Modica, the capital of the County which was made great by its Conti: 'A form of split pomegranate', with its baroque architecture, its narrow streets and its churches, on which stand the Duomo di San Giorgio and the Cathedral Church of St. Peter , it has become the destination of historical paths and wine and food. In this regard we recall the Modica chocolate, served plain or with its various flavorings, 'the' mpanatigghi 'beans modicane,' u Cosacavaddu '(the famous caciocavallo DOP), in addition to the typical preparations that have their roots in peasant culture.
Other sites of historical and cultural interest are: the necropolis of Cava d 'Ispica and the baroque towns of Ragusa and Scicli.
Equally important and evocative are the destinations outside the province: the baroque of Noto, the Vendicari, Portopalo, Marzamemi and Syracuse. All within easy reach for a day trip.
