RECEPTIVE STRUCTURE. Situated on a hill and immersed in the unmistakable landscape of the green hills of Florentine Chianti, Badia a Corte is an old, cosy farmhouse dating back to the Middle Ages. The recent restructuring, undertaken with particular accuracy, has provided the house with all modern conveniences to ensure guests a comfortable stay yet, at the same time, respecting the characteristics of the typical country houses. The original stairs have been salvaged and restored as well as some of the ceilings like the frescoed one in the kitchen. From the house, furnished in the classic Tuscan tradition, and from the pool guests can enjoy a panorama stretching as far as the eye can see, over the orderly expanses covered with vineyards and olive groves surrounding the property, to the far-off mountains of the Vallombrosa National Park. Badia a Corte offers the opportunity of a relaxing and salutary holiday in a place rich in fascination and charm where art and nature blend in a perfect union. Moreover, its location, just a few kilometres from the principal art cities of Tuscany, like Siena, Florence, San Gigminano and Volterra, and from the characteristic villages of the Chianti area, makes it particularly suitable for organizing interesting trips in the vicinity as it is well connected to the major road networks.
The house has three floors and stands on sloping ground: this allows access to the outside from both the ground floor and the basement sited at the back of the building. The entrance on the ground floor leads, on the left, to a large sitting room with fireplace which is connected to the TV room equipped with a large satellite television and with direct access to the outside porch. On the right is a reading room and a twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower. Two flights of stairs lead, respectively, to the basement and to the first floor. In the basement is a dining room connected to a large kitchen with direct access, though a French door, to the outside dining area. Also on this floor is a toilet. On the first floor is the sleeping area, composed of two twin bedrooms (with join-able beds) with en-suite bathroom with shower, a double bedroom (with dividable bed) with en-suite bathroom with shower and a further double bedroom (with dividable bed) which leads into the last twin bedroom (with join-able beds) with en-suite bathroom with shower. ANNEX. Adjacent to the main house is a one-storey annex with separate entrance, composed of an open plan kitchen with dining area, a double bedroom (with dividable bed), a single bedroom and a bathroom with shower.
The property is completely fenced-in and covers an area of 8,000 sq m. with areas of lawn alternating with areas paved in stone. The surrounding vegetation is typically Tuscan, with olive trees and vineyards but also colourful and fragrant plants such as bushes of broom and roses. From the entrance gate you go directly into a spacious, stone-paved courtyard leading to the main door of the house and to the hanging garden with swimming pool and solarium. Two porticoes, one adjacent to the courtyard and the other at the back of the house, contain, respectively, a relaxation area with benches and chairs and a ping-pong table. At the back of the house, just outside the French window of the kitchen, is a large area furnished with tables, chairs and umbrella, the ideal spot for al fresco dining in a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. The property has a large outdoor parking area and a garage.
The pool is situated in the inner garden, in a panoramic position and framed by a lush vineyard on the side facing south. 10 metres from the house, it is sited on a lower level with respect to the ground floor. It measures 13 x 7 with a depth varying from 1,10 to 3 m. The pool has two ladders for access to the water and a diving board. A few metres from the pool is a changing room with bathroom and two hot-water showers. The purification plant is chlorine; there is lighting both inside the pool and outside in the solarium area where guests can sit in the evening to enjoy the beautiful sunset over the hills. The solarium area, paved mainly in stone, is equipped with sunbeds, deckchairs and umbrellas and a gazebo with chairs and little table.
