About Eileen McIntyre

Keith & I live in the beautiful Scottish Borders, just 40 minutes from our home City of Edinburgh & where our children & grandchildren live. We are fortunate also to have a home which we rent out on the equally beautiful island of Corfu.

We take tremendous pride in our villa and to ensure you have the best of service we are supported by a wonderful team in Corfu who do key handovers, cleaning, maintenance, recommending places to visit/dine and assist with anything else which may crop up.

After deciding on Corfu for our second home we ‘found’ Arillas & instantly fell in love with our plot of land, we knew immediately it was perfect for us & our family.

We pride ourselves in that building a rental villa we were ‘pioneers’ in our area of Corfu. Our instincts proved correct & verified by our happy returning guests

Eileen McIntyre purchased this villa in 2004

Why Eileen McIntyre chose Peloponnese, West Greece and Ionian Sea

Corfu for us is the ideal location to own a holiday home in that it allows us to drive there as well as using one of the many flights available from the UK. It’s a good drive from the UK, enjoyable and fairly straightforward. If you like the idea of driving to Corfu please feel free to ask for details.

Corfu has everything we love about Greece. Friendly locals, great food, local wine, verdant hills & valleys, hidden beaches, turquoise seas, ancient villages & the sense of adventure when discovering somewhere new, even after too numerous visits to count!

As a family, we love Arillas on the North West of Corfu for it’s rugged beauty, the stunning sunsets and scenery, it’s unpretentious and last but not least... the welcoming locals who live there and give it soul ~ as opposed to being just another holiday resort.

What makes this villa unique

Villa Linakis is close enough to the facilities of Arillas & its Blue Flag beach to be walk-able, yet far enough to enjoy peace, privacy & tranquility of it's unique location.

It's the simple pleasures that matter:

• Ten minute wall to the local bakers & mini-market. Fresh bread and croissants-what a great start to the day!

• Take a table at a seafront restaurant, sit back, relax & appreciate the elemental beauty of a unique & ever-changing seascape.

• At the villa make a ritual of enjoying a 'sundowner' whilst watching the birds swoop to get their last feed of the day & the bats their first.

We set out to create a property with a nod to it's Greek origins, thus we take it is a huge compliment & endorsement to hear our guests say Villa Linakis has "a true sense of a place".

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have been visiting arillas twice yearly since 2002, staying at variouse Hotels and apartments and from the time the villa was completed I looked on enviously hoping we could eventually Stay there. So last year we decided to book it with some friends..By Far the best Villa accomodation we have ever experienced..situated up a steepish narrow road in a quiet location at the rear of the village.Everything you could possibly want is provided for.All the rooms are tastefully decorated with the bedrooms on the ground floor(Air con) and a large Kitchen diner + lounge area upstairs..The pool area is amazing with the recent addition of an outside bar complete with electrics and fridge this is where most of our time was spent..Sunloungers and towels all provided..

I could spend an age describing all the facilities available..but nothing is left wanting...A big thanks to Eileen, Niel & Wendy and the chap who calls to clean the pool...Home from home...

Perfection

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous time at this gorgeous villa at the end of May. It is truly a home from home. Our 2 year old grandson loved the toys that were there as we couldn't take his toys with us. The little bike was great for him and he spent lots of time riding round the pool. The position of the villa is great. Far enough away from anyone else with a lovely walk down to the beach. The hill back up to the villa was just enough to walk off all the delicous food we ate in the village. Everything has been carefully thought about and provided. A great place to relax and hopefully we will be able to do it all again soon.

Great villa and holiday

  • 5 of 5

Nice big pool and the area around the pool is lovely. Lots of places to sit and relax whether your preference is sun or shade at all times of the day. Fantastic views from the various balconies. The villa was very clean when we arrived, it is really well equipped and the furnishings are comfortable and in keeping with the feel of the villa. Great barbecue and pool bar! The villa is not overlooked and a short walk from the town centre of Arillas. Local beaches are great and the best is Arillas beach. Lots of useful information in the villa and the owners were helpful and easily contactable and very keen to ensure that we had a good holiday. Would definitely recommend and hope to visit again.

Just what we wanted

  • 5 of 5

So pleased we came to stay at Villa Linakis. The location, the grounds and the villa itself was just what we were looking for and even surpassed out expectations of what it would be like. The property was beautifully clean and had everything in the way of facilities to make your stay comfortable, relaxing and entertaining. Kitchens and accoutrements were especially appreciated, along with the welcome box to make your initial 'landing' as smooth and easy as possible. The outside pool area is so pleasant that's it's hard to find a reason to visit Arillas itself, although if you do I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Really, this was a great place and ticks all the boxes as far as I'm concerned. Thank you for a lovely holiday

Relaxed, Stylish and can't wait to return!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived to an exceptionally warm welcome from Eileen and Keith who welcomed us to the immaculate villa. Every detail is well catered for, from the exceptionally stylish and well presented rooms, to the amazing private pool with sun loungers, hammock and pool bar.

We felt immediately at home and ready to explore the local area. Arillas has a beautiful quiet beach with a few beach side bars and Tavernas which cater for the locals and tourists alike. The service in the tavernas and bars was exceptional and made you feel very welcome. We were joined on the second week by family with a little toddler; The villa being private and secure provided a relaxed holiday for the parents and was well equipped with pushchairs, baby monitors and cot/high chair and everything else to keep the little one entertained!

Many Thanks to Eileen and Keith for a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable holiday.. We will be back!

A lovely villa in a beautiful peaceful location

  • 5 of 5

A lovely villa in a beautiful peaceful location, beautifully finished and clearly loved by its owners! Lots of features that are (now I've realised) missing from other villas - loads of different seating areas allowing for a get-together or for a bit of solitude, plenty of storage for your things, a well equipped kitchen with a generous welcome pack, excellent local support/management, good size pool and a pool bar allowing for outdoor catering/drinks and loads of personalised local info about the area. Arillas is a small friendly town, with plenty of tavernas and local shops. We really enjoyed our holiday and would love to come back.

Owner's Response: Dear Erica and Family, Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a glowing review. So glad to hear you enjoyed the many seating areas around the villa, it's important for everyone, especially parents, to enjoy a little 'me time'. We have plans for more features next year, including a large new traditional Greek bbq which will enhance the outdoor dining experience. We would love to have you stay again, there are still many tavernas to try! Eileen and Keith.

Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here as a group of 4 adults and 2 children under 4 and I can't recommend it enough. From the booking process onwards, Eileen goes out of her way to help with your holiday plans and once there, Wendy and Neil were equally as helpful. The house itself is beautifully decorated and has every facility you could want or need (the toys went down a treat with my two boys, particularly as I could bring limited ones on the plane!). The views are amazing, it's incredibly peaceful and the swimming pool is a great size, with the pool bar an added bonus. It's a leisurely 15 minute stroll into Arillas which was very relaxed and 10 minutes to the lovely bakery. I literally can't think of anything else we could have needed and would love to return as I'm not sure how anywhere else will live up to it!

The Ionian Islands region

Corfu 'The Gem of the Ionian'...Corfu is the northernmost and second largest of the Ionian Islands, considered by many to be the True Gem of the Ionian.

Corfu's Mediterranean summers and mild winters with relative rainfall ensure a lush fertile landscape predominated with olive trees and luxuriant flora. Cypress trees, groves of oranges, lemons, fig trees and grapes also grow in abundance in this westernmost part of Greece. Catering for all tastes Corfu is fringed by sandy beaches and shingle coves yet visitors are never far from traditional inland villages untouched by tourism.

The Corfu / Arillas area

Arillas in north west Corfu is renowned for its beauty, friendliness and honesty of its villagers.

Facing the Ionian Sea, Arillas sits at the bottom of a valley with a backdrop of hills; snuggly nestled in between the headlands of Agios Stephanos to the north and Agios Georgios to the south. Arillas beach for the past 10 years has been awarded the coveted 'Blue Flag' by the European Community for its cleanness and for water quality.

Gently shelving it is ideal for children. Lazy days can be spent on the soft sand beach where sun beds/parasols are available for hire, whilst water sports are available for the more energetic

Lining the beach you will find a variety of locally owned tavernas providing refreshments and delicious homemade Corfiot food, an ideal location for people watching and cooling of after a long morning on the beach!

Entertainment.

Evenings are centred on the many tavernas and restaurants, a surprising number for a resort of this size! The north west of Corfu is renowned for its sunsets. Take a table in a seafront restaurant, watch the sun going down over the sea behind the Diapontia islands of Erikousa, Mathraki and Othoni.
