Quiet and relaxing retreat. Steps from the water beautiful sunsets
We came for a spring beach getaway and it was just what we needed! Great location, on the beach (bay area) and close to town. Bedrooms were uniquely set up, definitely felt the 'cottage' feel, which was nice. Layout downstairs was pretty open and the views from the front were great. Owner was very responsive and helpful as well! Would definitely recommend!
We already knew we loved Newburyport but totally loved coming home to this peaceful spot at the end of each day. Absolutely satisfied and looking forward to the next time!!
This was our second stay at The Arctic Cottage (April 2017 and October 2017) and we just love this cottage and it's location so.
The cottage itself is so comfortable and thoughtfully appointed with a lot of seating areas, fully applianced and kitchen gadgets galore. The beds are very comfortable and linens plenty and high quality.
The location is spectacular and even on cooler/rainy days was wonderful. Private beach out the front door and the large, public beach with a sweet little playground a quick walk away. We loved catching stripers (no keepers maybe next time) off the beach and sitting by the cozy gas fireplace to warm up. The sunsets visible from the living room are breathtaking. The Arctic Cottage is a very interesting antique cottage outfitted/updated with everything we needed to relax, play, cook and enjoy quiet family time. We can not wait to return. * the folks at the convenience store Plum Island Provisions were so nice and the people at Surfland Tackle Shop were so helpful to our beginning fisherman; all 6 times we visited for more bait. We love Plum Island and The Arctic Cottage! Thank you Tom!
Family Time at the Beach
My family came to town from SC to celebrate my birthday and I thought what could be better than staying at the beach!! The cottage was spick and span and has an authentic Plumb Island feel. We unfortunately had cold rainy weather but even in the gray the view was beautiful. It is a perfect location and we would love to come back in the warmer weather!!
An amazing, peaceful and perfect beach house
House is right on the beach, wrap around porch, with deck chairs and beach chairs provided. Overall, a very relaxing stay. All of the bedrooms are on the second floor. The walls don't go up all of the way in between bedrooms - FYI. Stairs to the upstairs are very steep but there are railings on each side. I went in April and even with the weather being cold/rainy and in the 40s on one of the days, it was still a great place to relax. Owner was very responsive and even helped me find the house when I arrived. All linens and towels are provided, there is a washer dryer and plenty of couches/seating. Would visit again and hope to, soon! There are a few local spots within a mile - convenient store that sells coffee, prepared food, beer/wine and a few restaurants. Newburyport is about 5 miles away.
