A secret house, with light, space and sea views, luxurious although with a ‘beach shack’ vibe. Charm and wit are in evidence!
Zalia Wight is the latest addition to the small collection of private, luxury holiday homes in the Zalia Retreats portfolio.
Within easy reach of London and excellent fast roads from the North. Your holiday starts as you board the ferry; from either Portsmouth Quay to pretty Fishbourne, or from Lymington Marina to the pier at Yarmouth or the sailors' route from Southampton to Cowes.
There is the special micro climate of which this area of Wight boasts , giving bright, warm days even in February and long sun filled days for summer holidays.
The two bedroom, two bathroom house sits in its own terraced garden which is essential to its charm. The steps at the end of the garden begin the short walk to the beach or along the coastal walk to Ventnor.
Floor to ceiling windows give glorious views of the garden and sea ; on rain soaked days you still feel part of the outdoors and on sunny days you can fold them right back and live both in and outside.
In this open plan living space is a pretty little stove, easy to light and heart warming . Of course the house also has a new and efficient central heating system which supplies heat and masses of hot water.
Oak flooring in this room is complemented by a stylish blue tweed sofa and other contemporary pieces.
There is a good wifi Internet connection with Sky HD television and a DVD player.
The dining table has more than enough space for six to eat indoors. Simple white crockery, cutlery with linen napkins and masses of glassware, makes serving easy. Everything, bar the super kitchen knives, will go into the dishwasher.
In the generous and uncluttered kitchen it is a pleasure to prepare food. Stunning colours in the wall tiles and Moorish patterned floor tiles have transformed this work space. There are all the big appliances you would expect - a tall fridge/freezer with a chilled, drinking water facility, a spotless oven and hob set into the wooden work top, ceramic sinks, plus a dishwasher and washing machine
SLEEPING AND BATHING
The bedrooms lead off a corridor . Everything has been painted predominantly chalk white to reflect the coastal light but both bathrooms feature colour and amazing tile work.
The second bedroom has full-size twin beds (which can convert into a super king-size double) with top quality mattresses, super pillows and White Company bed linen.
There is a generous wet room with rainfall shower, loo and washbasin across the corridor.
The main bedroom probably has the greatest charm in that it is dominated by a splendid view across the garden and village to the sea. From this room you have your own door onto the deck. A super king-size double bed, excellent mattress with wonderful pillows and again, White Company bed linen. This room has another space, a magical daybed in the window. It was created to make a quiet spot to laze and gaze. This could be made up into a child’s full-sized single ‘cubby bed’ at your request.
This bedroom has private access to a wet room, with large bath, rainfall shower, loo and washbasin.
The owners are pleased to offer Orla Kiely handwash throughout this Zalia house.
OUT OF DOORS
Step out from the living space or from your bedroom onto a newly installed deck, shaded by palms and with sufficient space to imagine you really are 'beside the sea' in your own 'beach hut'. You still, however, have access to all the facilities of the house and can keep an eye on any of your children who may be playing on the lawns below. A lower deck has space for the large garden dining table and benches.
Lawns and pebbles are terraced with planting to add interest to the space and all lead to a secret flight of stone steps in the far corner of the garden which begin the path to the beach.
Another wonderful week at Zalia Wight. The weather was very kind to us but really this is a great place to stay whatever the weather. A beautiful house with lovely sea views and one of the best equipped kitchens I've seen in a holiday property. So much to see and do close by including some fantastic walks.
The house was superb with lots of wonderful sea views from the rooms and garden. The pictures don't do it justice, we could not fault it. Ventnor is a lovely area and we will definitely return to explore further.
Zalia White is a stunning place to stay in a great location, a quiet hideaway to relax in with some hidden gems on its doorstep. Bonchurch beach and the coastal walk are just a 10 minutes walk down the winding hills a lovely place to watch the sun go down and the coastal walk can take you all the way round to Ventnor and Steephill Cove.
Booking the holiday was very simple and Joseph was always easy to contact replying within the hour, the house was exactly as described and the welcome pack listed lots of things to do and see, great for a first timer to the IOW.
Zaria White has been finished to a really high standard, with all the mod-cons and if you like a good view of the sea and ships you won't have any problems finding one here, be it from the deck dining area, the garden deckchairs or the comfy sofa next to the fire. The house was lovely and warm, bedrooms and bathrooms are large and beds are super comfy. I slept like a log.
There are great places to eat too, the Pond Cafe (10min walk) can be walked to from Zalia and Seapot on the coastal path (30 mins walk) is a great excuse to stop on your way to Ventnor. But if you fancy a bit of home cooking there are plenty of pot, pans and dishes to use and two small supermarkets in Ventnor (5 min drive).
Obviously there are plenty of activities to take part in on the IOW but really Zalia White was so lovely to come back to after a day out or to simply laze around in all day and enjoy the sunshine, a stylish but homely bolthole and I cant wait to return.
There are certain things which make a holiday perfect and Zalia ticked all the boxes - spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable. We loved snoozing on the master bedroom window seat watching the sea and sunsets. And it was great to open the bifold doors and let the sunshine in. Let's just keep this little gem between ourselves ok .....
Absolutely clean, cozy, magnificent views.
Modern retro style house, all newly renovated.
I slept like a Queen in the bed.
Carefully thought out and decor as if we were in a lifestyle magaine!
I can only say BRAVO and thank you from all of us!
Great guest manual too.
I have not a single complaint or anything bad to say..
The top (we have been to many houses and this is one of my favorties).
All the best from

Zalia Wight is a stunning property and a great place to get away and relax. My wife and I stayed for 3 nights with our 2yr old Daughter and it was perfect. All on one level, very spacious and has everything you need to make it a home away from home. Impeccably clean, very comfy sofas and beds and beautiful views from lounge and bedroom. 5*, we plan to return and would certainly recommend!
Ventnor is a Victorian seaside town situated on the southern side of the Isle of Wight, right in the heart of the famed Undercliff, much of which is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Sheltered from the north by the National Trust owned St Boniface Downs, Ventnor benefits from its own micro climate. This climate provides an ideal haven for a variety of flora and fauna, many species of which are only found in Mediterranean countries. Many visitors have benefited from the health giving properties that this micro climate offers.
Visitors to Ventnor will find a great variety of established local shops, restaurants and public houses. All provide a friendly service both to their local community and its visitors. Many serve local freshly caught fish and locally brewed ales. The town is currently undergoing a revival with exciting developments including its harbour and off-shore deep sea moorings and a range of new accommodation, restaurants and retail outlets.
To the east of the parish of Ventnor lies the village of Bonchurch renowned for its literary connections. Writers and poets such as Dickens, Stackpole and Swinburn all resided here for a time.
