About the property

Perfect placement! 10 minute walk to historic downtown Franklin, or 6 minute walk to Jim Warren Park. Our cozy cottage was built in 1936 by Dr. Henry Cooke and recently renovated with open floor plan that invites conversation, connectedness or a quiet retreat. Historic Downtown Franklin offers scrumptious local restaurants and adorable little shops, plus incredible home-town events. If you sit awhile on the front porch, you might get to see a parade or race pass by. There is always the back patio where you can find solitude in our private backyard and enjoy the birds and the trees.

About Jenny Black

Our family moved to the yellow cottage last year. We live in Franklin full-time and rent out our house when we are traveling. We love our life here and do what we can to be home as much as possible. Sitting on the porch all weekend is our version of a good time. Our family business is CountryRoad.TV. You can check us out on apple TV, Amazon Fire or ROKU. Over the past year, we have poured our time, energy and creativity into this little cottage and our new business.

Why Jenny Black chose Franklin

We love our life on this magical street. It was our dream to live in a walkable community, to become friends with our neighbors and to really live at home. We moved to this cottage after downsizing from a big home in Suburbia where we were too busy keeping it up to ever enjoy it. We walk downtown almost daily. We often work at Frothy Monkey or Merridee's Bakery. Meet friends for happy hour at Cork&Cow or Gray's on Main. Pinkerton park is one of our favorite destinations for a morning walk. And, of course, we love watching old movies and concerts at Franklin Cinema.

What makes this house unique

Rocking chairs on the front porch. Natural sunlight throughout house. Open floor plan. Friendliest neighbors. Peaceful backyard. Fire pit time. Downtown festivals. Game night. Netflix and Chill. Kayaking. Biking. Hiking. There is so much to do all around us but we are also always happy to stay in for the night because It's a really happy house.

One of the bloodiest wars in the Civil War took place here, bringing thousands of historic tourists each year to visit the site of the Battle of Franklin, Carnton Plantation, the Carter House and many other historic locations throughout the City. In 2009, The National Trust for Historic Preservation awarded Franklin the prestigious title of Distinctive Destination for offering an authentic visitor experience by combining dynamic downtowns, cultural diversity, attractive architecture and a strong commitment to historic preservation. In the same year the American Planning Association named the downtown Franklin area a Top Ten Great Neighborhood for the Downtown Franklin’s outstanding historic character and architecture and meaningful protection measures the City has adopted to ensure Franklin’s unique sense of place is not compromised by future growth and development. Downtown Franklin is well known for its annual festivals and parades including: The Main Street Festival in Spring; Fourth of July in Summer: PumpkinFest in October; the Veterans Day Parade in November; and Dickens of a Christmas in December. Thousands of tourists visit Franklin each year to attend these festivals and many more throughout the year.
