We live in the farmhouse, 150 mtrs from the cottage and have run the cottage as a holiday home on and off for 30 years. My husband grew up with his family in the cottage.
jennifer warwick purchased this cottage in 1947
It is the remote rural situation that makes this cottage unique. The open views can be enjoyed from the comfort of the sofa in the sitting room. Secluded and private but at the same time the farmhouse is a stones throw through a small wood should you require us.
We stayed at Jennifer's cosy and charming cottage for 1 night in December and had a lovely time. It was a break away from the city for our family (including two children). Jennifer and David were wonderful hosts, the cottage had a lovely Christmas feel with the Christmas tree and even Christmas crackers on the table. Jennifer kept the cottage warm inside, beds were very comfy and there were plenty of toys for our children. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay (particularly spending time with Jennifer and her farm animals) and hope to be back in Spring:-).
Another amazing week of relaxation, tranquility and amazing views. Once again Jennifer was the perfect welcoming host. The cottage is so warm and relaxing and a perfect retreat from our hectic working lives. The walks and scenery are amazing and the wildlife can be seen in abundance, red squirrels, kestrels, sheep/cattle/horses, pheasants, rabbits, many variety of birds and bats. Even the rain does not detract from this wonderful peaceful place
We spent a lovely long weekend at Girnwood in September 2016. Jennifer was very welcoming and the cottage had everything we needed. Was great having a fenced garden so we could let our two greyhounds have a bit of a sprint too. Great location and stunning views. Would definitely recommend
A nice secluded property with great views. Clean and comfortable, and Jennifer was a great host.
My family and I had the opportunity to stay at Girnwood Cottage. Jennifer met us as soon as we arrived and showed us around the beautiful property. We loved the landscape and the wonderful views. Jennifer's hospitality was what my family will always remember, and my youngest daughter got the chance to help her feed the farm animals! If you are looking for a beautiful property out of the tourist areas, and the chance to meet an outstanding family, then I highly recommend Girnwood!
My family and I spent 4 nights in Girnwood and had a relaxing time. The access road is in a bit of a state due to the logging trucks, which made for a bumpy ride. The cottage is lovely and cosy, and is well equipped although there were no egg cups so I couldn't have a dippy egg! The king-size bed was so high I had to climb onto it as I'm only 4'11", but it was very comfortable. The alarm on the radio in the kitchen had been set so went off at about 2am, which scared the pants off us! We thought there was a ghost! There isn't a manual so we couldn't turn it off and had to switch it off at the wall! The lambs and horses were very friendly, and came to say hello when we went for walks.
