Wake up looking at the surf crashing on the rocks of Andrew's Point! This large, comfortable home offers fabulous ocean views from three sides, and is the perfect place for a family gathering or quiet retreat. Close to all the amenities of Rockport, yet away from the crowds. Enjoy fishing for striped bass and bluefish on the rocks in front of the house, take a walk along Atlantic Path to Halibut Point State Park, watch from the second-floor wrap-around porch as the lobstermen pull traps, then enjoy a feast of the freshest lobsters from the local cooperative, located just a few minutes from the house. The house is your base for explorations of Cape Ann, with beaches, kayaking, whale watching and shopping among the many attractions.

Sample Guest Book entries: Couldn't have picked a better location to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary! Sunsets from the porch were spectacular! Really enjoyed the beauty & relaxing comfort of this lovely house. Thank you! Paul & Fran Carbone and Rumpole [the dog] Wakefield MA. Thank you for sharing this beautiful home & this special spot on the shore! On July 4th, we celebrated our parents' 50th wedding anniversary here. We had a wonderful time! Oh, the sunrise & sunsets were gorgeous! The fishing was great! Thank you. The Cangiano family, New Haven CT.

Your home is wonderful - the view breathtaking, I sure did take advantage of it from the porch. This week will fill some grey winter days with smiles and longing. Our family had a wonderful bonding time filled with joy & love, our surrounding just enhanced the above. Burt Family, Selingsgrove PA.

We had an awesome time - really hate to go home. You have a lovely place. Thanks for your hospitality! Laurence & Abbate families, Middletown

More sample guest book entries : What a wonderful week! We enjoyed the town of Rockport, the fishing, the lighthouses, the whale watch, the lobster cruise, a day trip to Salem & Boston, beach time, shopping, galleries & morning walks. The best part was sitting together for meals on the 2nd floor porch and soaking in the glorious blue visions that will forever remain in our fondest memories. Thank you for sharing your family paradise with us! Voorhees family, Ithaca NY.

Our family enjoyed your lovely home and appreciated all its fine appointments. We met here to restructure our family foundation and were successful due in part to the inspiration we absorbed from the glorious location of your home and the sense of peace it inspires. Thank you. Slavin family, Boston, NY, Michigan.

Votre maison est tout simplement adorable et el paysage aussi; nous étions trés bien et les lits trés confortable. L'été ça doit etre extraordinaire para ici! Merci beaucoup! Chantal, Quebec Canada.

Some more guest book entries : From the 1st time we sat on the 2nd floor porch we knew this vacation was going to be the relaxing haven we were dreaming of! How very sad we all are to have to leave this beautiful spot after only 1 week. We take with us many memories & vivid visions of waves lapping, seagulls chatting, lobstermen hoisting and whales playing. All winter we will dream of morning coffee on the porch! Thank you for such lovely hospitality - we were amazed how you thought of everything - it really was just like being home. We hope to have the honor of returning. The Brams dePerry clan, Doylestown PA.

Well, what can we say?! Your home & its views have stolen our hearts! We hardly left the house! My parents practically lived on the porch and observed the fishing and stars through a telescope. Biking around the neighborhood was beautiful. We did a whale watch & the beach only once-didn't need to go anywhere. Many, many thanks for opening your home. We will be back next Aug! Cheverette family, Northampton

Not The Paradise We Were Hoping For

  • 2 of 5

The view is amazing but there's a strange thing happening with this house and its windows. Namely, there aren't screens on a lot of them. There are window ACs in each room, so those windows can't be opened, obviously. Bugs and mosquitoes will soon invade the space if you open the windows without screens. Missing screens weren't an isolated occurrence. There’s one room on the second floor that only has one window and it’s occupied by an AC. There are two sets of French doors, both on the second floor, neither of which have working screens, which makes it impossible to keep those doors open. The lack of screens on these doors is especially unfortunate in the master bedroom, where it would have been great to sleep with them open at night. No such luck.

But the worst part of our stay was revealed when we drove up and realized the house directly across the street, about 15 yards away, was undergoing heavy-duty renovations. The project was very nearly a complete tear-down. The job site was empty when we arrived on Saturday, but we were concerned the work would start again on Monday.

We were right.

Starting on Monday and continuing until we left on Saturday, we were treated to very loud and consistent noise every day from the construction site. We had backhoes, cement mixers, trucks of all sizes and probably 6-10 guys working from 7:30 in the morning until 3:30 in the afternoon. It was LOUD. The first couple days featured demolition, then foundations were poured and general construction started. Our days were ruined.

The owner of the rental house hadn’t mentioned anything about construction before we arrived. We emailed him on Monday, not long after the work began, to express our disappointment about our vacation being so adversely affected. The owner responded, saying he was sorry and he had been assured by the people who owned the house in question that the construction wouldn’t start until after Labor Day. However, the owner didn’t take any action. He didn’t offer to call the neighbors to find out why things had changed and he didn’t make any offers/gestures to lessen our disappointment. A discount on our stay would have been wonderful, but even something small like flowers or a gift card to a neighborhood business would have been welcomed and appreciated. We didn’t even get a phone call from the owner so he could learn more about what was happening. It was tremendously disappointing. We won't stay there again.

A great vacation choice!

  • 5 of 5

Rented the house for a long weekend with 7 old college friends. The house was just perfect for us. For the most part, each of us had our own bedroom. And the porches, kitchen, living/dining room were perfect for hanging out and just talking for hours. The view and setting are spectacular. The rocks in front of the house on the water's edge are large and flat and provide their own sort of private "beach". The neighborhood is great for walks, and the town of Rockport fun for shopping, exploring & eating out. The one thing I would say on the (perhaps, for some) negative side is that the house is comfortable but not fancy. The kitchen and bathrooms are somewhat outdated, and the furnishings are not new. If you want a house that is recently renovated/decorated top to bottom, go elsewhere. It is, however, extremely well-maintained and clean. The owners are very responsive and accommodating.

Memorable Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

As one of the grandchildren said, "this is the best vacation house ever!" That is out of 11 annual get togethers! Our Yellowstone family vacation might compete, but this house and location were much more than we ever expected based on the web photos. We'll always fondly remember the spectacular ocean view and meals on the second floor porch, exploring the beautiful rocky coast, visits to Boston, Salem, Lexington and Concord, walks in the adjoining park, wonderful shopping in Rockport and Gloucester, and much more. Everything was so convenient. Even went to a Red Sox game! There was something for everyone from the youngest at age 8 to the oldest at age 70. The house was clean, comfortable, and the neighborhood was peaceful and friendly. We probably could have used one more bathroom with nine people but were aware before we rented there were 2-1/2 bathrooms so it was a minor inconvenience. The owners were very accommodating and gracious. We would all highly recommend this house to other families.

most enjoyable family vacation home

  • 5 of 5

My family were very happy to return to Andrew's Point overlooking the ocean. As we expected, the house and property were

well maintained and clean. The garden was in full bloom and the newly

laid patio was lovely. We all enjoyed the balcony from sunrise to fabulous sunets and ate our dinners every night there.. The activies were many - fishing from the rocks, bike riding, walking, the beach, strolling thru Rockport and Gloucester, as well as just enjoying the peace and tranquility of the ocean and the beautiful area. I would recommend this for a family vacation home whether you have teenagers or young children - there is something for everyone. The owners have always been cordial and accommodating.

Beautiful location but lacks beaches

  • 4 of 5

We just stayed in this very pretty and well maintained house in Rockport. The house is big and has decent bedrooms, but the living rooms are on the smaller size for a 6 bedroom house. The house is very nice, well equipped and the owner was great about checking in to see if everything was fine. The views are fantastic and it is fun to walk on the rocks. The only drawbacks are a small dining room table that can only seat 8 and that the beaches are not great, a significant drive, and are very crowded. If you don't care about swimming and have a party of 8 or less, this is a great house.

Owner's Response: We greatly appreciate the review, but want to clarify a couple of details. First, the guests did not make use of the dining table extension that is available and comfortably accommodates 10 adults. Second, in our guide we provide directions to several local beaches that are within 5-10 minutes drive of the house. I don't know which beaches the guests drove to, there certainly are large public beaches in the area which do get very crowded in the summer, but there are also alternatives for those "in the know".

In addition to relaxing on the porch, there are many activities to enjoy in the area at different times of the year. In the fall, enjoy the beautiful foliage and the clear air of Indian Summer. In the winter, avoid the crowds and do all your Christmas shopping in the unique shops and galleries of downtown Rockport. Very relaxing! Andrew's Point is also known as a birder's paradise. Hundreds of Harlequin Ducks winter on the rocks right in front of the house each year. In the summer, you can enjoy the many local beaches, rent a sea kayak, go on a whale watching cruise, fish from the rocks, take a bicycle tour around Cape Ann, visit the fine antique stores in Rockport and Essex, and sample some of the best seafood anywhere in the local restaurants. We provide a vacationer's guide book with updated information about many local activities. We are looking forward to your visit and will do everything possible to make your stay a memorable one.
