About Renee and Chris
Chris and I have three children who keep us busy, along with managing our ranch, horses, dogs and cat. We are excited to open The Casita to guests and to share our ranch experience in Central Oregon. I grew up in British Columbia and Chris grew up in St. Louis. We met as attorneys working for the same international law firm, and spent several years living abroad and traveling before returning to the U.S. and starting our family. We have three children, ages 15, 12 and 11. They keep us super busy but we have a lot of fun riding horses, skiing, hiking, swimming in Central Oregon's lakes and rivers and traveling.
Renee and Chris purchased this House in 2011
Why Renee and Chris chose Bend
We loved the quiet country setting of Wagon Wheel Ranch, but also enjoy the proximity to Bend and all that Central Oregon has to offer. We purchased the ranch as a vacation home and then moved from the East Coast about 5 years ago with our children. We are thrilled with our decision.
What makes this House unique
You will fall in love with the cozy and quiet setting of The Casita, which sits in the middle of Juniper and sage, overlooking green pasturelands. On Wagon Wheel Ranch in addition to our horses you will see lots of wildlife: deer, rabbits, lizards, and multiple bird species such as red-tailed hawks, Golden and Bald Eagles, house finches, chickadees, ducks, geese, Stellar Jays, Mountain bluebirds and more,. You may hear the howling of coyotes or the hooting of our resident Great Horned Owls at night, so leave the windows open if you can!

Great place to stay!
Cozy and clean, and the view was beautiful. Would recommend highly.
Beautiful location, close to town and yet out in the countryside with NO traffic noise. Very friendly and helpful owners. Everything was spotlessly clean and delightfully furnished. Anything you could possibly need is supplied. Be prepared to be entertained for hours by the activity outside off the back patio. First come all the small birds flitting from one feeder to the next, then the wood pigeons and larger birds, followed by at least 20-30 quail who dig around under the tree to get all the seeds the other birds have managed to spill. While all this is going on the chipmunks are scurrying back and forth gathering seeds and chasing each other around like naughty children. I loved every minute of it.
Renee informed us that their window washers would be arriving at the casita and to just leave front door unlocked so they could come in. We left for the day and when we returned our (2) plug-ins/adapters for our iPads were missing. They were there when we left, gone when we returned. Owners did replace them but did not feel comfortable after that. Casita was cute and in nice setting but felt owner was negligent by not being in casita property with all of our belongings when window washers were there.
Dear Stephanie, This was indeed an unfortunate incident, and we have certainly learned as hosts from this situation. We have worked with this window cleaning company for over 4 years and never had any issues. The owner of the company was notified and has investigated his employee and reimbursed us for the chargers. It is unfortunate that this single incident marred your entire three week stay and that it resulted in such a poor review for The Casita, as we have never had any reviews less than 4 stars. We pride ourselves in creating a serene and peaceful setting for our guests. We are changing our protocols in the future for cleaning services, but unfortunately your stay was the catalyst for the change. We appreciate your candor and we wish you the best. Renee & Chris
Thanks Renee and Chris for providing a great guest house for our use. The house was very clean and well appointed which made our stay very comfortable. The bed was good and we slept well. It is so quiet in the country! Love, Love the open airy floor plan and all the natural light. Enjoyed beautiful sunrise views from the living area windows each morning. Bend is a great location for our golf outings. We would stay again when we're back in the area!

Hi Michelle & Paul,
Thank you so much for taking such great care of The Casita and leaving it so clean-- we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to seeing you again! Renee & Chris
Comfy cottage in a beautiful setting
The Casita is a beautiful property located in the countryside about 10 minutes drive from the outskirts of Bend. The cottage is quite comfortable and tastefully furnished. We found it to be the perfect size for our stay and stocked with everything we needed. The surroundings are quiet and peaceful. We saw many types of birds and wildlife come up to the bird feeders near the back patio. Seeing the horses in pasture just beyond the cottage grounds added a rustic flavor to our stay. Renee and Chris are courteous and thoughtful hosts. Their attention to detail far exceeded our expectations. If we return to Bend for another visit, this rental would be our top choice.
Best VRBO rental I've ever been in
This is a lovely single guest house ("casita") and is beautifully constructed and furnished. In a lovely setting close to Bend but far enough away to be in the country. Quiet and lots of wildlife to look at, as well as a few farm animals. The owners made sure to keep in contact with us to make sure there was nothing we needed. Warm and homey Casita, will definitely stay there again. Best VRBO I have ever stayed at. Highly recommended.
Additional pricing information
The Casita is located on the same property as our home, and we enjoy the quiet solitude of our ranch. This property is not appropriate for entertaining or parties, but is well-suited to adventurous outdoor-seekers and families. The loft sleeps two individuals, but is not suited for children under age 3 as the ladder to the loft is difficult to navigate. We do not accept pets.
