there are many nearby historic towns with markets, shops and restaurants galore we were just as happy to sit on the lovely patio and read and occasionally look up to the amazing countryside dotted with Trullis and farms. We especially enjoyed shopping for our dinners and cooking and eating on the patio although we were wrapped in our sweaters most nights. One day we enjoyed watching the farmer next door bale his hay. Other days we took walks on the nearby goat tracks. It was warm enough one day to swim in the beautiful little pool. I will say, however, be prepared to be out in the country. Thankfully the house came supplied with a TOM TOM( old fashion GPS) that was already programmed with most of the destinations you would need. Believe me, we needed that and our own GPS app as well. Google Earth was also helpful on our walks.

All in all, a big thank you to Jan Hollingsbee and her sister the owner for their attentive concern about our wellbeing and for sharing their treasured home. Their love for this place was felt and appreciated.

Trullo scrumptious!

  • 5 of 5

Very impressive, love the location and private pool. Generous welcome pack to sample the local wares to get your holiday off to a great start. BBQ area well equipped for those warm evenings on the patio. Ideal for nature lovers, look out for the wild orchids in and around the garden and numerous birds around the area. Great base to explore the many interesting places to visit.
