Welcome to Silver Shells St. Croix 305.
From our first venture to Destin we knew we wanted to be in this great resort. So we found just the right condo. A low floor with a great view of the gulf and the resort property and its huge pool. Then we went to work and upgraded everything in it. New kitchen, new living room, new bedroom furnishings, virtually everything is brand new. And designed to be the framework of a great beach vacation. You’ll find that our luxury condo is open, spacious and welcoming. You’ll notice that we’ve created an environment that will make you feel like you’re at home, even though you’re at the beach. It’s the perfect backdrop for the breathtaking views of the Gulf you’ll see through the sliding glass doors that open to the balcony. Just like us, you'll want to spend lots of time here because of the wonderful views of the beach and gulf. Whenever we come down we bring along binoculars so we can enjoy the dolphins while having our morning coffee out here. And make sure you take time like we do to enjoy the breathtaking sunsets that are the perfect end to an exciting day - - - or the beginning of an enchanting evening. We stayed at this location and it was absolutely incredible. Direct beach access coupled with amazing views of the deep blue gulf. There were plenty of amenities located near by to keep us busy (Indian Bayou Golf Course is great!). Furthermore amenities were luxurious with fully tiled bathrooms and a walk-in shower large enough to accommodate NFL players. We loved our stay and we'll be back! One last thing is the professional management. My group had some issues getting to Destin on time however the management company took care of us regardless and made sure we were good to check in.
On arrival we found the condo dirty. One screen door was lying on the balcony in pieces, One patio chair was broken. No screen doors were installed on the other doors. There were electric wires connected under the floor in the living room that were exposed and sticking out, as the plastic cover was broken. This is definitely a dangerous hazard.
We did not have Wi-Fi for 2 days, the kitchen pans were burned, dirty and not usable. We
had to wash the blankets in both bedrooms before using them as they were stained and dirty. We then found out that the dryer was overheating, again creating a dangerous situation. The Manager of the St Croix came up, sized the situation and said it was unacceptable. He cleaned the dryer (which is not his job) and filled a large bag full of lint. He also took the broken screen door away. We then called the rental agency and told them what we found. Two days later, they brought us new pans, installed a new modem for the Wi-Fi and sent someone to clean the balcony and the windows and remove the broken patio chair. They NEVER fixed the wires on the floor.
There is no phone in the condo for local calls which is not safe in case of an emergency if cell phones do not work.
The condo is advertised as "luxurious". It is not. The furniture is old and in need of a good cleaning. The carpets and area rugs are filthy. We paid good money during a slow time of the year for Destin, expecting what was advertised. We were sorely disappointed.
By the way, the bunk beds do not have TVs, as mentioned in the condo description.
On the good side, The St. Croix Resort is absolutely beautiful, clean, very well located and the manager and staff very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. The condo itself is well laid out and could be wonderful if it was well maintained. It is too bad it is not reflecting the high standard of the St. Croix.
This was our 3rd time in Destin. We will return, just not in that particular condo.
