|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Just a short walk from Baker Street Station you will find this cosy modern apartment. A perfect place from which to explore London's West End and visit all the sights and attractions.
This quiet street has no through traffic so you won't be disturbed at night, yet you have all of London on your doorstep. Madame Tussaud's and the Sherlock Holmes museum are just around the corner. Marble Arch and the famous shops on Oxford Street are just a 15 minute walk through the streets of the West End. Catch a bus or tube from Baker Street Station and before you know it you will be admiring Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. Take a stroll along the South Bank and visit the London Eye. The British Museum, the National Gallery on Trafalgar Square and Tate Modern are all within half an hour’s travel.
This is authentic London so try traditional London grub, get Fish and Chips at the Seashell or enjoy Sunday lunch at The Chapel, my favourite local pub with a fine selection of beers and a gourmet menu. All of these are just a few minutes away. A little further along explore the intriguing metropolis London has become. Edgware Road, with it's delicious Middle Eastern restaurants. Crawford Street has splendid Thai and Indian curry houses. Baker Street has many restaurants, from Pizza and Pasta to Mexican and Japanese.
Rustle up a quick breakfast or dinner in the kitchen, fully equipped with gas hob, microwave combination oven and a fridge freezer. Both Tesco and Marks & Spencer supermarkets are less than 5 minutes away and they are open late, so grocery shopping is quick and easy. Eating in can be fun too and helps balance the budget! Don't want to cook? Just order a takeaway for delivery within the hour.
There is free unlimited WiFi so you can connect your phone or computer to the internet, or use the classic iMac which is in the living room. Check the latest bargains or current exhibitions London has to offer or connect with the folks back home. Once you have seen the major sights, why not take time to explore the area and find your own London. Stroll down Marylebone High Street with its wonderful shops or visit the fascinating Wallace Collection on Manchester Square.
Check out some television on the 32' flat screen TV or watch a movie on the Blu-Ray player, which also has Netflix, YouTube and the BBC iPlayer. There is a collection of DVD's and Blu-Rays including some classic Sherlock Holmes movies. Or relax with a good book.
If you have an iPhone or iPad I recommend the City Mapper app for getting around London and the Table Pouncer app for finding a table at a restaurant with a huge discount!
Constant hot running water is available for a long bath to relax or a refreshing shower: the choice is yours. Fluffy towels give you that luxurious feel. If you are staying a bit longer, feel free to use the efficient Hotpoint washer dryer. The 30 degree time saving wash gets things done in just over an hour. Clothes airer, Ironing board and Iron are provided as well as a hair-dryer. There is also a first aid kit in the kitchen for those little emergencies.
I think it's got all you need for a comfortable stay in London. Try it for yourself and let me know if you think the same!
This was my first flat when I was working as an editor in the West End, I bought it because I didn't like the idea of commuting in every day and I'm so glad I did.
The area is lovely with easy access to the West End but with the tranquillity of Regents Park and so many great shops and restaurants.
Neil Roberts purchased this apartment in 1985
The apartment is close to the bustling heart of London but in a quiet street with no traffic. Ideally located for travelling by underground from Baker Street, train from Marylebone and even by air from Heathrow which is only half an hour away on the Heathrow Express from Paddington.
Location, Location, Location! This flat is so centrally located but in a quiet street within easy walking distance of Regents Park, Baker Street, St Johns Wood and Edgware Road. Oxford Street, Piccadilly Circus and London's Theatreland are just a few minutes away by bus or tube as are all of the tourist attractions like Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, the Houses of Parliament and the London a Eye on the South Bank.
Absolutely perfect. From first contact Neil was wonderful to deal with, an honest and forthright person. The apartment was exactly as photographed and as expected (in fact slightly larger than expected). We were travelling with a baby and a preschooler and Neil was very encouraging about this from the start. The kitchen, laundry and bathtub made our travel with children pleasant, and the location was very convenient to busses and the tube. The Oyster cards were filled for us on arrival and we filled them up before leaving - just so convenient! The little touches in the apartment (Union Jack pillow cases, map of London tea towels, etc.) were just plain fun. We walked to and from both Paddington and Euston station, easy walks, and were in Regents Park (a 5 min walk away) almost every day. Deposit was returned promptly. Stay here - you will not regret it!
What a charming and quaint apartment! The location couldn't be any better. Just steps away from Baker and Marylebone stations as well as shops and restaurants. The amenities were nice and the manager was pleasant to work with. We enjoyed every minute of our stay in this lovely little flat. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to London. As a side note, the bed in the master bedroom is to die for comfortable! I've literally never slept better!
My wife and I spent 12 nights here and we're well satisfied. The location is as advertised, quite convenient, only a few tube stops from the Thames, and it was easy to get everywhere we wanted to go. The kitchen is well equipped for a traveler, and the local stores sell plenty of heat and eat if you want to dine in. The interior is charming. We used this flat as a base for my first trip to London and it was easy to get around, Marleybone station is small but Baker Street is very close and has four tube lines so getting around without a car was simple. The Oyster cards for the Tube made life really easy.
It IS a London flat, which means it seems small to us Seppos, but we were here to see London, not stay indoors. The neighborhood is pretty quiet, so if you want a lot of activity outside your immediate door, this might not be your first choice.
The amenities, towels, sheets were excellent, and everything worked, we had no need to ask for any help. We would be willing to stay here again. We appreciated the early check in on arrival.
My husband and I absolutely felt well taken care of by the owners. Such a cozy comfortable flat. The amenities were fabulous and the location was perfect. The bed was so comfortable! We highly recommend staying here.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and think the apartment would make a nice getaway for a smaller group, but needs a few updates to be a 5-star experience.
There were many positives. The location was convenient to Marylebone, tube stops, and there were grocery stores nearby. Neil and Deborah were quick to respond to emails, and were very accommodating in holding our luggage. The kitchen is nice and came stocked with basics like milk, juice and biscuits; it also had a laundry machine for longer stays. Likewise, the bathroom had plush towels, and included staples, as well as other handy items. And of course, we loved the Sherlock Holmes theme and enjoyed watching the DVDs available.
That said, we had a few negatives. The biggest is the flat is small and while it can sleep 4 people, it was tight. When the couch is being used as a bed, it takes up most of the living room and we couldn’t all fit around the eating table. We thought we’d have more room than a standard hotel, but we didn’t. The other was both kids had issues with how hard the sofa bed was to sleep on, as well as the bright light coming in at night through the old shutters because of a lamp post right out front. We had a similar problem with the sun waking us up early in the bedroom, so some sort of shade would be appreciated for the front. In addition, there were not many kid-friendly restaurants nearby so we had trouble finding dinner in the evenings. I’d recommend you eat before returning to the area. Finally, my wife was concerned about the safety of the neighbourhood given the big notice on the front door about recent burglaries there and to keep your doors locked. Not being from the area, we were a little concerned to be wandering after dark.
Finally, for the price the apartment could use a few updates. While the décor is awesome, the first impression isn’t. The carpets are stained and damaged, and the wood floor could use a professional scrubbing. Besides looks, the main bedroom was extremely dusty (which we believe was coming from the old carpet) and caused some allergy issues. The rest of the flat seemed fine. Finally, the bathroom had a few issues. First, the hot water is fiddly and it was and it was too easy to scald yourself. They really should update the taps with the kind that regulate the temperature. Plus the toilet seat was loose so wouldn’t stay up, and some of the caulking had mildew issues and needed replacing.
We could not have been more pleased with our choice. After months, literally, of research I settled on Neil's flat and was not at all disappointed. The location is GREAT!! Our daughter is attending Regents University and meeting her was a 3 minute walk. The flat is a 2 minute or 5 minute walk from Marylebone and Baker Street tubes and could not have made travel more easy. The flat fit our needs (family of three) and while small comparatively speaking, size was not an issue. We received immediate assistance when we had a few questions and all was resolved very quickly. My only "negative" would be the couch that converts into a bed. Our daughter who had to sleep on it said it was extremely uncomfortable. We semi-resolved the issue by taking all of the bedding and making a pile for her to sleep on and she used the blanket she traveled with as her cover. I would suggest a thick pad or mattress to lay across the couch. Everything else in the flat was great! Loved the welcome items which came in handy the next morning.
I would highly recommend this flat and hopefully when we return in two years to visit our second daughter when she studies at Regents the flat will be available for us to rent again. The listing was as described and the property is very well maintained and clean. The grocery store, coffee shops, and pubs nearby added to the ease of our stay and travels.
We enjoyed a week in Neil's extremely well furnished apartment in Marylebone. Location is excellent, convenient to 2 tube stations and easily walkable to major shopping of Oxford/Regent Streets. Street is very quiet with no noticeable traffic noise.
The apartment has everything you could possibly need to make your stay in London very pleasant. Initial stock of grocery items, toiletries, pre loaded Oyster cards, local travel guides, videos/dvds and great internet connection, even a set of hair straighteners!
Accommodation is fine for 2-3 with double bed in main bedroom and comfortable double sofa bed in sitting room.
Kitchen was very well stocked to allow cooking the occasional meal if required.
Neil is great to deal with, responsive to emails and welcoming on arrival.
I have no hesitation in recommending this apartment for anyone who is looking for a great London base for their next holidays
