Notes:
~Local Points of Interest~ The Shenandoah National Park & Skyline Drive are, without a doubt, the best way to take in the most amazing views of our beautiful valley from the comfort of your own vehicle. But it's also a hikers dream with miles of trails for beginners & longtime trekkers. Then, there's a totally different perspective from the Shenandoah River that runs throughout the entire valley. Like many of our former guests you can float lazily downstream or take a more active approach by canoe or kayak. More of a history buff? This area is so rich in Civil War & Native American history you can spend the entire day wandering through battlefields & museums. For those with an interest in adventure & geology there's Luray Caverns which is located less than fifteen minutes from the cabin. It's the largest caverns in the eastern U.S. not to mention the third largest in the country making it a "must see spot" while so close. Lake Arrowhead, in nearby Luray, has plenty of covered pavilion

A Real Mountain Experience

  • 5 of 5

We loved our weekend getaway. The cabin is cozy and super comfortable. Amazing views and we were excited for the light snow shower. If you plan on cooking a lot, I suggest bringing a few of your own pans, there are some but not the best, but we still got by =) And there is only one large working burner on the stove. Other than that, the cabin was great and we would definitely go back and we thank you for letting us stay!

A few things to be aware of but have no reason to take away from the wonderful cabin rating:

- the dirt/gravel road up is horrendous, this is not the owners fault, but sweet mother of pearl come in a vehicle with giant tires, the potholes and rocks are insane. The speed limit sign says 15 mph, we felt 5 mph was too much for those conditions.

- you have to take your own trash down the mountain to the local waste site, this is fine and all but not if you are leaving on Sunday, the facilities are closed so you are driving around with bags of garbage in your car. It would be an added bonus if the owners took care of that task for you... but we got by.

Perfect weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our group had a wonderful stay at this Rileyville cabin. The views were spectacular and the hot tub was relaxing! The kitchen had everything you would need. The driveway up is definitely steep and rocky so recommend a 4 wheel drive. There is food and wineries within a 15 minute drive. The owner was quick to respond and very helpful. Definitely recommend this cabin for your next mountain getaway!

Cabin was very nice and cozy

  • 3 of 5

The Cabin was nice and secluded. Felt like home. The driveway and road up to cabin should be addressed. Pot holes and large rocks that you need to dodge all the way up and then the driveway is on a very steep incline and not paved. Once, at the cabin it was very nice. I was a little put out with the extra cost per person over 4. I have rented many homes through Homeaway and never was charged more when the home sleeps a certain number. I think the house is worth the base rate but not for the additional people.

Great cabin trip!

  • 5 of 5

Great “cabin” experience for our 6 1/2 member family. Lots of space for lounging, sleeping, eating, Cooking, hanging by the campfire after a dip in the hot tub 😁. King size beds were great too. Best feature is the massive mountain view and plenty of night sky for viewing all the stars missing in the city. Rustic road entrance so our rental SUV was required. Bring your sheets and towels!

Well equipped cabin with a beautiful view

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at the cabin for a guy's weekend in the fall, hiking and golf. Grilling on the porch and watching the sunset over the blue ridge was absolute perfection. Never seen so many stars, soaked it all in from the hot tub. Perched on the mountain-side with a gorgeous view of the valley; we watched the steam rise off of a bend in the Shenandoah as it cooled down in the evening. The cabin feels remote, no other homes in view and it's very cozy. Very clean, big comfy beds, big comfy couch and a well-equipped kitchen. It was a little warm for the wood-burning stove, but we did light up the fire pit and enjoyed s'mores. Great time had by all, highly recommend.

Lake Arrowhead, in nearby Luray, has plenty of covered pavilions, playgrounds & great fishing spots but it's best known for it's mirror-like lake. The surrounding mountains reflect perfectly on the water.

Spend a couple hours browsing through antique shops & flea markets. Sample merlot at one of the wineries in our area. Go horseback riding at a nearby stable. Listen to live music & local gossip at a neighborhood bar.

Needless to say, the Shenandoah Valley is full of surprises, history & adventure!
