Here is the perfect budget apartment, right in the centre of London, offering a high standard of comfort in an attractive interior, but for an affordable price. It's on the direct Tube train line from Heathrow, so is ideal for many tourists. If you are looking for an interesting place to stay in London, which has character and comfort, and which is extremely well equipped, then this is for you. It offers excellent value for money for large families and groups who want to be really central. It is just around the corner from the British Museum, and within easy walking distance of London's tourist sites, such as Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, Theatreland and the London Eye..

The apartment is our London home, but we clear it of all our things and rent it when we don't need it

It oozes with history and character. It is located in one of London's historic, cobbled 'mews' streets, where the horse-drawn carriages of the wealthy Bloomsbury intellectuals would draw up. Charles Dickens lived just around the corner.

The mews still has the original cobblestones while the properties along its length are built from the mellow London brick, characteristic of the 1800's. You can easily imagine yourself living in a wealthy neighbourhood from a Dickens novel. Not surprisingly these houses and flats are now highly desirable residences, with potted plants on the cobbles outside the doors and pretty flowering window-boxes in the summer. Our apartment is on the first floor ( one floor up from the ground floor) of one of these very attractive 200-year-old buildings. Because this is a mews, there is no through-traffic, so our apartment is relatively peaceful and quiet for a residence in the very centre of London.

The interior has been furnished to a high specification We have a beautiful original oak floor throughout, with attractive beds, high quality mattresses, and lovely furnishings and bedding. Our traditional sash windows (typical of London) let in loads of light and add to the character of the apartment. Although they are not new, there are two adequate bathrooms (with showers) and again, although it's not new, there is a functional and well equipped kitchen.

Best of all, our apartment is just two minutes away (really) from the nearest Tube station - and that's on the direct Tube line from Heathrow. So if you are arriving at Heathrow you can quickly reach your accommodation without having to change trains or heave your luggage around. A real bonus!

The apartment is also very convenient for arrivals at St Pancras train station. Our local Tube station is just one stop away from St Pancras (for the Eurostar trains to/from Europe or the Thameslink trains to/from Gatwick and Luton airports), or it's a very easy walk from St Pancras to the apartment down a straight road.

Bloomsbury is also the perfect central area from which to explore London. Please do Google it. You can easily walk to so many tourist sights, and because the Tube station is so close it's really convenient. Our apartment is particularly close to Covent Garden (for the shops and restaurants) and to Theatreland if you fancy a London show. The British Museum is just a short walk. Nowhere is far away, so even if you take a taxi back it will be a short journey and therefore it will not be expensive.

The apartment has three full-size double bedrooms, and the beds have high-quality mattresses, comforters and linens so that you really feel you're staying in a good hotel. There is a double bed, a king-size bed (US=queen) and a super-king-size bed (US= kingsize). Alternatively we can arrange one of the bedrooms to have two single beds. There are also two folding beds, each suitable for a child or very small adult (less than 10 stones / 140 pounds / 63 kilos), so we can accommodate a group of eight. The three bedrooms are very similar in size, space and attractiveness, so no one will feel they have 'pulled the short straw' !

The shower rooms each have a shower cubicle, sink, mirrored toiletries cupboard and WC. We provide clothes airers (to use with the washing machine) and we will give you plenty of soft egyptian cotton towels,

There is a spacious sitting room with coffee table, dining table big enough for 8, satellite TV, and superfast wifi which is free.

The kitchen is just off the sitting room, offering all you would need for self-catering.... a hob, oven, microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine, toaster and kettle. We have provided lovely glassware and attractive white crockery.

The flat is well heated with gas central heating.

The character of the accommodation is really highlighted by the lovely old oak flooring throughout, which gives a warm homely feel.

The apartment is on the first floor. Please note, in the UK this means it is one level up from the ground floor. It has its own front door at street level, leading to stairs (about 12) up to the first floor, and then another door into the sitting room, making it very safe. The whole apartment is on the same level.

Best of all the location of the apartment is hard to beat. It really is right in the heart of the centre of London, so you can walk to most of the places you'll want to visit, and you are surrounded by an area filled with interesting cafe's and restaurants.

The other big difference between our apartment and many others are the personal touches we offer. We are not a rental company, just an English couple who adore London and enjoy introducing others to all it has to offer. We have lovingly furnished and decorated the apartment to this very high standard because we really want our guests to have a fantastic time - happy guests mean more to us than high profits. So unlike some apartments, you will not find cheap beds, cheap mattresses, hard pillows...or any of the other horrors you can find with the squeeze-every-penny-of-profit apartment rental companies. We pride ourselves on giving a very friendly, helpful and professional service. We want you to feel you made exactly the right choice!

Overall we are happy to offer you a super three-bedroom budget apartment in a fantastic location, at a very fair price, which is ideal for visitors to London who want to be able to walk to most of the tourist sights and activities. We hope it will give you plenty of fond memories of London to take home.

Hello. I'm really pleased you like the look of my apartment enough to want to know about the owner. Until recently, I have had a really busy life as the MD of a research company, but now I just do occasional research projects.

I have always been a bit pernickety about detail. At home I'm one of those people who arranges the glassware in neat rows, shines the cooker every time it has been used, and has to place the cushions in exactly the right place on the sofa - you know the sort! So I think I'm quite well qualified to run a rental like this.

My philosophy is not to squeeze every last drop of profit out of renting my apartment, but rather to get satisfaction from seeing people arrive and like what they see, and then at the end to hear how comfortable they have been and what a great time they've had. That is so much more pleasurable than a few extra pounds in the bank.

So I do hope I get the chance to meet you...

When we were choosing a London base we looked at loads of properties in London before we saw this one, but the minute we stepped inside we knew this was absolutely right. It's bright and airy, really well laid out, with loads of space. Above all, it has a lovely feeling of character and cosiness.

What makes this apartment unique

* it's truly right in the centre of London, near to just about everything

* The Tube station is right around the corner, no more than a 2 minute walk

* It's on the Piccadilly line, so you can travel in directly from Heathrow, without any changes, and be at the apartment very quickly

* It's in a quiet cobbled mews with a real historic feel

* There is a shopping centre round the corner, with two good supermarkets plus lots of cafe's and restaurants

* London's best restaurant districts - Lambs Conduit St and Covent Garden - are really close

* Theatreland is really close

* It has good bedrooms of roughly equal size, so no one pulls the 'short straw'

We had to get this at the last minute and owner was super accommodating! We had two singles and a couple...great to have both bathrooms, close to Russell tube, walking to British museum...easy from Heathrow and Gatwick airports..comfortable (two of the beds were firm but we stayed back room which was perfect) pub down the street, quiet at the apt.. Didnt cook much but always nice to have a refrigerator and microwave! Husband cooked breakfast one day. Would recommend

Our experience at Jan's property in London was one of the best we ever had in a London visit!

The property was exactly as described in the overview we received.

It could not have been a better location in central London. Russell Square has always been a terrific area for so many reasons--sights to see, shopping, theater, fine restaurants, friendly pubs, etc. Also, this properly is so close to the Underground that getting around London was very easy even for those in our party who had never been to the city before.

The apartment was large--especially the bedrooms and full baths. It was very clean and well maintained. It also included everything anyone would need in terms of comfortable beds, well appointed furniture, fine linens and towels, china, flatware, glassware, stove, oven--literally everything. It was just as if we we in our own home.

We would definitely recommend this property to anyone traveling in London. As we already mentioned to the owner, we look forward to staying there during any future stays in London.

Fantastic Fully Furnished Feelgood Flat

I visited London from the US at the end of August with my two 20-something sons. This flat was perfect for the three of us. It had three comfortable bedrooms and two bathrooms. There is no street traffic and the sleeping was good, so important when travelling across the Atlantic. The accomodations were exactly what we needed. Comfortable common space, functional fully stocked kitchen, good wifi and central location.

The Russell Square tube/underground station was very close, allowing easy access to any part of London. Buy an Oyster Card to save significant money when travelling by subway. When flying out of Heathrow, the five-pound cost of the Oyster card is readily and easily refundable at the Heathrow station along with refunding any unused balances on the card. The three pound cost to get to Heathrow and the ease of taking the Piccadilly line from Russell Square to Heathrow is awesome.

We took advantage of stove and oven to prepare food on nights we didn't eat at a restaurant. The Waitrose grocery store was conveniently close by allowing us to stock up daily as needed. It has a nice selection of tasty fish, chicken and beef entrees that can be popped into the oven and fully cooked in 35 mintues or less with no preparation or clean-up required.

Bathrooms were clean and fully functional with a full complement of towels and washcloths.

The Freind at Hand pub at the end of the street is convenient and friendly. The nearby The Marquis Cornwallis pub is a bit more lively.

The cable television works well though we used it very little.

From this location we were able to visit every part of London that was of interest. Only a short walk to the British Museum. We walked to the theatres (Matilda and Beautiful - Carole King were great) and used the subway to easily get to other tourist destinations, from Buckingham Palace to Trafalgar Square to the Tower of London. We also enjoyed the London Eye, Tate Modern, National Gallery, St. Paul's, Westminister Abbey (closes early on Saturday) and the National Portrait Gallery.

Overall this is a fantastic value and far superior in every way to staying in a hotel. If I return to London with my family in the future, I would re-book this flat without hesitation. Thanks, Jan for being an outstanding hostess and maintaining a superior flat in Bloomsbury. I would recommend this flat to any of my friends or relatives. Cheers

Great flat, great location!

This charming flat on a quiet cobbled street suited us perfectly. Jan was very welcoming and offered great tips for nearby dining opportunities (we loved Ciao Bella, by the way). The central location puts all of London at your feet; the Tube stop only a heartbeat away. If you want to explore the immediate neighborhood, the British Museum is a pleasant short walk from the flat. After long days of sightseeing, we would settle into the comfortable living room to watch the Olympics on the flat screen TV. The bedrooms are spacious, each with a large wardrobe and a mirror. The flat is well-light by several windows which open to let in the cool evening air. All in all, a great place to stay!

Family-friendly and great location

This unit had everything we needed. Plenty of room for a family of five with three young kids. Clean, quiet and tastefully decorated. The unit has a washing machine for laundry and two bathrooms (a big plus). The location is so central. Russell Square tube stop is literally around the corner, with easy connections to all the sites and on the same line as Covent Gardens and Heathrow. Also, there are several grocery store options nearby making it easy to stock the kitchen for your stay. Jan was easy to work with. We appreciated her flexibility when we changed our arrival time and was quick to respond to our emails. We would gladly stay here again.

Our apartment is perfectly located in Bloomsbury, right in the very heart of the centre of London, so most of the sights can be reached on foot. The British Museum is just up the road, and all around you have interesting shops, cafes and restaurants ideal for a tourist visit.

This area is London at its best, with beautiful Georgian houses often arranged around a central square of garden. Some of these gardens are exquisitely planted with flower borders, trees and lawns...and best of all they are open and free to visitors.

Bloomsbury is right next to Covent Garden, Theatreland and the shopping district around Oxford Street. Hence some of the capitals most exclusive boutique hotels are to be found here.

Here are some of the places you might want to visit, with the time it will take you to walk to them...(we have walked most of these ourselves to check they are accurate) Of course, you could also take a Tube or a taxi, but by giving you the walking times you can see we are genuinely right in the middle of London....
